A Nice Place to Stay

This was the first time using VRBO and found it very easy. The unit was on the 2nd floor, very roomy, clean and nicely decorated. The picture shows a leather couch in the living room but now they have replaced it with a futon. The trains stop around 11pm which was great. It's located close by the main drag (Carlsbad Village) and the beach. Don't need your car as alot of great eating places are within walking distance (Vera Cruz Fish House, The Grand Deli and Cold Stone ice cream). If your into antiques, there are some good ones to check out. The price is right when compared to other rentals that are further from town and the beach. A 7-11 is almost across the street so if you forgot something or run out of milk an easy walk. The owners were great to work with. We only live up the freeway in Orange County but love the atmosphere of Carlsbad and plan on returning again. We were really happy the owners let you rent for shorter stays for just a weekend getaway.

Perfect Location!

We loved staying at The Getaway. It was clean and had more than everything we needed. We slept well there. The owners are generous with towels and wash cloths and the cupboards even had food and spices in them which was a nice surprise. We loved staying so close to the beach and within walking distance to everything we needed. We loved hearing the train because our 3 year old son is very "into" trains. The condo was beautiful and very nicely decorated. Cozy and welcoming. The complex is beautiful too. We would definitely return and plan to one of these days. Thank you so much!

Perfect place to "veg"

This "getaway" did not disappoint. It was comfy, roomy, and nicely decorated. The location was very good--even the trains did not disturb us after the first night. The complex was very quiet--located on the second floor facing a well-manicured green open space. We enjoyed our wine sitting on the balcony at night and listening to the night sounds. All of this, and we were walking distance (2 blocks) from the ocean. We enjoyed the walkway at the top of the bluff, as well as the quieter lower walkway. Many restaurants were within easy walking distance. Having a full kitchen with a dishwasher was a dream for me. We ate breakfast and dinner "en-casa" and went out several days for lunch. We were so comfortable at home, that we did not feel the need to be constantly on the go.

Great location, Close to the beach, shops and restaurants. The condo looks great, the owners were great to deal with. We really enjoyed our stay!

The Perfect Getaway!

Lovely beach condo

Property was very nice. Close walk to the beach as well as food and shopping in Carlsbad. We had a great time and would not hesitate to go back again.

As much as we would like to say this was terrible it would only be for selfish reasons so that we'd have a chance of having this lovely property available when we book again next year. This idilic description of this property is absolutely accurate. Before booking our only concern was the notion that noisy trains would be passing ,but to the contrary the distant train horn was something we actually listened out for, bringing with it a strange sense of comfort. The property itself is beautifully decorated with ample storage and everything we needed to make it home from home. The snacks were a particularly welcome touch after a long drive. Thank you. The location is wonderful. Not only is the property perfectly situated with a short walk to the town and beach but it is in a lovely garden setting with beautiful flowers and aged gnarly old trees, there is a lawn where the children can play and meet neighbors too. With a convenient five minute drive to Legoland, Flower Fields and Strawberry fields there wasn't too much more we could have asked for. Overall a lovely home from home with a great location which we were sad to leave and look forward to returning to.

Great Spot

Close to everything! Get your cup of Joe and walk the boardwalk while hearing the waves crash. Take a stroll and wander the shops. The location was perfect, the place was adorable, and we had everything we needed! Highly recommend!

We just returned from a last minute trip to Carlsbad and were so happy to find this condo. As described, it is truly just a few minutes walk to the beach and to the main strip of Downtown, allowing us to easily walk into town for numerous restaurant selections without having to drive. It also is just a short drive to Legoland, which worked out perfect. The owners are extremely sweet and friendly, and provided us with everything we needed. The one bedroom plus pull out couch in the second room allowed us to have our family of 4 in one place, but not feel like our kids were right on top of us. The courtyard area in between all of the units made for a great place for the kids to run around and play with other visiting families. Definitely plan on returning!
