Mountain Biking Vacations

Mountain Biking VacationsMountain biking vacations are combinations of mountain biking and camping.  For a taste of home, stay at a vacation rental.  By booking some of your stays at vacation rentals, you’ll periodically have the comforts of home after your long day of mountain biking. Here are some mountain biking vacation ideas that will make your mountain biking vacations a success.

Get a Guide

When planning your mountain biking vacation, you may want to look into programs that offer guided trips, which provide a guide to lead you through the paths.  A van or truck follows you and carries your gear with you.  You’ll stop each night and continue riding the next day.

Prep Your Bike and Your Budget

Thorough planning is the most important part of your mountain biking vacation.  You’ll want to plan ahead of time to make sure you have everything you need, that your bike is ready for the trip, that you have the proper budget for the trip, and that you have all of your vacation rentals booked throughout the entire trip.  It would not be a happy ending to your day to find out your reservation was never confirmed, and you don’t have a place to stay for the night.

Research Biking Trails

You’ll also want to know which trails you’ll be biking along your vacation and what to expect from them.  Are there steep climbs or rocky territories?  Knowing the features of the trails you intend to bike across and what kind of territory to expect will help the trip go more smoothly.

Who's Joining You?

Once you know where you plan to bike and where you plan to stay, you’ll want to know who’s going to be in your party.  If you’re planning on a family mountain biking vacation, you’ll want to make sure your children know the rules of mountain biking and how to ride the trails safely.  If you’re going with a large party, you’ll want to make sure everyone in your party is on the same page, and if they plan on staying together throughout the entire trip.  You should all get together and map out the trails you’ll be riding along, the places you’ll stay, and the direction you’ll head in to ensure that you all stay together.  If anyone gets separated at some point of the trip, you’ll know how to find one another.  You should also thoroughly discuss where you all want to go and what you all want to see on your vacation so no one feels left out or disappointed.

Packing Tips

After the trip is planned, make sure you pack properly for it.  Packing in advance will ensure that you have everything you need for the trip and that there are no surprises halfway through it.  You’ll want to include your helmet and other safety gear, proper clothing for the weather you’ll encounter, a bike kit containing any tools you may need, medications to last your entire trip, and any toiletries you’ll need on the trip.  You should make a list of everything you’ll need for your trip and check it off as you pack to make sure you have everything you need.

When your trip is properly planned, your accommodations are booked, your bike is ready for the journey, and you have everything you need for your trip, you’ll be able to start enjoying the idea of the trip and think about everything you want to gain from it.  You’ll be able to enjoy the journey, the view, and the company of your family or party.  Along the way, you may discover other nearby areas you want to explore.  Make sure they won’t take you off of your prearranged schedule so that you don’t miss a check-in time at your rental.  Relax and enjoy the ride
