Kick back and enjoy the show from our two decks.

Relaxing family vacation

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I and our nine children spent a week at Midpines Manor. Our children's ages ranged from 28 years old down to eight years old. The house certainly had enough space and beds to accommodate us.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the house. The owner, Keith, was very helpful whenever we had a need. The location, about 10 miles from town, was secluded (even though there are neighbors close by).

During our week at the house, we went to Yosemite twice. Our first trip was to Glacier Point. We hiked to Taft Point to view the sunset..which was beautiful. On another day, we made a trip to Yosemite Valley (about an hour drive from the house). Although most of the falls were dry, Vernal Falls still had water. We hiked to the top of it.

We made a few other local trips. One was to Coulterville to see the museum which gave us a glimpse of the Gold Rush era. Although it was interesting, I'm not sure that it was the one-hour drive each way.

Another trip was to the Merced River Recreation Area. It was less than a half hour from the house. We enjoyed playing in the water (which wasn't much) and hiking around.

We also enjoyed not going anywhere...just hanging around the house. One favorite activity was sitting in the hot tub after dark and watching the stars. We also enjoyed the 56" big screen TV and caught some shows from Dish Network and NetFlix...neither of which we have at home.

Good, fun memories were had by all of us!

Owner's Response: Thank you for both choosing us and also the nice review. With the extreme drought, not much water this late in the year for the falls in the park, or the recreation areas. We are hoping the weather will be much wetter for the next few decades, closer to the historical patterns.

Family Reunion

  • 5 of 5
I rented this house for my children and grandchildren (6 adults and 7 children). There was plenty of room so people did not feel they were on top of each other. There are lots of steep stairs, which made it difficult for my 90 year old mother to come over for dinner, but she was determined to make it. The kitchen was large enough to handle cooking for all 21 of us, when we got together for meals. The lizard in the sleeper sofa added to the fun. Everyone had an awesome time!

Owner's Response: Thanks for being a good sport about the lizard. It's the country side so occasional critters are inevitable no matter how hard we try to critter-proof the place. Thanks for your good rating.

Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5
My family stayed 4 nights and 5 days at this great getaway. We had my parents and our teenagers with us. The space was perfect for all of us. The living room/dining room combo was a great space for all of us to congregate. The house was very well equipped. The hot tub was used every single day. The pictures reflected the house very well. It was very clean and well equipped. It is about an hour drive to Yosemite, and 15-20 minutes from Mariposa. The house is located in a very peaceful area.

Great Yosemite Family House

  • 5 of 5
This is a great house. The layout is really good for a family get-together. It has a open floor plan that accommodates big groups. All the rooms are upstairs with the exception of one downstairs bedroom that is perfect for giving over to teenagers.

The home is clean and smells good.

There house is on a country lane set back on a long driveway. The privacy is complete. When we were there, we saw wild turkeys roaming through the front yard. There were also baby birds in one of the birdhouses. Very cute.

The owners work hard to make things comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked and even includes appliances like blenders and coffee grinders. The hot tub is excellent. It is modern with super powerful massage jets.

The nearest town is about 15 minutes away. Yosemite valley is about a one hour drive.

Overall, this is a solid vacation house that gets everything right.

Great time!

  • 5 of 5
The house was great, lots of room, very clean. Our first morning at the house the coffee pot was not working, I emailed the owner and he brought a new coffee pot to the house within the hour! He saved the day. Thank you Keith! The Hot tub was amazing, we enjoyed it every night after a long day at Yosemite Park.

Knarly Oaks Midpines Manor

  • 4 of 5
Our family stayed at Midpines Manor for a week in May, and the occasion was a wedding in Yosemite! We found it to be large and spacious, and it easily accommodated our extended family of 8 and one toddler. The sunken living room proved to be our grandson's favorite place to play due to the plush carpeting, and we loved the Ansel Adams shots of Yosemite along the hallway and over the fireplace. The kitchen had all the appliances needed to prepare a nice meal, and the barbecue on the nearby deck proved so helpful. The hutch even has a set of Desert Rose Franciscan dinnerware, and everyone enjoyed being together at the large dining table. We awoke every morning to birdsong, and liked being outdoors on the decks amid the forest. Most of our time was spent in Yosemite, but one afternoon on returning, we found the spa to be very rejuvenating. There is also a laundry room complete with washer, dryer, and fold-down ironing board. The town of Mariposa was about 7 miles away, and we were able to do our marketing,at Pioneer Market there, in addition to spending a little time in an historic location. If you have a large family, this home may be perfect for you!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words. I should correct one error. The photograph over the fireplace is "Oak in Fog" by local photographer Kay Price. We've adopted this photo as our official Knarly Oaks logo (with Kay's permission, of course). The six in the hall are Ansel Adams.
