We Have Returned to Lehua for the Past 5 Years updated review

This property is in a quiet residential area. The neighbors were friendly and always shared a wave to us. I like the idea not being in a hotel, being able to prepare our own food, parking next to our room, not having to make a trek to our car. We enjoyed the peaceful sounds of the waves and the view of Waikiki. It is off the beaten path away from the cement jungle of downtown Waikiki. Fort Weaver Road can be difficult during rush hour but much less so than getting around downtown. In reality you're on vacation...why travel during rush hour? The kitchen is original but practical and includes everything you would realistically need to prepare meals. We often grill fresh fish on the supplied gas grill. The beach was great for the kids to play in the sand during low tide. At high tide they enjoyed splashing in the waves on the "smaller" beach. You can swim in the ocean during high tide but we typically go to better swimming beaches during the day.
One of the neighbors showed my kids how to throw a casting net and let them investigate an octopus he caught.
The house features high speed wireless internet that is dependable.
We leave the windows closed when we leave. The cool ocean breeze makes the house very comfortable in a matter of minutes once the windows are opened upon return.
We go to Costco and load up on groceries when we get there, but buy our fresh produce at the local farmers market. It is open Fridays at Ewa Beach Community Park, 91-955 North Road 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Don’t get there late. They sell out quickly.
Kim the property manager was immediately responsive when we had an electrical issue one year. She is a gem that is filled with aloha spirit.
We have been returning to Lehua for 5 years every summer. When we arrive, there is a feeling of peace that envelops us. It is a very relaxing vacation spot. We have been lucky enough to enjoy vacations there which have given us our favorite family memories.

We had a great vacation at this beach house, away from the crowds and traffic of Waikiki!
The beach is all yours and you can walk for miles. Great view of Diamond head and night lights of Waikiki. Even can see the fire works from the Hilton on Friday nights 7:45.
Close to shopping; a new Safeway, Foodland and Longs all along Fort Weaver Road with Costo and Walmart not far to drive to. Lots of room for the family and spent most of the time out side eating and relaxing on the great lawn chairs. Fully stocked kitchen with everything you will need.
Just wanted to mention the neighbors are friendly and stop to talk story young and old! We had no issues with safety and to reasure people you can stay in this area. I know some forums advise not to stay in this area but you will miss out on having a true Aloha experience if you stay with Waikiki or East ward.
Mahalo again Rick for letting us use your beach house.

The air was so bad in the home from dust and mold that we couldn't stay there and went to a hotel. After some time and prompting, we were given a partial refund.
Owners response:
Thank you for your review.
We take our homes conditions very serious. We realize some clients may have allergies and special needs. We hope any future visits may change your review or possible try our other ocean front locations with less tropical foliage. Mahalo.
Please note: We do have a Hawaii rainy season. Highly sensitive clients to moisture and tropical conditions may be more inclined to stay in a more concrete based location like Waikiki or a high rise location. Granted we are not in Waikiki and we do not have concrete surrounding our home. If you have allergies this may be an option for your stay during the high rainy season. Our grounds are covered with palms and large grass areas. We are also waterfront with a sandy beach access. The grounds do absorb moisture and may emit natural odors. Unfortunately our allergic client started her holiday at our two week stretch of rain in March. This was a factor for our sensitive and allergic client. We do all we can to assure our home is clean and ready for your holiday enjoyment.
Our previous and past clients reviews says it all. It was also brought our attention that the clients ahead and behind the highly allergic client had nothing but praise for the home. We have reviewed the home and the conditions to ensure any issues have been addressed. We expect our clients will have the time of their lives at our beach house Lehua.
We do our best for our clients and refunds do occur. Our refund policy does enable cleaning and loss of use for a cancellation. Normally, we will have to rent the home to accommodate a refund. We did our best for our clients in any situation and 85% was refunded with a vacancy for the specific time frame.
Our clients mean a great deal to us and it is our duty to ensure a spectacular home, conditions, and location come hand and hand.
Thank you from Kim, Danielle and I. We look forward to each and every client and their holiday enjoyment is everything to us.
Our beach house is always a rainbow of happiness and we will always do all we can keep it that way. Many thanks and aloha to you and yours...

Just returned to "real life" after a great vacation. The Lehua house was about perfect. Very clean, quiet, and peaceful. Close enough to the "attractions" without being surrounded by the crowds. Hard to find a better way to enjoy a cup of coffee, than sitting on the Lehua wall, watching the sunrise, toes in the sand just feet from the surf. Be sure to say "Hi" to "Tammy the Turtle" for us (named by my 12 yr old daughter). The turtle came ashore three nights in a row. Just plain cool. Must check out the Polynesian Cultural Center, Ko'Olina Ocean Adventures, and pay your respects at The Arizona Memorial! We were not disappointed. Thank you Rick and Danielle for sharing Lehua with us. We would book Lehua again without hesitation. Mahalo

Owners response: Mahalo and much aloha to you Jeff and Andrea. It's really a blessing to be able to feel the warmth of Hawaii when you are away from the island. We are so very happy that the trip was all you expected and more. Kim our assistant is so very helpful and amazing. May you have years of aloha to follow and should you return may the Turtle Gods Bless you again. Welcome to the ohana. Mahalo again...

Dear Rick and Danielle,
We had a great time and we were very comfortable at the Lehua House! We especially loved the sound of the ocean at night and the birds during the day. It is such a beautiful place. And the neighborhood is great. The neighbors were really friendly and helpful.
All the best,
Charollet and Jim

The house was perfect for me & my 3 adult children. I am originally from Hawaii, and have a family home there that my father, brother & his girlfriend & their son live in. We wanted to stay near a beach and entertain some of the kids cousins. The house was perfect for that. The back yard was right on the beach, so the atmosphere was really good for a Hawaiian vacation. My oldest son brought his girlfriend and 2 kids. This was their first trip to Hawaii, and they enjoyed running in & out of the water, and also playing in the sand.
The owner, and property manager were attentive to our needs, and the house was very clean. The only down side that I can see, is that there was only 1 bathroom in the house. There was another toilet facility, though, that was in the laundry room that was adjacent to the house, so that worked out well.
I would definitely rent Lehua again, next time we come to Hawaii as a family.

Our family stayed here in November over Thanksgiving 09. We had an absolutely wonderful time and can't wait to return we are planning our next trip as we speak. We were there for 10 glorious days and that was not enough! You can't imagine the Aloha spirit you get from staying at this location. Ewa Beach is truly a hidden secret. I have mixed feelings about posting our wonderful experience, we don't want too many people to find out about this!!! (hehehehe) Would definitely recommend this to anyone, families or honeymooners this is suitable for anyone wanting a wonderful Hawaiian vacation!

We spent 11 nights on Oahu in late February 2008. It was an excellent vacation punctuated by our stay at Lehua.
The house is exactly as described by Rick in this ad; it's an older, very well maintained home that sleeps 6 comfortably, as long as there are two people in each of the two queen beds. The kitchen has everything needed to prepare and serve all meals. The living area is very large and leads directly onto a small covered patio, which then leads out to a manicured lawn, from which you step directly onto the sandy beach. The water, at high tide, is maybe 40 feet from the living room windows.
We snorkeled and boogie boarded right out front. There were LOADS of fish only twenty feet offshore. We frequently saw turtles and once even shared the beach with a monk seal sunning himself.
Obviosuly, we enjoyed our stay. Rick was friendly and helpful, quickly resolving 2-3 things that came up during our stay. We hope to return soon.
