Relaxation Holidays

relaxation holidaysWhen it comes to going on vacation, too many people come home saying, "I need a vacation from this vacation." Many vacations and holiday getaways are filled with activities and visiting the local sights, but for your next vacation, how about planning a relaxation holiday instead. Relaxation holidays are all about relaxing, rejuvenating, and coming home feeling refreshed.

Head to the Beach

One of the best relaxation holidays is at the beach. This is a perfect vacation for a low-stress family vacation with kids because kids would rather play on the beach and in the water than go to historic sites or on a hike. You can find vacation rentals that are located right on the beach, so you can head out to the beach after breakfast, relax in a chair with a beach umbrella blocking the sun, and then head inside for lunch. Your kids will have a blast building sand castles, looking for rare and beautiful shells, and splashing in the waves. Great beach destinations include Venice, Florida, right on the gulf coast; Tybee Island, Georgia, along the Atlantic coast; Newport Beach, California; and South Padre Island in Texas.

Spa Vacations

Another great way to have a relaxation holiday is by heading to the spa. This is perfect for a romantic getaway for you and your sweetheart or for a girls only weekend for you and your friends. Spas are made for relaxation with facials, body scrubs, mud baths, and massages. Many also offer skin peels and other skin treatments to make you look younger and feel beautiful. Phoenix, Arizona is a popular destination for spa relaxation holidays with many spas to choose from. Choose a vacation rental in the area and then spend the day at the spa relaxing. Many spas also specialize in teaching you how to eat healthy and organically and how to put your mind at ease with yoga and meditation. After a full day of relaxing, head back to your vacation rental far away from the distractions of other tourists. Many vacation rentals can be found out in nature with scenic views and relaxing verandas where you can watch the sunset. Other popular spa destinations include Miami, Florida; Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; and Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

Get Away from It All

The best way to find relaxation holidays is by getting away from the cell phones, Internet, and loud noises of the city and getting back to nature. You can find many cabins available for rent by lakes or in the middle of forests. Lake rentals are great in the summer so that you can relax in the cool water in the heat of the day and then sit by the fireplace at night enjoying the gentle flicker of the flames. If you're looking for a way to relax while spending time with your kids, bring along some board games or puzzles to play at night instead of watching TV. You can also build a camp fire and roast marshmallows. Lake Tahoe, on the border of California and Nevada, is a popular location for a family getaway. A less well-known lake that is lots of fun is Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, which has over 1,100 miles of coastline.

Wherever you choose to go for your relaxation holiday, the main thing is to relax! Don't plan out each day with an itinerary; instead, plan on doing nothing, basically, the whole trip. Don't worry about whether your kids will have fun. As long as there is water nearby (whether a pool, lake, or ocean), they will have a blast while you relax and have fun.
