Wood walls and ceilings, exposed beams comfortable bedrooms, well equipped kitchen, and well thought out instructions and lots of extra amenities made this elegant place comfortable and easy to enjoy. As soon as you enter the door you'll feel at home and hope that some day you can own a place like this. Kudos to the owners for creating a perfect North Country experience.

Cannot say enough good stuff about the house. It's even nicer than the pictures show. Cozy yet large enough for a multi-family getaway. The central location puts it close to downtown North Conway as well as the ski areas and Echo Lake/Cathedral Ledge. The home was well furnished, clean and well maintained with extra linens, towels etc. There was plenty of good dry fire wood (a must in the north country in the winter). The owner was great to deal with and timely in all correspondence. We have rented a lot of different properties in the North Conway area over the years and this was one of the best. We are already looking forward to next year! Strong recommend!!

We really enjoyed our stay here. As other reviews mention, the home is very well-maintained and clean. We were 2 families (10 people) and had enough space for everyone. The finished basement was perfect for the kids and the large dining room table worked well for a group of our size. We loved the location - we skied at Mt. Cranmore which was less than 10 minutes away. The log cabin style home has lots of charm.

Could not have had a better experience. The photographs do not do this amazing place any justice. The owner was a pleasure to deal with. The house was very clean and the backyard was a great space to spend time in. I was there with a group of friends for a New Year's celebration and everybody was so impressed with the home, that we all decided to return next year. It was totally private and peacful yet attractions, shopping were all a short drive away. I would strongly recommend the owner and property and definitely would like to stay there again.

We spent 6 days at this home in Sep 12 after my daughter found the property listed on the internet. There were 6 adults and 3 children (two 3 yr olds and one 18 mos old) in our party.
My daughter corresponded with the property owner to set up the rental and he was always very responsive, answering any questions we had thoroughly and promptly by e-mail.
We found the location, just off Main St in North Conway, on River St, to be very convenient. It is less than 5 minutes from N Conway if you want to use the restaurants there, go shopping at the outlet stores, ride the scenic railroad located in town, etc. But you can also avoid the Main St traffic if you just want to head to locations that are north or south. With West Side Rd, right from the house, you can go north to Rt 302 (to places like Crawford Notch, Santa's Village, Storyland, etc) or south to Conway (to places like the Kancamagus Hwy, North Woodstock, etc). Diana's Baths is only a few hundred yards from the house and a nice walk. North Conway is extremely busy in summer and pretty busy overall year round so traveling through town can be a nightmare and this location helps avoid that if you are not doing things right in town.
The house itself is very nice, well equipped kitchen, comfortable furniture and beds, quiet location, etc. The swing set and basketball hoop are nice for the kids, there was a box of outside toys on the porch to use (whiffle balls, basketball, frisbees, water guns, etc). There are plenty of TVs and satellite or cable, along with a DVD player. The master bedroom is upstairs and nice and large. There are 2 bedrooms on the main floor, just off the kitchen/living room, and they are separated by a shared bathroom. There is a bedroom in the basement but no bathroom there. The kids did use the pass to the fitness facility to take the little ones to the pool and that worked fine. It is 5-10 minutes from the house up on Rt 302. If you don't want to cook there are tons of places to eat in town, or just outside town. We tried Horsefeather's and the Muddy Moose (both good) and the kids went to the White Mtn Cider Co one night and enjoyed it as well. Also went to the Lobster Trap on West Side Rd - looks a little run down but food was good and prices very good with the "early bird special."
Overall this is a very nice place, a great (and quiet) location, and the owner is great to work with. I'd recommend it if you are planning a stay in this area.

As soon as we pulled into the driveway to this beautiful log cabin home, we knew we made the right choice! Beautiful and convenient location! Close enough to town but tucked away in the woods...so peaceful! The home was so clean and so well kept and provided all the things we needed for our stay there. Between the swing set and basketball hoop outside, the loft, and the foosball table in the basement, the 4 kids had plenty to do! We chose to go to Santa's Village which was an hour drive from the home, but what a beautiful, scenic ride it was! We also went to Cranmore Mountain to ride the roller coaster and zip lines! We will most definitely stay here again when we venture to the White Mountains in the future. Thank you for such a great place to stay!

As soon as we got to the cabin, we were in love! The privacy was amazing, and the setting was so serene! The kids played basketball in the driveway, while we unpacked. My six year old and her friend played on the nice wooden playset in the yard. With all of the amenities of home, we were not without anything...Even extra soap, shampoo and razors were supplied just in case we forgot ours. (Nice touch!) My son soon came inside to check things out, and was so impressed with his surroundings, that he actually asked if we could live there! This was even before he saw the awesome foosball table downstairs! After claiming our stake on the huge master bedroom, we found my husband's favorite feature...the t.v. in the master bathroom! The cabin, itself, was amazingly beautiful, and extremely spacious. Our first experience with Home Away was a delightful one. Dave (the owner) was very helpful, and accommodating! He handled our questions very quickly, and was very pleasant! I would definitely suggest this property to anyone looking for a nice getaway, or a family trip. The cabin is set away from the bustle of the town, but is also just a short drive to the stores, movies, and attractions. I will be looking forward to our vacation again next year!

