We are ten minutes from the historical town of Mariposa, where you will find the California State Mining and Mineral Museum, the Mariposa Museum and History Center, many restaurants, and a couple really great gift shops. We are forty minutes from the town of Oakhurst, and an hour from the Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino. We have provided a loose-leaf notebook to tell you all about the local sites and restaurants.

The bunk bedroom has a double bed, two twin beds in a bunk bed frame, dresser, closet and ceiling fan. There is also a downstairs bathroom with shower, toilet and sink down stairs if needed. The hallway has our Ansel Adams collection, and the manor has other local nuggets like a 1896 map of Yosemite drawn by the 5th Calvary.

The kitchen is stocked with dish, glass and flatware sets of 18. There is stoneware set and a plastic ware set (for outside use). There is a double oven, four burner stove, pots and pans for cooking, along with a rice cooker/steamer, microwave oven, blender, hand mixer, toaster,, coffee maker and coffee bean grinder. The refrigerator is equipped with filtered ice and cold-water dispensers. There is a dishwasher with provided environmental friendly dishwashing soap.

The living room has a magnificent fireplace, 56' HDTV, satellite and Blue-Ray player, sofa, theater surround sound, recliner and fantastic view. Adjacent den has comptuer and cell phone hookups, queen sofa bed, and privacy panels if sofa bed is used.

The dining room tables seats ten, and can be expanded to seat fourteen with our two extra leaves. A 39' HDTV with satellite is on swivel bracket for dining room, kitchen or breakfast nook HDTV viewing.

Breakfast nook seats four, has that 39' swivel HDTV option, next to kitchen, dining room, laundry room, and kitchen outdoor deck.

Fairly large upstairs laundry room with washer, dryer, vacuums and cleaning products.

We stock paper products, soap and shampoo.

Midpines Manor bottom floor:

The bottom floor has a game room 3/4 bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. The game room has WII/Dish and 39' HDTV, along with a mini ping pong, pool, and air hockey table.

Wildlife:

Deer and wild turkeys like the river and are present every day on the property even when we bring our dogs. Of course you are bound to spot tree squirrels and perhaps a chipmunk, raccoon, or gray fox. Hawks, turkey vultures, finch and hummingbirds frequent the trees. Kick back and enjoy the show from our two decks.

Let us be the home base for your Yosemite Vacation!

Amazing House, Fun Vacation

  • 5 of 5
We were looking for a nice place near Yosemite to stay and relax, and this was the perfect place. The house was very spacious and accommodating. There was even a hot tub, which I must say was quite refreshing. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our food, and there were even some board games to play with. We're strongly considering renting this place again next year.

Family Christmas

  • 5 of 5
Our family celebrated the week of Christmas with 3 generations including grandchildren and teenagers and had a wonderful time. There were 14 of us and we had plenty of room for sleeping, relaxing and playing games! The kitchen was great for the many meals we cooked including Christmas Day turkey with all the trimmings. We spent one full day hiking at Yosemite, and some of the group went ice skating at Camp Curry. Another day the younger folks went snowboarding and sledding at Badger Pass which is about an hour away. Great fun! We went into Mariposa and visited the museum another day. Great location, close to town but so quiet and peaceful too. The kids especially enjoyed the spa on the cold nights looking at the stars:) Keith and Kim were also kind enough to provide a Christmas tree (we brought my Mom's old ornaments to decorate) - thank you! All in all a wonderful family Christmas in a very special place.

Owner's Response: Hi Carol,

We are glad you enjoyed the house, and had Christmas ornaments for the tree. Kim had gotten some tree ornaments. It was our first year with outside holiday lights and indoor trees with lights for all three of our Knarly Oaks Vacation Rentals, and I ran out of time to add the ornaments to any of the trees. Next year Kim will be helping me.

We hope to have you back,
Keith (and Kim)

Relaxing family vacation

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I and our nine children spent a week at Midpines Manor. Our children's ages ranged from 28 years old down to eight years old. The house certainly had enough space and beds to accommodate us.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the house. The owner, Keith, was very helpful whenever we had a need. The location, about 10 miles from town, was secluded (even though there are neighbors close by).

During our week at the house, we went to Yosemite twice. Our first trip was to Glacier Point. We hiked to Taft Point to view the sunset..which was beautiful. On another day, we made a trip to Yosemite Valley (about an hour drive from the house). Although most of the falls were dry, Vernal Falls still had water. We hiked to the top of it.

We made a few other local trips. One was to Coulterville to see the museum which gave us a glimpse of the Gold Rush era. Although it was interesting, I'm not sure that it was the one-hour drive each way.

Another trip was to the Merced River Recreation Area. It was less than a half hour from the house. We enjoyed playing in the water (which wasn't much) and hiking around.

We also enjoyed not going anywhere...just hanging around the house. One favorite activity was sitting in the hot tub after dark and watching the stars. We also enjoyed the 56" big screen TV and caught some shows from Dish Network and NetFlix...neither of which we have at home.

Good, fun memories were had by all of us!

Owner's Response: Thank you for both choosing us and also the nice review. With the extreme drought, not much water this late in the year for the falls in the park, or the recreation areas. We are hoping the weather will be much wetter for the next few decades, closer to the historical patterns.

Family Reunion

  • 5 of 5
I rented this house for my children and grandchildren (6 adults and 7 children). There was plenty of room so people did not feel they were on top of each other. There are lots of steep stairs, which made it difficult for my 90 year old mother to come over for dinner, but she was determined to make it. The kitchen was large enough to handle cooking for all 21 of us, when we got together for meals. The lizard in the sleeper sofa added to the fun. Everyone had an awesome time!

Owner's Response: Thanks for being a good sport about the lizard. It's the country side so occasional critters are inevitable no matter how hard we try to critter-proof the place. Thanks for your good rating.

Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5
My family stayed 4 nights and 5 days at this great getaway. We had my parents and our teenagers with us. The space was perfect for all of us. The living room/dining room combo was a great space for all of us to congregate. The house was very well equipped. The hot tub was used every single day. The pictures reflected the house very well. It was very clean and well equipped. It is about an hour drive to Yosemite, and 15-20 minutes from Mariposa. The house is located in a very peaceful area.

Great Yosemite Family House

  • 5 of 5
This is a great house. The layout is really good for a family get-together. It has a open floor plan that accommodates big groups. All the rooms are upstairs with the exception of one downstairs bedroom that is perfect for giving over to teenagers.

The home is clean and smells good.

There house is on a country lane set back on a long driveway. The privacy is complete. When we were there, we saw wild turkeys roaming through the front yard. There were also baby birds in one of the birdhouses. Very cute.

The owners work hard to make things comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked and even includes appliances like blenders and coffee grinders. The hot tub is excellent. It is modern with super powerful massage jets.

The nearest town is about 15 minutes away. Yosemite valley is about a one hour drive.

Overall, this is a solid vacation house that gets everything right.
