My husband and I lived in Northern California all our life before moving to the Big Island in 2006. We love living here and hope to do so for a long time. Because we live 10 minutes away from our condo and know the area, we can answer questions and give recommendations to guests.
We had a wonderful trip. The condo is lovely and we really appreciate all the extra touches that made us feel at home. We hope to return soon!! Thank you again for your thoughtfulness.
“We bought our condo at Casa de Emdeko because it has a unique lay out for a condominium complex. This layout has the bbq's, dining area, one of the pools, and a man made sandy sunning area all facing the ocean. Besides a beautiful view when dining, bbq'ing, swimming and sunning or reading under a palm tree, you can meet people from all over the world which gives it a Hawaiian ohana feel. And, the sunsets can't be beat!.”
It is a big island so there is lots to do and see.
5 to 10 minutes away:
Two beaches, Kahaluu Beach great for easy snorkeling and watching sea turtles
Laaloa Bay Beach, also known as White Sands and Magic Sands
Kailua Kona Village with lots of restaurants and shopping
Historical places in Kona Village, the Hulihee Palace built in 1838 and the Mokuaikaua Church built in 1820 as the first Christian church in the islands and the Ahuena Heiau at the pier
Coffee country with local farms with some offering tastings and tours
Historical Place of Refuge and take the self guided tour
Two Steps next door to Place of Refuge for snorkeling
Hiking south of Place of Refuge
Other side of the Island, South:

Lots of various type of beaches, all good for different things whether you choose to swim, surf, boogie board, or just relax on the sand
Resorts such as the Four Seasons, Hilton, Mauna Kea, the Orchid and more
