Great vacation villa!

Review submitted: May 20, 2013   Date of arrival: April 20, 2013

We enjoyed everything about this villa and its location on Kiawah Island. The villa is beautifully decorated, comfortable and felt like home. We had everything we needed (including laundry facilities) and the bed was especially comfortable. The sound of the surf was soothing and the beach was a short walk away. Golf at the Ocean Club was spectacular. Chez Fish was our favorite restaurant and we had dinner there twice. (Thanks for recommending it!) Angel Oak is a must see for nature lovers. The island was serene and peaceful in the spring and just what we were looking for. We highly recommend this villa and hope to return someday.

Kiawah Island Villa

Review submitted: May 6, 2013   Date of arrival: February 28, 2013

We wanted a special place to celebrate my husband's first day of "Retirement". We couldn't have been happier with our choice. The owner's of this villa have made it homey yet vacation feeling. Even though we knew the weather would and could be a bit chilly, we were close enough to enjoy the daily beach walks and bicycle tours of the island via the many walking/biking trails. One day we came across a gator sunning himself ON a turtle pillow. That was a photo shoot for sure. The villa is located in an area that is not too far into the island, but close enough to ride to ALL areas. The grocery shopping is near and great restaurants. You can bike from one end of the island to the other for a good workout or bike on the beach. The golf courses and tennis courts are the tops. The villa has all the accommodations you will need. Our evenings were spent sitting on the villa's porch with a glass of wine - listening and looking out onto the surf. A definite little "Piece of Heaven". I would recommend this villa to anyone AND we will be back in the Fall. Thank you for sharing your villa with the rest of us.

Wonderful Vacation Rental!

Review submitted: February 23, 2013   Date of arrival: February 16, 2013

My friend and I had a wonderful February get-away to Kiawah Island. Travis's remodeled villa is beautiful: All new floors, furniture, kitchen, bathroom, and appliances, and everything was clean and in excellent condition. The view to the ocean from the bedroom balcony is as beautiful as it looks on-line. It's a short walk on the boardwalk to the most beautiful, pristine, and nearly deserted beach I have ever been on. Travis gave excellent advice about things to do on the island, including restaurants to visit, bicycles rentals (take his advice -- biking on beach was amazing), nature tours, etc. Though we did not golf, all the courses on the island looked beautiful. I would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives.

Great Vacation Spot

The unit at Shipwatch Villas was just rennovated and we would descibe it as confortable elegance-perfect for a couple. We had a great stay. It is just 500 or so feet to the beach and then there is 10 miles of hard-packed, sand beach to walk or ride bikes. February was a great time to be there as there were no crowds - almost felt like our own private Island. This was definitely a place we would continue to come back to year-after- year and tell our family and friends. Freshfields is the shopping area nearby with upscale grocery store and wonderful restaurants. The Italian Pizza place is a must try - homemade pasta -yum. The Villas had free use of washers and dryers which was very convenient. Also the Island is not far from Charleston which is one of the most fabulous cities in the world. We even took a drive to Beaufort which is only about 90 minutes away and great history. This was a five star vacation for us. Carolyn

Owners response: Thank you so much for the wonderful review and i am so happy you were the first to see the remodel. We just came back from seeing the completion ourselves and are so happy. We went all out and way over budget but turned out perfect and with all the upgrades and the location of the oceanfront villa it has turned out to be our dream spot. In some ways we are scared to rent it out because of how nice it is but hearing feedback like yours lets us know that we are selective and pick guest that will enjoy it and treat as if it is there own. Many Thanks and hope you can return in the future to the island.

Holiday get-a way

A perfect week of biking, beach, long walks. Saw dolphins close up, daily. Deer close up (touchable), and walking along the water! Excellent proximity (drive) to super restaurants. The property is clean, well kept, private. The owners were extremely helpful with clear instructions, great tips, and were always available for questions. I would highly recommend this property for vacation, and we would certainly look forward to returning.

Recommended for: age 55+, sight seeing, romantic getaway

Owners response: We are so happy you enjoyed your stay. The villa and its location along with the wildlife can not be expressed in words. The fall is such a beautiful and peaceful time to visit. The upgrades/remodel will begin next week and hope you can come back to stay again and enjoy the new luxurious accommodations. We strive to recommend the local places we know that will not disappoint for dining and activities. We want all our guest to get the pleasure we do from this villa. Thanks for staying and taking great care of our villa.

Loved it !!

I absolutely loved this villa! As soon as we arrived we were greeted by grazing deer!! The grounds were immaculantly landscaped! Inside needed some slight updating but was very clean and comfortable and we had everything we needed for a fabulous week on the island!! The owner of this villa was easy to work with and provided me with lots of information on not only the villa but other things as well! We had an amazing week visiting Kiawah and I would highly recommend staying at this villa!

Owners response: We are so happy you had a wonderful stay in the villa and on the island. The villa is in the perfect location and the grounds are wonderful and views priceless. We just purchased the villa in july and received great reviews and many booking again for next year. We just met with the contractor and decorator so a full scale remodel will be performed this winer, hopefully to include tile throughout villa, all new cabinets, granite countertops, new appliances, tile stand up shower and bathroom remodel. We plan to make a great villa simply extraordinary. Thanks again and hope you can return to see the makeover.

