Top Labor Day Weekend Deals

Labor Day Weekend DealsSummer’s gonna be over before you know it – send it off in style with a Labor Day vacation. A nice mix of festivals and events for Labor Day weekend 2009 are in the works, and they're absolutely worth a road trip (or even plane flight). As long as you steer very clear of the mega cities, you’ll save a bundle on a quick escape. Here are Vacation Rentals.com’s five favorite Labor Day weekend deals.

Before we get down to the details, when is Labor Day Weekend 2009? Labor Day falls on September 7th this year, so the Friday, Saturday and Sunday before (4th, 5th and 6th) make up the holiday.

1.    Virginia Beach, Virginia

What’s better than listening to great live music? Listening to it on the beach! The waterfront Verizon Wireless American Music Festival 2009 will feature the likes of Boyz II Men and Heart. It’s a fitting lineup, really. Wave side to side during “On Bended Knee,” and wave goodbye to summer. Also scheduled – the Rock ‘n Roll Half Marathon on the boardwalk.

2.    Hawaii

September’s part of the Aloha State’s shoulder season, so you can take advantage of fantastic Labor Day weekend deals. Heavenly hotspots like Kaiula-Kona, Waikiki, and Kihei are jam-packed with budget-friendly beach homes!

3.    Copper Mountain, Colorado

Bring the whole family out to the Copper Country Festival, a 3-day Labor Day celebration spotlighting an eclectic and impressive group of musicians: singer-songwriter Shelby Lynne, classic rockers America, and blues band Little Feet. For the kiddos, there's a mini rodeo, petting zoo, and face painting. But we're guessing the pony rides will be the highlight. Best part? It’s all free!

4.    Pine Mountain, Georgia

Feeling tied down to work, family obligations, and household chores? Well, leave earth for a little while. Take off on a hot air balloon ride at the Callaway Garden’s Sky High Hot Air Balloon Festival. Though, you’ll still technically be tied down – the ride's tethered. Pine Mountain’s Callaway Gardens resort and spa has hosted Labor Day weekend events for a decade now, and to this day, no other town has matched its unique twist on things. In addition to a sky full of hot air balloons (don’t miss the Friday night balloon glow), festival goers are treated to pancake breakfasts, live bands, kids activities, and miscellaneous fun on Robin Lake Beach.

5.    Long Beach, California

Sing along to the blues alongside the big blue ocean at the Long Beach Blues Festival. The 30th annual gathering of beach lovers and music buffs has a lot to live up to – past headliners include Etta James, Roy Rogers, Joe Cocker, and Macy Gray.
