As good as it gets!

  • 5 of 5
As much as possible, I stay in vacation rentals rather than hotels and this one is as good as it gets. The unit has everything you need for easy living in the tropical climate. With lots of grocery stores, fresh fish, a good bakery and coffee shop and Saturday open market you can prepare good food. The location provides quiet time away from the crowds in an area than can get pretty congested (Quepos to Manuel Antonio is a very popular destination) along with easy access to all of the attractions that draw people to the area. There are lots of windows/doors and every view is a pleasure. Annie and Barry provide lots of extras to be sure you have a good time.
If being connected to TV or the internet non stop is how you need to spend your vacation, Costa Rica should not be on your itinerary and if you stay here be prepared for sudden outages. They did not last long.
The locals (Ticos) are known for being very nice and I share that opinion. Annie and Barry, US ex-pats, fit right in!

Our wonderful trip for our 5 year anniversary!!

  • 5 of 5
We are sorry we are just now writing this review. We had an amazing stay at Villa Vista Verde. From the moment we arrived in Manuel Antonio, Barry and Annie were very helpful. We couldn't find the house, so Barry came and met us immediately to bring us to house. Our part of the house was perfect for the 2 of us. It was very clean, spacious, and accommodating. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was awesome! It was also very nice having a washer and dryer. The house was a perfect location to everything. Just minutes from great restaurants, beaches, and Manuel Antonio National Park. Barry and Annie were very resourceful to us throughout our stay. One afternoon we arranged for a massage therapist to come to our house and without Annie translating she would have never found us. Barry and Annie also made us a cake for our anniversary. Thanks again! Ya'll were wonderful! We plan to come back one day!

Just a lovely place

  • 5 of 5
When we arrived, Susan was very sick. Annie helped us find a clinic nearby and they were very efficient and all went well after that. We went to the "kids helping animal" rescue with Barry and Annie and took many pictures and learned about the work being done rescuing monkeys and birds from being pets. Also that they are starting to build rope ladders for the monkeys so they do 't get electrocuted.
We ate many meals from the beautiful. Modern kitchen within the suite and swam in their beautiful pool while the birds and monkeys watched from above. Sunset at the B52 restaurant is amazing. We loved the place and recommend here if you choose to visit the Manuel Antonio or Quepos area.
Can't say enough about how wonderful Annie and Barry are as hosts. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Owner's Response: Dear John and Susan,
Thank you very much for your very positive review. We are so glad that you both were able to enjoy your stay after Susan was treated locally for her illness. Thank you also for sharing the wonderful photos you took with us and with Kids Saving the Rainforest. If you are interested, go to their website. KSTR has put up over 170 monkey bridges and maintains them monthly. The rope for each bridge costs $100. As a result, the critically endangered Titi monkey (native only to Costa Rica)population has increased from 1200 to more than 3000.

A fantastic family vacation in Manuel Antonio!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I and our three boys, aged 11, 15, and 17, enjoyed one of our best family vacations in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica, and much of it was due to this beautiful vacation rental and our generous hosts. Annie and Barry went out of their way: picking us up and dropping us off at the bus station, sharing a fish dinner with our family, and taking us to a local animal sanctuary where they volunteer. And they were always available to answer our many questions about the area. Their home is built in the middle of the rainforest, and much of the wildlife we saw was on their property: monkeys, tree frogs, butterflies, and a variety birds. The first floor rental was clean, comfortable, spacious, with every amenity we needed, and the a/c and pool provided welcome relief from the heat and humidity.

The weather that week (March 12-19, 2013) was gorgeous: hot and sunny every day with one night of rain. We hiked Manuel Antonio Nat'l Park, went zip-lining at Hacienda Baru, went tubing down the lovely Savegre River, and spent a number of afternoons at the local public beach. And we were able to do it all without renting a car! The local bus system is efficient and cheap, and the nearest bus stop is an easy 5 minute walk from the house.

We highly recommend this beautiful, peaceful property and the Manuel Antonio area!
