Great family time in Williams railway retreat!

  • 4 of 5
What a wonderful house, big enough for Grandpa and Grandma to bring the grandkids, which loved the trampelin in the yard. Was close to many side trips we took and dinner in town was nice. The house was clean, we did have a problem with the DVD player but we made the best of it with playing games with the kids. If in the area again we would stay here again.

Great Williams Getaway!

  • 5 of 5
We were a large group (3 families) spending the weekend in Williams to visit the Grand Canyon, Bearizona, etc. The home was well accommodating for the 15 of us (6 adults, 9 kids). The kids really enjoyed the loft bedroom and the trampoline. The adults enjoyed the clean, well-maintained and upgraded home and accommodations. We made most of our meals in the kitchen, with many of the amenities provided and available. The home was as represented, if more impressive in person than the photos.
Cameron was very responsive with all of my requests and questions, and I'd definitely recommend this home to anyone looking to stay in Williams or visit the Grand Canyon! Don't miss Bearizona - also a unique experience!

Williams is a lovely town!!

  • 4 of 5
The railway retreat was well-appointed and the inside was just lovely! The beds were quite comfortable and the layout was nice. It is very close to town, and we enjoyed walking downtown for meals and entertainment with the our family. Our boys just LOVED the trampoline and the loft. The trampoline kept them busy and smiling. The King Sized beds were nice and the sheets & mattress toppers were quite comfy. The living room with the vaulted ceilings was really beautiful. The full sized washer and dryer were put to good use and worked very well!

A few things that might be improved upon, or would have been nice to know before we arrived:
* There are freight trains coming through every night - VERY loudly.

* our oldest son found 1/2 dozen rusty nails in the dirt driveway where we were parked - a quick once over with an industrial magnet should solve that easily

* there is no ac - just a swamp cooler

* the hot tub had hair floating in it when we opened it - our kiddos used it once, developed rashes & we all decided not to go in it the rest of the time

* There weren't any spa towels that we found. It worked out okay since the boys only used the spa once, but they had to use their bath towels when they got out. No biggie, I just washed them when they were done, so they would have bath towels for the evening.

* the grass in the back yard was completely dead, but still very tall and un-mowed - I understand that the grass dies in the winter here, but we were surprised the yard had not been kept up & the walk way was also full of weeds

* WiFi is very slow. For most on vacation that would be just fine, but my husband had to work in the mornings, so it was a bit slow for what he needed.

* The ceiling fans (especially in the master) could use a really good cleaning. We thought the fan was white, but after my dad had major allergy attacks when he went into the master bedroom, we looked more closely and saw that the fan was wicker and just full of dust.

* The couch was a pull out couch, but the mattress had been taken out. So the couch cushions sunk really low and it was hard to sit in. We easily fixed this by putting the decorative couch cushions under the regular couch cushions for support.

* The property sleeps up to 10 (we were a party of 6) and there were only 4 regular sized spoons. Some additional silverware would be helpful.

This was a really beautiful house, but I feel that for the price, some amenities were lacking.

Owner's Response: Thank you for posting a review of your stay, we are glad to have your input and glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. We are very sorry that you had such a list of items that were not perfect for your stay and we will look into all of them that need attention immediately. Here is a few explanations for your concerns:

- We apologize for the train noise, obviously this is out of our control, however it must have been an exceptionally busy weekend for trains because this is the first complaint we have had about the noise levels.

- In Williams with the high temperatures that we reach we have never had a need for A\C in the house. As a matter of fact only 2% of the houses in Williams have A\C units. During our time living at the house for 6 years we never had anything other then the Evaporative Cooler and we were always comfortable. We do plan on installing A\C on the house in the near future to make our guests more comfortable if they like cooler temperatures.

- The Jacuzzi is drained, cleaned and re-filled with fresh water after every use. I am not sure why your kids had a breakout, but I am going to check into it and find out. We are refunding you your jacuzzi fee today for your troubles.

- We apologize about the grass in the rear yard but we are on level 2 water restrictions in Williams and we are not allowed to water it at all. I have hauled several loads of water to the house to try and keep up with the lawn but it requires more water than I can haul. Usually the lawn in the years past during this time is one of the many highlights of the stay but this is out of our control this year due to major water problems in Williams that have made national news.

- We have always heard the Wi-Fi was very fast and more than enough for several items to be using it at the same time. I will check speeds today and make sure it is running at its full potential. I am hoping that you were logged into the right internet?

- New additional silverware is already purchased and being added tomorrow.

We really do appreciate your feedback, we try and make your stay as great as it can be. We really take pride in the fact the house is clean, cozy & fun. We sincerely appreciate your business.

God Bless You.

Graduation Stay

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful stay here at the Williams Railway Retreat! Because of the size of our family, the accommodations were perfect for my family, comfortable & cozy. We were here to attend my son's Graduation from Norther Arizona University as well as to take advantage of the closeness of the Grand Canyon & of course, Williams and the famous Route 66! We'd recommend this place to our friends & family! The owner was very responsive to my calls for questions related to the home.

Cozy and sweet place to stay in Williams, AZ

  • 5 of 5
Family of 7, including 3 children were traveling first time to Grand Canyon.
At first, I was bit concerned with impoverished looking neighborhood, but turns out Williams is safe place to stay. Owner is extremely friendly and efficient.
Home had all the amenties you need with plenty of space for 7 of us to retreat from Grand Canyon experience. If you are traveling with families, this is one of few places I would recommend. Thanks to owner for providing memorable traveling experience!

Beautiful Great big family home

  • 5 of 5
We had 15 family members needing a place to stay for our birthday weekend extravaganza, this house is perfect!! The neighborhood is quiet till we got there. We had 4 bedrooms and the loft full of family we also had enough room in drive way to park our travel trailer and 4 cars! We had a great kitchen and breakfast nook for the whole family to gather round as we prepared meals. We made use of everything the house has to offer dishwasher, washer & dryer (kids got messy!!),BBQ grill, backyard trampoline and swing set! The line for using the double headed cave shower was quite long in the morning! We were there for 3 days/3 nights and enjoyed Sedona, Bearizona, Grand Canyon and of course Route 66 restaurants and bars, red raven restaurant and sultanas. We had a great trip and the owners were so helpful with everything! If you want to feel at home for your stay this is the place!!
