House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, 6 Sleeps

Beautiful log home with panoramic views of Lake Hickory's main channel. This rustic style log home offers over 1700 sq ft and feels like a private escape. Rest and relax on the front porch swings and rockers while watching the sunset over the lake or jump in the water on private deep water dock with plenty of room to tie on your boat. The home is quiet private road with plenty of room for parking, yard play and boasts wide open water views on a peninsula. Public boat ramp only .5 miles away via road... visible from dock for easy in/out.

You can swim, fish, sunbathe or water ski right off the private boat dock and pier. And if you need more adventure, head 45 minutes north to take in some fresh mountain air as you hike or snow ski, depending on the season. You can even enjoy a family fun filled day at Tweetsie Railroad, located in Blowing Rock, North Carolina. Or you can travel 10 minutes to downtown Hickory (Furniture Central) for great shopping and restaurants. The options are endless so give us a try!

After your full day of excitement you can relax by the fireplace, play a game with your family or sit back and watch a movie. Or you can escape away to a room by yourself and snuggle in bed for some quiet reading time. The interior of this home displays beautiful woodwork, a stone accented fireplace, and a warm ambience throughout.

Aug 12, 2012 Wisconsin visiter 283 Kirkpatrick Rd, Taylorsville, NC, 28681, United States (292847) - Date of Stay July 26, 2012 My family (consisting of myself, husband, and adult children) stayed at this wonderful, quiet, clean home while attending a wedding in Hickory. Everything was as listed in the description. Not the easiest to find in the dark, but we made it, with the help of a gps. The beds were comfy, the home clean and easy to find everything we needed. The lake is calm, loved it. We even saw an osprey catch a fish, then a bald eagle tried to take it away! Would recommend!

Jul 8, 2012 Great Lake House 283 Kirkpatrick Rd, Taylorsville, NC, 28681, United States (292847) - Date of Stay July 5, 2012 Just spent a weekend at this very nice log home, and we had a very nice time. It is clean, right on the water, and comfortable. Kids had a wonderful time swimming off the dock, and the porch is a wonderful place to just plain relax. Owners very agreeable. I am pretty sure we will be back!

It offers wonderful views all around. From the swings on the porch to the dock by the water. Our kids were able to jump right off the dock as if they were jumping off a diving board and then pulling back up using the ladder. The mornings were so peaceful and evenings were serene with beautiful sunsets. We even went adventuring in the community park one day and then hiking in the nearby mtns of Blowing Rock. Thank you for allowing us to vacation at your home away from home.

Sep 13, 2010 Beautiful Relaxing Retreat 283 Kirkpatrick Rd, Taylorsville, NC, 28681, United States (292847) - Date of Stay September 4, 2010 We spent last weekend at this property. It was a comfortable and homey retreat by the lake. It is a handbuilt log home with the feel of a cabin in the Northwoods as you sit out on the porch swing watching the sun set over the lake, or sit by the fireplace with an evening glass of whatever you like to drink. You can watch the kids jump off the dock and swim as you sun yourself in the afternoon. We enjoyed making a group meal on the island in the kitchen. You can see the lake out the dining room window. We were outdoors on the porch and talked and watched the sunset while the kids played, and made s'mores after dark. Many vacation houses have a pre-fab white and beige vibe to them, but this property feels like a home. Lake Hickory is a clean and quiet lake and a relaxing get away in a peaceful house on the hill by the lake.

The log home was clean and spacious enough for 2 families. The owners were easy to work with and it was simple to get in and out. We brought our Jetskis. There is a really nice public landing right down the

Kick back and relax

  • 5 of 5
This property was accurately described, clean, and well maintained. The owner was very easy to work with and very helpful. If you need to kick back and relax, this is the place to do it. The covered back porch faces the lake with plenty of seating. We relaxed on that porch to the point of rocking ourselves to sleep in the rocking chairs! The next night, we sat around the fire pit and relaxed again with great conversation and s'mores. All we wanted to do was really relax and visit with some out-of-town guests and this sure fit the bill. A great place to just "get away from it all" which is what we all needed. Thanks so much for sharing this home with us.

Wonderful property

Had an amazing time at this beautiful home. Spent some great family time on the back porch overlooking the lake. The easy access to the boat launch made it possible for us to use our boats, making loading and unloading a breeze. We all agreed it was one of our favorite get-a-ways. The house was very comfortable and family friendly, we would definitely rent this property again.

The adverstisement describing the residence was accurate. The residence was very clean and well maintained. The instructions I received from the owner was helpful and useful during the stay. She gave good information on shopping for groceries. I would recommend the house and location to someone looking for a vacation home away from the hustle and bustle of cities.