Second Year Staying Here in August

Review submitted: August 18, 2012
Date of arrival: August 11, 2012
This is our second year staying at this Lincoln Log House. This is what my 3 year old grandson calls it. Wither bear theme decorations we read lots of Bernstein Bear books to the children while staying here.
We had 4 adults and 2 children ages 31/2 and 1+ year olds. The main attraction for us is Story Land which is a great place for young children. Diana's Baths was a lot more fun this year to play in the water and jump rocks. Pirates Cove miniature golf was a blast for a 3 year old.
In August you can purchase the Story Land season pass which is good this year and next year. You can go on hikes or swim at Echo Lake and then hit Story Land in the afternoon.
With young children that are very tired at the end of a long day, it is much easier to cook dinner in the house rather than try to eat out in a restaurant. What you save in doing your own cooking make it cheaper then staying at most hotels. On days when it rains, it is much more comfortable to be in a house, when you have young children.
I was also able to connect my computer to the high speed internet and do some business work.
The neighborhood where the house is located is extremely private with all new houses. We felt extremely safe here with no worries.
Hopefully we will be back next year at the Lincoln Log house.

Great stay and a perfect Mount Washington Valley location!

Review submitted: August 30, 2011
Date of arrival: August 20, 2011
Our family recently converged in the North Conway, NH region for a week as part of our celebration of my parent's 50th anniversary. We typically travel on an annual basis to the Mount Washington region and have stayed at local Inns, Hotels, and B&Bs. This is the first time that we have rented a home.
Our experience in renting this property was extremely positive and we had a very comfortable stay. We were a group of six adults and three children. The owner is professional, responsive and extremely well organized. We arrived at the property and it exceeded our expectations - I agree with previous reviewers in that the photos do not do the property adequate justice. The log home was very clean on arrival, and everything was as advertised. We also received an advance package from the owner with everything we needed.
The property is located in a very quiet, peaceful wooded area, but only minutes from North Conway. The location is an ideal base from which you can easily explore the entire Mount Washington Valley. We enjoyed some great family meals at the house, which has a well equiped and fully functional kitchen. The house has wi-fi and a wonderful and relaxed living space that was perfect for family movie nights (we brought a number of movies with us). We enjoyed hiking (one of of our favorite hikes can be reached right from the house), shopping, dining, a trip to Santa's Village and a great game of mini-golf (the guys won). We used the pass to the Attitash sports club (and pools) with absolutely no problem. The facilities are no more then 10-15 minutes up the road.
Finally, we were visited by wild turkeys one morning, much to the delight of our six year old daughter.
We hope to have an opportunity to stay at this property again, possibly for a winter ski trip. We have absolutely no problen recommending this property to others considering a home rental in the North Conway region. From our inital contact with the owner to returning the keys to the house after our stay, our experience with this property has been first-class.

Review submitted: August 16, 2011
Date of arrival: August 7, 2011
This place was better than the photos. Very new, very clean, comfortable beds, nicely decorated, large selection of cooking utensils pots and pans. My wife and I, daughter, and son with his wife and two young children. The two children were 2 and half and 6 months old. With the two young children this place was perfect place to relax and cooking in was easier than going to a restaurant. We also used the BBQ charcoal grill twice. It was minutes away from Storyland and beach at Echo lake was nice. Tupbing and kayaking is also just down the road. I personaly would take quick hike to Diana's baths from the log home. Our 2 and half year old grandson loved the Lincoln log Bernstain Bears home, which had a slide and swing set and some blueberries to pick.
Since it was cool most nights AC was not needed at night while we stayed. Bedroom upstairs had AC and Living room had AC. Cabins was well stocked with a number of window fans.
Only minor comments was kitchen could use some deeper cereal bowls and WiFi internet router did not work well. Connecting my PC to the internet with Ethernet cable worked fine, for the short time I had to do some work at the desk up stains.
Excellent place for family.

We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation in North Conway and in particular our stay at your log cabin.
After a long drive from New York, the local directions you provided were really helpful , we managed to get to the cabin without any trouble. Located in a quiet but not remote location with all the facilities you could want a short drive away.
On arrival we were really impressed with the idyllic surroundings and with your beautiful cabin, which was clean and welcoming and provided us with everything we could need. The beds were made up for us and plenty of towels had been left as promised. The reef on the door was very festive and we appreciated the Christmas decorations left for us to put up if we wished.
We found the cabin itself very spacious and ideal for the six of us. It was beautifully decorated and had a really cosy feel. We really liked having use of the fire, which was amply provided with kindling and logs, and enhanced the Christmas ambience. Many nights we made use of the kitchen facilities and loved the fact that there was a large table for the family to sit around and enjoy family meals together.
We were lucky enough to wake up one morning to snow, just in time for our planned skiing days at Attitash. It was especially impressive as to how efficiently snow ploughing took place, even ploughing the drive by 9 am. The roads were kept clear throughout enabling life to continue as normal (but in even more beautiful surroundings). We thoroughly enjoyed having the chance to ski and really appreciated how close all the facilities were to the cabin. The ski package at Attitash was fantastic value and the staff and guides were so helpful. Some of us also made use of the gym facilities near the ski resort and we really appreciated having this as an option.
We also made the most of the local area, including shopping at the local mall, walking round the town and visiting the cinema. We had such a lovely time and would not hesitate in coming back and staying at your cabin. We would definitely recommend your cabin to others wishing to experience a once in a lifetime vacation.

