Do you like the feeling of white sand oozing through your toes while you stand awestruck at the majesty of the Pacific displayed in front of you? Or have you ever been fortunate enough to be on the coast when a winter storm literally makes the ocean put on a show for you?

Watch the fishing boats go to sea out through the jetty, see the early fog lifting, hear them toot their horn. See the roar of an ocean storm as you watch through the living room windows. See the sun glistening off a still calm wide open ocean that seems like you can see forever. Watch the pelicans & sea gulls diving on the water. Take a walk on the beach and feel the sun on your face, the sand under your feet, and breathe in the whole experience. See and hear the sea lions bark at you when you visit the old Newport bayfront. If you want a vacation in a "house by the sea" this is it.

At the Arnold Beach Haven Newport home you will experience the wonder of nature. Whether it's whale watching, crabbing, clamming, fishing for salmon, or just falling asleep in front of a warm fireplace, here you are guaranteed to have FUN!!!

I stayed here with my wife and her family and it was so much fun. The house is very large, great for large families. The house has a really nice feeling to it- high beams, cool wood architecture. AWESOME view. The upstairs living room has an entire wall of windows overlooking the ocean, it is truly awesome. It has a neat little trail down to the beach that takes a couple minutes, (that the kids particularly liked) no driving, real nice access. I don't know if this is seasonal or not, but the beach has these cool rocks with fossils attached to them that the kids loved collecting. It was really fun for them and the adults too! The house is a couple minutes away from the Newport Bay. All the guys in our group went fishing and crabbing which was an awesome experience. The girls went shopping by Depot Bay- there are some really fun touristy shops there, (must buy the salt water taffy!) There's also a cool Aquarium a few minutes from the house- really fun for kids and adults. The house couldn't be at a better location. Thank you for giving our family such a fun memory to have, and we look forward to using it again!!! - oh one more thing- it has an elevator, so the two stories wasn't an issue whatsoever for our grandparents- it was so nice not having to worry about them using the stairs. Very accommodating.

Seafood and Wine Weekend

  • 4 of 5
My annual Seafood and Wine group has grown a bit over the years so we found this place a bit south of town to accommodate our large group.
The kitchen was huge and fully loaded. We made a communal dinner one night and had appetizers going the whole weekend. We had everything we needed to make every dish a success.
The house itself is very spacious- tons of space to hang out and play games. We caught the end of the Winter Olympics on the big tv and liked the new leather sectional they added. It's not in the photos above.
Be aware the huge master bathroom is attached to the room with the double queen beds. That was disappointing, as we were the planners of the trip and were hoping for that suite. It wasn't clear in the description.
Sound travels there- go to bed a floor down and be prepared to hear every sound and footstep throughout the house! We had lots of wine so it wasn't a problem for most of us :)
This home does not come with toilet paper, paper towel, sheets, dish towels, bath towels, etch. Be prepared to travel with all of it.
We didn't use the elevator once because the owners warned us it's a hefty repair cost if something goes wrong with it. Not worth the usage.
As for Seafood and Wine weekend, the closest bus stop was at the entrance of South Beach state park- about a 30 to 40 minute walk from the house. It would have been awesome on the beach but there were large creeks coming in from the shore that were too big to jump. We just ended up calling taxis. It wasn't a big deal.
Overall, we had a great weekend. Of course, with great company you can't go wrong. We won't rent this place for Seafood again, but it would be a great place for a big get together.

Owner's Response: We are glad you had a good time at our beach house.
For clarification for future renters reading this review:
1. The master bath is off of the master bedroom.
2. As far as the comment that sound travels throughout the house: The master bedroom is located beneath the living room. Our home is built with quality construction and the living room has thick pad and thick quality carpet and there is no more sound traveling from upstairs to downstairs than in any other quality built two story home. In all the years of renting the house we have never had a complaint like this. I think that because it was “Oregon Seafood and WINE Festival” might have had something to do with how much noise there was upstairs. This guest said “we had lots of wine”.
3. Regarding the guest’s comment about the elevator saying there will be a “hefty repair cost if something goes wrong with it” is not accurate. If any maintenance ever needed to be done to the elevator then we, the owners, would of course pay for the repair. What we say that the guest would have to pay for is if people jumped up and down in the elevator for fun. If you do it will activate a safety device that will freeze the elevator in place (Oregon Elevator Safety Code requires this) that would require the elevator man to come and reset it. This is what every elevator in the State of Oregon requires. If you do not want to use the elevator then it certainly isn’t required. There are two different stairways you can use. With many hundreds of people who have used the elevator over many years we have had a total of ZERO problems with it. Nobody has ever gotten stuck in it. It has not broken and nobody has had to pay a single penny for anything to do with the elevator. It has been a very nice amenity for this home and we have received many thank you’s from past guests for having an elevator in the house, especially from older people.
4. Regarding the guest’s comment about large creeks they couldn’t jump over: Please realize she was talking about trying to walk 2 ½ miles north of our house to go to the Oregon Seafood and Wine Festival on foot. Yes if you walk that far on the beach there are some creeks too big to jump across. You would have to walk across them and get your shoes wet. But they are a considerable distance from our house. There is more than a mile stretch of sand in front of our house where there is no creek at all.
5. There is no need to ride in taxi's, just drive your own car.

Perfect family vacation home

  • 5 of 5
We stayed here to attend a family wedding and couldn't have asked for a better home base for our long weekend in Newport. The house is exactly as described, we had a range in ages from 2 to 60+ and it was comfortable for everyone. All the bedrooms were clean, kitchen was well stocked with supplies and super convinent having a washer and dryer.

There are two local beach access points, one a short hike right in front of the house and another a thirty second drive down the road- the beach is gorgeous and exactly what you expect and want in an Oregon coast beach. The views from the house are spectacular- we don't want to go home!

We all highly recommend this house to anyone looking for house to stay on the coast. The communication with owners was perfect and should we find ourselves in this area again this will be the first place we look to stay!

What a View!!!

We ten ladies of a quilting and knitting club enjoyed our stay. Such a lovely home with a wonderful view. We had a concern in the kitchen and the owners came right away to set things right for us. You can bet we will be turning many times.
The elevator was a great help to our old tired legs!!!

Great experience

  • 5 of 5
We live in the midwest but grew up in Oregon and we have a love for the Oregon Coast. All of our family is in Oregon and we wanted to go to the coast and spend time with our family. The house was so clean, nice, and big for all of us. It truly has spectacular views of the ocean and was very comfortable. The house is great for a large family. We will defiantly in the future stay there again. It does really have everything to offer.

Fabulous Oceanfront View And Very Fun

  • 5 of 5
I recently stayed in this beautiful home on the coast at Newport, with my family for a reunion. It truly was wonderful for all the children, adults, and us seniors. I am a grandma and have a really difficult time with climbing steps, so the elevator made it so easy for me to go from one floor to the other. I loved my time there as I could enjoy the ocean view even from the windows on the top floor. It has a really neat trail to go to the beach. It is well furnished through out with the kitchen having all of the tools that you need to make a meal for two or twenty. I really loved the kitchen as I do enjoy cooking and having the appliances & tools I need. There are lots of wonderful restaurants to enjoy, from gourmet to simple and popular, I enjoy April's restaurant for special times, and Mo's for clam chowder. They have a really nice bay with lots of small little shops to visit. There are lots of educational and fun side trips for the younger ones to enjoy also. The house was spotless and well maintained, plus the house was even better than the pictures on the web site. I enjoyed my stay there so much and would recommend it to anyone with a family wanting to have a vacation on the beach,
