Your beautiful cabin home provided the Fountain Family with a weekend of memories. We had wonderful time skiing at Snowshoe and the hot tub after a day of skiing was just the icing on the cake. It was great to be able to bring our pets as well. We loved hiking around the property and enjoyed the view. Have a great time in the snow this weekend. It sounds like you will have plenty. Thanks again for sharing your home. We will definitely keep it in mind for future trips to West Virginia.

WINTER WONDER LAND

MY WIFE AND I STAYED A WEEK IN THIS HOUSE AND COULDNT HAVE ASKED FOR MORE. THEY PROVIDE EVERYTHING YOU WOULD WANT IN A HOUSE. BEAUTIFUL VIEWS, VERY SECULEDED, AND THE HOT TUB COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MORE INVITING AFTER A LONG DAY OF SKIING. AND IF YOU WANT TO STAY AROUND THE HOUSE THERE IS PLENTY TO EXPLORE. ON THE PROPERTY IS A BEAUTIFUL WATERFALL THAT LEADS DOWN TO THE ELK RIVER AND IF YOU LEAVE THE WINDOWS OPEN, IS LOUD ENOUGH TO PUT YOU TO SLEEP. WE RECOMMEND THIS HOUSE TO ANYONE THAT HAS A FAMILY OR JUST A ROMANTIC GETAWAY. VERY EASY TO GET TO. NOT LIKE ALOT OF OTHER HOUSES AROUND WHERE YOU DO NEED FOURWHEEL DRIVE OR CHAINS. IT SNOWED FOR 3 DAYS STRAIGHT AND STILL DID NOT NEED TO USE THE FOURWHEEL DRIVE EVEN THOUGH I DO RECOMMED IT. WOULD MOST DEFINETLY COME BACK AND STAY.

I have to be honest, my husband and I went back and forth about whether or not to write this review. We were afraid that if we told the truth, we may never be able to get another opportunity to stay at this cabin again because all the dates would quickly be taken. But being people who believe that the good things of the world should be made known, we decided to share our opinion about this cabin. This cabin will fulfill or exceed any expectations you have about what a log cabin vacation should be. The cabin itself is just as beautiful as in the pictures, and the view is even better. With all its appointments and beauty, both inside and out, there is one other aspect to the cabin which isn't mentioned in the description, that is how nice and accommodating the owner was to us. Jim's flexibility and accommodation tremendously enhanced our visit to this beautiful residence. We hope this review helps you in making your decision about whether to stay here. It is certainly worth the price and more. Thank you, Jim. We will definitely be staying with you again next ski season.

The perfect weekend with kids! we had 5 with us and they all enjoyed hot-tubbing and hiking and cooking and running around. We loved the big fireplace and the giant deck - not to mention the hot tub!

Great Time at the Moose Lodge

We went up for Christmas and had a blast! Great cabin, secluded but convenient to Snowshoe/Silver Creek. Ski Barn is right on the way for rentals, so that was very easy also. Kids (6 and 9 years old) loved the property (beautiful waterfalls!) and especially being able to settle in at night with an LCD TV (dish) and internet access also. We loved the hot tub also. Well equipped, would highly recommend.

Wonderful Place!

I just wanted to thank you for a great weekend getaway at the Moose Lodge (02/10 - 02/12). The cabin was awesome... very cozy, well kept, clean and has so much character.. we all felt right at home!! The view was breathtaking... we were very fortunate it snowed non-stop the weekend we were there it was beautiful to watch the snow fall and see our surroundings turn into a snow wonderland!! We all had such a fantastic time, this was our first trip to West Virginia and certainly not our last... I bet it's just as beautiful year round! I'm sure we will be back :)

Beautiful secluded property

My husband and I loved our stay at this house. It is surrounded by beautiful woods that are great for hiking. Barely a neighbor in sight. The hot tubbing was even more incredible because of the gorgeous stars you can see at night. The house was quite comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. There isn't much nearby (aside from Snowshoe) but we didn't want much around us. We would not hesitate to rent this property again. It was fantastic to be able to bring our dogs too. That was a really selling point for us! I would highly recommend this house for people who want to ski during the day and relax at night.

I am a New Englander who has been relocated to Northern VA since 2003. Occasionally I get to head back up north to visit and enjoy my favorite spots along the Kangamangus Hwy in N.H. Since I moved I have rarely stumbled upon a location that had near the same effect on me. The mountains and view's evoke a sense of peace thus far in my life unparralled; until that is our oddly free weekend, and need for a weekend of solice led us to this amazing spot in Slatyfork, WV. The owners accomodated a last minute rental (literally). As the sun poors into this log cabin, the light reflects off all the nots and the textures in the wood which almost makes it glow. As you step out onto the back deck you have an unobstructed view of an amazing mtn range, and glance down just below to see the field of wildflowers full of a rainbow of butterflies. It is private and peaceful, we all enjoyed the visit more than words could possibly convey, especially our Red bone Coonhound! We hiked, we biked, we enjoyed the views, we grilled. We even caught a great band at the Fiddlehead and made some new friends. Thank you so much for opening your home! I am a realtor and spend most of my days walking through houses, yours was one of the most welcoming I have seen thus far. I highly recommend this rental. We will definitely be back.

I just wanted to take some time to tell you how much we enjoyed your home in West Virginia. What a beautiful, serene escape! Your home is just what we needed for our little getaway in the mountains.
