About This San Francisco Neighborhood-

Neighborhood Description:

Duboce Triangle is a safe residential neighborhood bounded by Market, Duboce Park and Castro Streets. The neighborhood is dominated by two four-unit buildings of Victorian vintage. Housing prices are some of the highest in San Francisco. Tree-lined Noe Street features small restaurants, coffee houses, stores and cafes. Public transit is excellent. K, L, M lines stop at Church Street Muni Station, with F, J, N, 22, 24, 35 lines aboveground. This neighborhood is located in the center of San Francisco.

This San Francisco apartment would be perfect for corporate housing, San Francisco vacations, and long term San Francisco rental.

Our Family Favorites:

2223 Market: 2223 Market has managed to survive for several years without even hanging a sign outside - just look for the burnt-orange exterior and the street address. Its success rests on great cocktails (including the giant martinis) and a good wine list, which includes some well-chosen French and California wines. It boasts a varying menu of dependable California cuisine, featuring gourmet pizza and entrees with mainly Mediterranean influences. 2223's bright, sunny, art-filled interior and key position in a prime crowd-gazing portion of Market make it a good bet for casual drinks or a semi-formal dinner. 2223 Market St., (415) 431-0692.

Blue: Blue has become a popular hangout along the Market Street corridor by providing great views of the busy sidewalk outside and serving dependable American diner fare (a.k.a. 'comfort food') with a gourmet twist. 2337 Market St., (415) 863-2583.

Café Flore Locals used to call it 'Cafe Be Seen' for its remarkable magnetic power to attract big fish from the Castro's bohemian performance/music/film pond. With its giant wrap-around patio flanking Market and Noe streets, Cafe Flore is not the place to hide on laundry day - unless you happen to own a pair of fabulous cat-eye sunglasses - as you're bound to run into someone you know. Inside the glass walls, there's an espresso bar offering Italian sodas, pastries, all manner of coffee drinks, beer and wine. The kitchen, an order-at-the-counter affair, has a good selection of healthy salads and sandwiches. But remember to secure an outside table before you stand in line - the Flore is usually full up with dawdlers, scribbling in their journals or chatting about the newest underground performance art. (Jan Richman) 2298 Market St., (415) 621-8579.

Harvest Ranch Market: This popular boutique mini-mart provides a nice alternative to sit-down restaurant fare if you're in a hurry. Feast on locally-made breads (Acme, Grace, Metropolis and Il Fornaio), imported cheese, organic produce and a variety of health-food products similar to those carried by chains like Whole Foods. Harvest is also a good place to pick up quality pre-made foods, like wraps, pasta, sandwiches, soups, veggie sushi rolls, big brownies and cookies, and excellent (but expensive) pre-made rice and vegetarian/vegan salads. The sidewalk outside the store sometimes turns into an impromptu picnic area, especially on sunny weekend afternoons. 2285 Market St. (at Noe), (415) 626-0805.

Home: What was once swanky JohnFrank during the dot-com boom has been transformed into a cozy spot with reasonably priced, comforting food that people these days can't get enough of. Those who like a little Sunday brunch pick-me-up can hit the make-your-own-Bloody Mary bar. For $3, a server brings a glass with ice and a shot of vodka. You slide over to the fixings bar and add tomato juice or Mary mix, all manner of spices, hot sauces, Worcestershire, lemon or lime and a salad bowl full of garnishes from spicy green beans to anchovy-stuffed olives to the requisite celery. (Brunch is served from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.) 2100 Market St. (at Church), (415) 503-0333.

Lime: An eclectic small-plates menu in an eclectic atmosphere. Servers' thick white belts match the white pleather booths, where diners bask beneath the pink back-lit mirrors that line the ceiling. Monitors are embedded in the marble bar and bathroom mirror for those seeking more eye candy. Diners can dip triangles of grilled cheese into a Campbell's-inspired tomato sauce, and Moroccan-spiced lamb chops into minty yogurt. Cornmeal-crusted halibut joins guacamole in mini tacos, and grilled shrimp partners with a green papaya salad. The short dessert list includes chocolate cake with a pitcher of hot fudge and chocolate sorbet, and a trio of mini pot de cremes. 2247 Market St. (between 15th and 16th streets), 621-5256.

