About the Owner

An enthusiastic New York and Harlem resident, always ready to give the inside scoop and recommendations on Harlem or NYC. Very involved in the neighborhood. A product, landscape and interior designer with numerous awards and items in national museums. In fact, the building has also been published in several magazines and appeared in films. Guestbook comments from the owner

Harlem Hideaway was a fantastic choice for our home away from home. Dennis is amazing and was helpful throughout the entire process. We are sad to be leaving and cannot wait to return.

We had a great time @ the Red Rooster our first night and the breakfast wraps @ Cafe Latte are a must!

Dennis thank you for the warm welcome and advice. We would not hesitate to recommend this clean accommodation, peaceful and close to everything. If one day we return to New York, we will return without hesitation in this apartment.

Felt like home

  • 5 of 5
At the end of a long day, we looked forward to returning to our home away from home. We felt the parlour apartment was spacious and relaxing, thoughtfully decorated, and well equipped. It was warm, and cozy. We loved the proximity to the north end of Central Park, the quick access to the subway system, the short ride to all points south of the park, and the quick walk to the bus that goes to LaGuardia Airport. Dennis inquired as to what our plans were, and helped us with tips and extras to help us on our way. At night, the apartment was very quiet, and in fact I slept better than I do at home! Worth every penny. Would definitely stay here again.

Old World Charm w/stylish updates

  • 4 of 5
My partner and I loved staying at this beautiful Harlem Parlor Apt. when we were in town doing business. It had all the amenities one could want or need and the location was very accessible with the train station only 3 blocks away. The neighborhood was good and we were able to "double park" when loading our bags in and out. Dennis was easy to reach via email and phone and made sure we were comfortable.

Loved everything about it!

  • 5 of 5
Our stay at the Harlem Hideaway Parlor apt was wonderful. Everything was exactly as advertised (if not better :), and Dennis is a wonderful host - met us at the door upon arrival, gave us a helpful tour of the apt and lots of good advice, and was completely available if necessary during our 3 day stay. The location of the apt can't be beat - Harlem is an awesome neighborhood to explore, and the subway is an easy three block walk. I would happily stay in the apt again and definitely recommend it.

Location

From the Owner

This building is typical of the historic neighborhood. I was impressed that it still retained so much of its original form and material. However, I was very impressed by the atmosphere of the block, with friendly, open and involved neighbors.

Amenities

From the Owner

The quiet friendly tree-lined street, proximity to express subway- only 4 stops to Times Square, closeness to neighborhood coffee shop and historic park, as well as the 125 St. corridor and Central Park. I actually love sitting on the front stoop while having a coffee or a glass of wine. I love seeing the relaxed street life going by, and being a part of it. Since my block is dominated by private brownstones, rather than apartment buildings, it has a friendlier, small town feeling than most other neighborhoods.