Wonderful week at Kiawah

Review submitted: August 16, 2012   Date of arrival: August 5, 2012

My teenage son and I visited Kiawah Island for the PGA Championship in August. I was interested in a villa that had great beach access and was near the Straw Market for easy tournament shuttle pickup. This property was perfect! Although the villa does not directly face the beach, there is a nice ocean view from the deck and living room, and you can hear the soothing sound of the surf from the bedroom at night. The walk to the beach is VERY short via the boardwalk. The kitchen is well-equipped, and there is a new flat-screen TV in the living room. Beach chairs, towels, and even toys are provided. The villa is steps away from the Straw Market with its shops and restaurant. Another nice bonus is the proximity to Freshfields Village, an upscale shopping area with boutiques, restaurants, and a grocery store (about 5 minutes away by car). In short, if you are looking for a lovely, clean, convenient villa located very close to Kiawah's beautiful beach, this is a great choice. We had a very relaxing stay, thanks in part to the efforts Travis made to ensure that we had everything we needed. He was very helpful, and extremely easy to work with. I would certainly recommend this villa to friends and family, and I hope to return for a future vacation.

Owners response: I am so happy you enjoyed the stay with your son and the week of the PGA Championship. We try to provide our guest with all the information and activities for their stay before arrival and make the stay as enjoyable as possible. As commented the villa is in the perfect location being oceanfront and steps to the beach, a mixture gorgeous ocean and island views, ocean sounds from bedroom and living room. Also the proximity to restaurants and freshfield's village is great by bike or car. More upgrades to come this winter and thank you for being such a great tentant and hope you come back in the future to enjoy kiawah and the wonderful villa. THANK YOU.

What a great time~

We had a blast! The villa was adorable and immaculate! It was super easy to walk to the beach everyday and there was plenty of room for us and our 2 kids. Great location- easy access to ice cream and restaurants. We will be back for sure :>)

Owners response: I am so glad you and your family enjoyed our recently purchased villa. The location and views are great plus elevator access. It is the closest to the beach of any villas on kiawah and the quiet area of west beach and quick trip to freshfields village is the reason we decided to purchase this villa. We are going to make some more great upgrades over the winter to ensure our tenants vacation is one they will never forget. Thanks again and look forward to having you back next year.

Wonderful Weekend

Review submitted: July 14, 2012   Date of arrival: December 30, 2011

My husband and I had a wonderful time visiting Kiawah for the New Year's Eve weekend. The villa fit our expectations perfectly - a terrific location close to the beach, comfortable accommodations, and close to Freshfields, too. Craig couldn't have been nicer to work with, allowing us a later checkout than usual since it was New Year's Day, and we were out late the night before. I highly recommend this villa!!

Kiawah Island Villa

Review submitted: July 14, 2012   Date of arrival: October 20, 2011

My husband and I recently stayed at this one bedroom villa at Shipwatch on Kiawah Island. The villa was just as it was presented and was very clean. THe kitchen has all that you need, and beach towels were even included. I thought the view to the beach from the balcony was even better than the photograph showed on the website. The owner provided all that we needed plus recommendations of places to go and to eat while we were there. He was always quick to email back when I had a question. This was our first visit to Kiawah, and we loved it. The bike trails are wonderful, and you can ride for hours throughout the beautiful island. I would definitely recommend this property to others.

Views & Closeness to beach are unsurpassed price

Review submitted: July 14, 2012   Date of arrival: August 28, 2011

I picked the days of an earthquake & Irene to visit Kiawah but I still had a wonderful time! This villa is the perfect size for a solo traveler but a couple would also be comfortable here. It is decorated in French Country, very pretty. The views are beautiful, it's unbelievable how private the unit is, I felt as if I was on a tropical island all to myself! The boardwalk to the beach is at the elevator door- how much closer can you get?! I stayed at the beach til 7PM & then picked a different restaurant each night for dinner, & never left the island! The free WiFi was great, the kitchen has everything, the TV's are nice, & I loved the views. I will definitely be back soon!

Relaxing Week

Review submitted: July 14, 2012   Date of arrival: April 16, 2011

My wife and I had a wonderful weeks stay at Kiawah. The villa was as advertised and very convenient and close to the beautiful beach. Kiawah, of course, is lovely and absolutely first class. It is proximity to downtown Historic Charleston is an added bonus that we took advantage of a couple of times during our stay.

Kiawah June 2011

Review submitted: July 14, 2012   Date of arrival: June 25, 2011

My family had a wonderful vacation staying in this villa in Shipwatch. The location was very convienient for biking, shopping, dining and most important, the beach. The unit was as described and was a short walk to a beautiful beach. I would recommend bicycling down the beach toward the river in the morning and watching the dolphins feed on small fish. It was spectacular. It must have been a great vacation because even my two teenage daughters loved it. Looking forward to coming back in the future.

We Will Be Back

Review submitted: July 14, 2012   Date of arrival: April 2, 2012

Pleasant, comfortable, and clean villa in well-maintained building with very easy access to the short boardwalk to the beach took us only about a minute to get from the villa, down the elevator/stairs to the beach. The ocean is visible from the villa although much of the view is of lush island greenery also.
Kitchen is fully equipped for dining in or opt for one of the good restaurants available.
Biking on Kiawah is great, especially if you appreciate easy, leisurely riding on miles of bike paths in a beautiful setting.
Very good communication on the part of the owner, with clear instructions provided for what you will need to know while staying in his villa.
We would definitely rent this villa again.