Squat and Gobble: The Squat and Gobble is a no-nonsense chain of about five restaurants in the the San Francisco area where you can get plentiful helpings of food at a reasonable price. Once you step inside the door, the menu is displayed in large format on the wall - divided by various categories such as Vegetarian, Eggs, etc. Once you have decided what you want, you place your order and are given a number to place on the table of your choice. It is not too long before the delicious meal arrives.3600 - 16th Street @ Market and Noe. Our FAVORITE FAST AND EASY BREAKFAST.

Trip to visit family

We could say ditto to every review. Henry St property is clean, exactly as pictured, comfortable bed, comfortable living room, well functioning kitchen. It is well located to restaurants, public transportation, walking to many places and between our daughter and her boyfriend. We appreciated having a garage but it was a challenge even with a Ford Focus. Two of the wonderful bath towels for each of us would have been nice. The restaurant and street noise did bother us on Saturday until after 1 AM (3 AM CST where our bodies still were). We could hear street noise(single pane windows) and the people upstairs but keep in mind we come from a private suburban home. We have stayed at about 10 vrbos and we would stay here again. It restored our faith in vrbo after a bad experience last September.

Location X3

The photos and description are very accurate. Modern kitchen and bath in a Victorian apartment. Excellent, clean, well equipped and maintained. It was a challenge getting a full size sedan in and out of the garage, but doable. If a small or mid-size automobile works for you, it would be considerably easier. Best restaurant: Delfina on 18th.

Perfect and Comfortable Location

This was the perfect flat for our 7-day walking exploration of SF. The residential neighborhood is pleasant and relatively quiet and perfectly located for public transportation - we used the Muni N line at top of Noe by Deboce Park for most access (it runs from Ocean at the west end to the Embarcadero and along the north shore), with a major line transfer at Powell. Also the F surface Muni has the same access, but from Market right by Whole Foods at Dolores. We were afoot most days, picking up something at Whole Foods only 15 minutes away for dinner. The bed was very cozy and the linens were wonderful. The nearby Jumpin' Java was a quaint, local hang spot for an easy coffee and breakfast sandwich or croissant. We did much better with the Senior $0.75 Muni fare that is transferable within 90 minutes than with any offered multi-day pass - 7 days for $3 versus $72 for two passes. Walking the Golden Gate Bridge was wonderful, (direct access from N west to 28 surface Muni). SF folks are very kind, friendly and helpful in providing recommendations and local information. Very simple connections for the Muni N line to the airport on the BART - just not simple to electronically buy the BART tickets at Powell Station - also, advertised senior discount is NOT available on BART for single trip.

Excellent accomodation in a perfect neighbourhood!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed here recently during a trip down the west coast from Canada. By the time we got to San Fransisco we were quite tired of eating on the road and driving for 5 hours a day, so this flat was perfect for us! The property was very well maintained and having access to laundry was great!

The location of this flat is perfect. We arrived by car, but San Fransisco is not a great place for driving, so the parking garage was great. We parked when we arrived and only took the car out when we left! The flat is within a couple of blocks to public transportation and we used it everyday to take us to AT&T park for the ball game, Candlestick park for the football game, down to Fisherman's Wharf, and over to Union Square another day.

There is also a Safeway right beside the main transit stop near the flat and we stocked up on groceries so that we could make dinner back at the place instead of going out for dinner. We had hoped to go to the restaurant below for dinner one night, but it was quite busy. Be sure to make a reservation.

Overall, this was an amazing place to stay and a great price for San Fransisco standards! We will definitely be back :)
