My husband and I took our 5 kids, ages 15 to 30, here to spend Christmas week together. The minute we walked in, we felt right at home - warm, comfortable, inviting decor in beautiful surroundings. It was whisper-quiet the whole week - just what we were looking for! We enjoyed evenings around the fireplace and daytrips to Maggie Valley to ski (as well as Sapphire Valley Resort... 10 minutes away!), Highlands, and Brevard. Thank you, Andrew and Susie, for sharing your cozy cabin with our family! We'll be back soon!

Owners response: We're so glad you enjoyed your Christmas holiday at the cabin! It's always such a special time of year in the mountains. Sounds like you were able to get in lots of activities nearby. The first time we spent the holiday at the cabin it snowed both on Christmas and New Year's night. It made our stay especially memorable because it was the first time our daughter ever saw snow! We hope the entire Smith family can meet up in the mountains again soon!

This is a beautiful property as pictured, very upscale! We especially liked the easy access and master bedroom on the main level. Two bedrooms upstairs with T.V. area was perfect for our daughter and two children. Access to the amenities at Sapphire Valley was a big plus. Owner was quick to respond and very helpful.

Owners response: Thanks so much! We are so glad you enjoyed your time up in the mountains. The amenities are a big advantage we're able to offer with your cabin rental. It's one of the main reasons we were attracted to Cashiers / Sapphire. There are over 5,700 acres of land that comprise the Sapphire Valley Amenities! That's a lot of space not only for golf, tennis, swimming, skiing, hiking, boating, fishing, recreation and fitness, etc., but ample area to explore, discover and simply enjoy nature's beauty! Please come stay with us again:)

The house is beautiful and the surroundings are peaceful. We even got to see a bear from the back porch. The sheets were some of the most comfortable I have ever slept on. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
Recommended for: girls getaway, sight seeing, romantic getaway
Owners response: It was our pleasure! We've yet to get a glimpse of the local bears, but we hear about them often. Those commercials you see about bears are all true, so it's always good to remember we're in their territory and should always pay attention. We also like to remind our guests to place the garbage lids on securely not only for the mess bears can make, but also so that we don't indirectly feed them.

My husband and I stayed here with our 3 children (11, 9 and 5) this past summer. It was a great vacation and a wonderful place to stay. It is close to Highlands, white water rafting, hiking, horseback riding, etc. The pictures don't do justice to the warm and cozy feel of the place. It is very nicely decorated and everything you need is there. The kids had plenty of room to spread out inside and run around outside. They loved swinging on the porch swing and exploring the woods! We used some of the Sapphire Valley amenities, including swimming at the lake and had we stayed longer would have taken more advantage of those. We will definitely be returning!

Owners response: We hope you can stay longer on your next visit! The cabin and surrounding area does provide a fun, safe environment for children to play. Whisper Lake is one of our favorite places to swim within walking distance. Next time take a short drive to the community center and try out the indoor and outdoor pools, saunas, and hot tubs (there’s also a spa for you)! The children will also enjoy playing miniature golf while Dad hits the greens or stays behind to watch a game on TV in the man cave!

The house was lovely and furnished in excellent taste from designer linens and beautiful tableware to
fabulous lighting. The location was quiet yet close to the Sapphire Valley Resort Center and the Sapphire Valley National Golf Course. We found some great restaurants in Cashiers and Highlands,
hiked Whiteside Mt., Glen Galls and Whitewater Falls and even zip lined in Lake Toxaway. Some of the highlights were the tour of the designer showhouse in Cashiers, the Bascom museum in Highlands and the Biltmore Mansion in Asheville. Great antiquing and shopping as well.

Owners response: We are delighted you had such a full vacation! It sounds like two weeks may not have been enough time to see and do everything! Like you, we wish everyone would utilize the area to its full advantage. There is so much to do and see nearby (we didn't realize neighboring Lake Toxaway even had a zip line)! Until you've seen the area first hand, you can't imagine the pristine beauty in these mountains. You're not just golfing, or fishing, or boating, or hiking. . .you are experiencing these activities immersed in some of the most beautiful, lush surroundings to be found anywhere. Please visit again soon! Susie and Andrew

Our family had a great time at this lovely home in the woods. We enjoyed cooking and relaxing in the house as much as we enjoyed the numerous outdoor activities the area has to offer. The listing description was accurate and the owners were very helpful and responsive. We would most definitely return!
Recommended for: age 55+, girls getaway, sight seeing, romantic getaway
Owners response: Marti and David it was a pleasure having you at the cabin! We're delighted you enjoyed yourselves and hope you'll return again (hold on to the discount postcard to receive 20% off your next visit). Summertime in the mountains is typically cooler with lots going on in and around town. It does get a bit busy and crowded, so you might try the winter season. You'll find yourself staying a bit closer to the fireplace and making big pots of soup after a day of snowboarding, tubing or skiing! Hope to see you back soon!

We are on the hunt for a retirement destination and decided to try NC mountains on our last vacation. Well. this "beach girl" is a convert. We loved the area - convenient to so much from the Biltmore Estate to the various waterfalls. The thought of 4 seasons in this area is enchanting. Of course the best seller was this beautiful cabin - it was a true luxury home and let us see the possibilities for a comfortable and elegant retirement.
Recommended for: age 55+, romantic getaway
Owners response:
Congratulations on your retirement! We hope to follow your plan some day. . . So glad you enjoyed the area and the cabin as much as we do. It's a beautiful place to land and we wish you all the best!
P.S. Once you're settled, bring your relatives and friends up from FL for a family reunion at Sapphire Run! We'd love to have you back.

We just spent a week at Saphire Run and we loved everything about the house. The beds were comfy with nice linens, the kitchen very well equipped and spotless, the livinig area charming and a perfect place to spend a cozy night with a roaring fire while the snow falls outside. We loved it and would definitely classify this rental as "excellent".
Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, sight seeing, romantic getaway
Owners response: Thank you!!! The one thing we try to provide at Sapphire Run, is a comfortable home base for you to explore the area from. . . When we travel, we look for convenience and a little touch of luxury, because it's vacation after all! So, we're glad you were pleased after your long days of hiking and sightseeing. Please visit again soon!

I hesitate to write a great review about this property ... because i'd love to keep it for my own secret hideaway. The property is beautiful (better than the photos) and the owners are extremely nice and easy to talk to. My bride and I needed a Christmas getaway (from the real world) and this was the perfect place. Secluded and comfortable. Very clean and beautifully decorated. Everything you'll need. If I were going to buy a place in the mountains, I'd want this place.

Owners response: Thank you so much for the kudos! Likewise, we wish all tenants were as great to deal with as you! Please come back and stay with us again soon. We'd love to have you see the area in the summer or fall (although the holiday season is one of our personal favorites)! Thanks again! Susie and Andrew

Lovely home in a very quiet area. It was well mainyained and very clean. If you are golfers, you should know that the Sapphire Valley golf course was in very poor condition during late summer 2011.
Owners response: The Sapphire valley area was hit with 12" of rain in just 11 days this past July. Unfortunately, it takes Mother Nature time to repair 'wet wilt' damage. Sapphire National Golf Club was named one of the top 100 courses in 2011, so we hope you'll give us another try!
