First Florida family beach vacation

  • 5 of 5
For our first family beach vacation, 10, 12 and 13 year old girls, parents and Grandparents, this was a great place to stay. As long as you can do stairs! The home is beautiful, an open downstairs area with kitchen and living room, and a place for kids to have privacy upstairs, every bedroom had a bathroom. It was very clean and well maintained upon arrival...altho sand has a way of getting in no matter how careful you are..daily sweeping necessary!! All furniture was nice, large dining table. The views of the Gulf from all rooms but one bedroom were wonderful to wake up to, and sunsets spectacular. Back deck is great , but sunny mid to late afternoon. The beach, a short walk down the boardwalk, was lovely, and relatively private, just neighbors, be sure to bring umbrella's or tents, the sun is intense. Sand castles don't last long, the tide comes in pretty high overnight!!! Dogs are permitted on beach, on leashes. There are quite a few turtle nests, roped off, and we didn't get to see a hatching, but still educational. Be sure to talk to one of the people from the Turtle kidding!! Bonfires, making s'mores and roasting hot dogs were great evening entertainment. Altho it was indicated to bring beach chairs, there were plenty there. BBQ grill was charcoal, not gas as indicated...bring charcoal and lighter. We rarely left the house and beach, (beach equipment rental is close by, and well worth it) although there are many interesting places to explore, and we did a 3 hour shark fishing trip. Great for kids, the all day fishing might have been too much. We cooked in almost every night. But the kitchen had no casseroles or baking sheets, or crock pot, important for family meals. There is a limited supply of paper products, and no cooking condiments, etc. some spices are there, you pretty much need to bring what you'll need. Washer uses HE detergent, which was not indicated. Check before you go to see what you might need to bring. Small quick shops are close, more shopping in Port St. Joe. Great restaurants & shops there. Sunset Grill highly recommended!!!! The home had a very relaxing atmosphere. Would go back again! The owner was very friendly and informational, and I enjoyed reading one of her books. However, you do rent through a rental company. We had t-shirts with a pic of Lime Pie house made for everyone before our trip...they were a great surprise hit, and will bring back wonderful memories!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your most kind words. I thought that I had corrected the grill from gas to BBQ. Will check on that. I changed it because of the recent dangers from gas grills. So sorry about the lacking items. This is a new home. When we go on vacation, I never cook. (I am a lousy cook). However, I will be sure to stock the missing items. What a nice thing to have shirts made. Would really appreciate one of your cards. We would love to post it inside Lime Pie. I'll just bet there will be plenty of others who do the same. Thank you again for taking the time to review Lime Pie. You are our first and we will be sure to provide the missing things. You left the house in great condition. Thank you for your interest in Lime Pie. Please come again. Linda Gerald
