Truly Great Experience

Review submitted: October 14, 2012   Date of arrival: September 23, 2012

My husband and I recently stayed here and enjoyed every minute of our week in this charming house. The location could not have been more perfect - near everything in Surrey Hills and just steps away from Crown Street where you can catch a cab to anywhere else in Sydney you might want to go. Central Train station was a 10 minute easy walk although we never walked back from the station as there is a fairly steep uphill on the return. The house looks just the way it does in the photos to include the fresh floral arrangements in several rooms which we found to be a lovely touch and the mattresses and bed linens were top notch. The owner Lindy was always easy to reach via email before our trip when we had questions and she rang the house while we were there to make sure everything was ok. There are a couple of good groceries nearby if you plan to use the kitchen and loads of great restaurants abound if you don't. We would definitely recommend this to others but perhaps not to those people who like everything shiny and new. This is an older home and is therefore full of character which we love but some people certainly do not. We would absolutely stay here again without question!

Great Home and Location

James (Guam)
Review submitted: July 26, 2012   Date of arrival: July 2, 2012

Three of us stayed at Lindy's house during the first week in July. The weather was a bit of a challenge for us (we are from Guam and Hawaii) being the middle of the winter, but the house was warm and cozy despite the chilly weather. Everything is as Lindy describes and pictures on the VRBO site. The location is great, not down by the biggest hotels at the harbour, but so close using the train from the main station or a bus. The neighborhood is upbeat and provides many excellent restaurants and shops, and there is a grocery store around the corner. Having a washer and dryer as well as the ability to cook was a real plus. Walking to Oxford Street or the station is easy, although there is a bit of a climb on the way back from the station. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely like to come back again to stay at Lindy’s house, perhaps during the Australian summer! One tip: before going out to by your groceries, check the pantry and freezer to see what others may have left. We did not and bought things we needn’t have purchased. Then leave your nonperishables for the next tenants!

Lindy was very helpful and pleasant to deal with.
location was fabulous, neighborhood was fun with lots of varied spots to dine all within a short walk, excellent food stores to shop at also in the immediate neighborhood.
downtown area was easily accessable by walking or bus if so inclined. We would highly reccommmend this property to anyone to use as a base to visit Sydney and its attractions. Sydey has some of the nicest people we have met in all of our travels

Surry Hills House Review

Review submitted: April 23, 2012   Date of arrival: February 27, 2012

The location was perfect for a week's stay in Central Sydney, with shops, bars, restaurants and all the major attractions within walking distance.

The house itself was great - loved the quirky layout and it worked for us as there were no children staying.

The only downside was that the BBQ wasn't working and we had to make last minute alternative plans for dinner guests one evening.

All in all, I would stay there again and would recommend to friends planning a trip to Sydney.

We had a great stay in Surry Hills. We loved the fresh fruit, fresh flowers and clean house. So close to the quaint and nice Surry Hills. Also close to the buses and trains that take you to wherever you need to be. Lindy was great to work with! We would highly recommend this place.

Very cozy and welcoming home in Surry Hills. Loved the fresh flowers and bowls of fresh fruit to welcome us. The neighborhood is great and full of very nice restaurants. Bus stop only a few steps away from the house takes you to Circular Quay, Botanic Gardens, Ferries.

My husband and I stayed here with another couple for a week, and we couldn't have asked for more! The house is lovely and in a very desirable location . . . we were able to walk to downtown Sydney with ease, and the Surry Hills neighborhood is full of great shops and restaurants if you want to stay closer to home. The house is well maintained and had everything we needed for our stay. Lindy was very helpful and easy to deal with. I would highly recommend this rental . . . if we ever visit Sydney again, you can bet we would book this place!

An inviting home-away-from-home that looks just like the picture! We enjoyed watching the birds from our outdoor patio, while just half a block away were all the amenities of the city - groceries, good restaurants, taxis and buses at our beck and call. We loved walking the neighborhood as well - with its shaded streets and not-too-hectic thoroughfares. If we come again, we know where we'll stay.

My family was in Sydney for a week and this place was great!! It was extremely clean, organized, plenty of room for the 4 of us. The owner made sure we felt at home! It is a uniquely laid out townhouse with everything you could possibly need! The location is great (a bit noisy at night though) because you are right in the heart of Surry Hills. It is only about a 10 minute walk to Central Station and you can take the bus to/from there if you choose. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!!

Our family of 4 stayed here in June 2009 and had a great experience. Wonderful location, great neighborhood, and a great place to come home after a day out and about. Easy access to all of Sydney and we would stay there again. Lindy was wonderful to work with for our first VRBO experience, but certainly not our last.

We spent the first week of our honeymoon here and had a great time. The location is fantastic - Surry Hills is a vibrant neighborhood in a beautiful city. It's close to public transport, but we actually walked to downtown most of the time. The apartment was a little funkier than we anticipated and seemed to be in need of some minor repairs, but nevertheless we were comfortable.

Owners response: The house has since been repainted

Hi Lindy
Well, we have arrived home safe and sound in Brisbane and wanted to thank you for the use of your home while we were in Sydney. It proved to be a spacious and comfortable "pad" in a fantastic, convenient location. The boys enjoyed the courtyard and bridge and thought they were staying somewhere very exciting. It was also very quiet

We (two couples) stayed in this unique apartment for a week in August 2007 and found it to be a wonderful location for visiting Sydney. The bus line is 1/2 block away, the restaurants are awesome in Surry Hills, and the shopping is interesting. Loved Chee Soon & Fitzgerald and the Planet Store on Crown for shopping and Kylie Kwong's Restaurant is worth the wait. This apartment was a great find and Lindy is wonderful.

We had a great stay in April 2007 and absolutely
loved the location. The house was very large and I
loved sitting out on the deck with my coffee and
breakfast from Bourke Street Bakery (around the
corner and not to be missed). The house was very
clean, comfortable, safe, with friendly neighbors.
A unique experience and much better than a hotel!

We enjoyed our stay in Surry Hills tremendously. The house offers more space and facilities than any hotel room could, it's located in a very central, convenient and pleasant part of town with great public transport or the chance to walk. Great food and restaurants are close by, too.

The flat itself is beautiful and very tastefully decorated, yet it has a "lived in" feeling to it which makes it very welcoming. We will definitely stay there again when coming back to Sydney.

The house was really a 'home from home' with everything provided that we could possibly need. There was plenty of space for our children, including a safe enclosed courtyard for them to play in. The location was great - a playground across the road and a direct bus into the city - but it was also very quiet. My elder son wanted to live there forever!

We stayed at the Collins St. residence for a week in November 2005. The location was perfect for us, with a number of restaurants within easy walking distance. The CBD was a 20 minute walk. The accomodations were unique, with two bedrooms separated from the living room/kitchen by a courtyard. Everything was clean and up to date, and very quiet. We would definitely stay there again.

We loved the location of this accommodation. You are right in the heart of lively Crown St. yet you have sufficient distance to allow solitude. Restaurants, Art galleries and parks surround you and inside you have a thoughtfully appointed, unique and extremely comfortable abode. It is well situated in relation to the city centre and the bus stop is just a few steps away. We'll be back!