My family stayed here last March and we are heading back this weekend! This home is fabulous, especially when covered with snow! So cozy and welcoming. The photos do not do the home justice! The kitchen was well equipped, everything was clean and orderly. Plenty of space for sleeping, we have 8 people to accommodate. My only suggestion would be to replace the Foosball table with a pool table! :0) Looking forward to this weekend!

This was the first time we have stayed in a privately owned rental property and it turned out to be a wonderful experience for everyone! To be honest, I wasn't quite sure about it based on the photographs. If you stay here, you will understand what I mean, as the photos don't do the property justice.
We are incredibly fussy travellers, but found this property to be very clean, well equipped, quiet, spacious, comfortable and in a great location for us to make our rounds to Storyland, Santa's Village, Clark's Trading Post, and North Conway Village. It is close to Cathedral Ledge and Echo Lake, and Diana's Baths, which are both just a short drive away and offer short hikes and splendid views worth taking in.
We stayed for 3 nights in June of 2010 with 6 adults and 1 child. Everyone had private space to relax. There were games, books, television sets in all the bedrooms as well as the living room. The house has a small deck, and the yard has a swing set and basketball hoop. The yard is very private and provided a nice quiet respite after our busy days. We took advantage of the outdoor pool and game room at the Club, which was only a short drive away.
The owner was helpful, courteous, and incredibly accommodating! He was available to answer questions we had by phone and e-mail and was very personable. When speaking with him, it is obvious he cares about his properties and the comfort of the guests who choose to stay in them.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property.

This is an extremely well maintained log home in the heart of the White Mountains. It is very convienent to local attractions, shops, etc.
We had 10 in our party, and found it to be very comfortable, and well supplied with all the amenities you could ask for.
Several TVs, and free internet access, which was a nice touch with the teens in our group, who of course brought along their laptops.
The sleeping accomodations were more than enough for the entire group, and the wood stove was sure a nice touch after a day out in the cold, and snow, of the White Mountains.
We could only stay for 2 days on this trip, but are definitely looking forward to staying there again.
Also, the ownership was very quick to respond to all inquiries.
On another note, if you're looking for a good place to have breakfast locally, try the "Peach", great home cooking, nice atmosphere.

This was an early Christmas present for our four granddaughters (ages 2, 5, 7 & 9). The cabin is comfortable and inviting from the time you pull into the driveway. There was plenty of room for the girls, their parents, their two aunts and us (the grandparents). The cabin is well laid out, very nicely furnished and meticulously maintained.
The owner's notes and instructions covered everything. He clearly loves this place and wants his guests to love it too.
Besides our train ride to the North Pole, we enjoyed the indoor swimming at Attitash, a very short drive from the cabin.
We had a wonderful weekend that the girls agreed was "Awesome!"

The property was clean and provided ample space for everyone to be together, as well as to have quiet space. The location is perfect for sight-seeing destinations, and offers a variety of outdoor and indoor activities if opting to hunker down at the house. Dave was prompt with communication and provided a great welcoming package with the key. We hope to return in the future. Highly recommend rental.

My husband and I rented this cabin (8-2010) for our family of six (6 year-old twin boys, and two daughters ages 3 and 1) along with their Grandparents. The cabin fit us all very nicely and we felt right at home. The kitchen is fully equipped with nice appliances, plenty of dishes, cups etc., and we all fit around the kitchen table for our meals.
The cabin is in a quiet area and perfect for children to ride bikes, roller blade or skateboard. There is also a swing set in the yard which was a pleasant surprise. :-)
The cabin is located near many main attractions including amusement parks, museums, hiking trails, swimming, skiing and great shopping.
The owners are very easy to work with and quickly responded to all questions/inquiries.

Stayed with my family of five in this beautiful maintained log cabin. Close to Storyland and Mt. Washington. The kids enjoyed having their own room as opposed to a hotel room. Would love to rent again next year.
A little added bonus there is a tv in the master bathroom which my kids thought was "awesome". Wireless internet was also an unexpected treat!

The house itself is goreous inside and out (very clean, updated, great set-up) - perfect for larger groups, plenty of room outside for kids to play, as well as an open kitchen/common area for everyone to eat together. The 4 large bedrooms provided the needed quiet places when putting kids to bed - but allowed parents to have some adult time as well. The close proximity to Storyland, downtown N. Conway and lake activities was a bonus - all within a few minutes drive. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a nice get-away with family or friends in the White Mtns. and we are hoping to go again next year!

The pool/fitness club area is about 4 miles from the home and located at Attitash Mt. Storyland is about a 10-15 drive and N.Conway is less than a 10 minute drive. Echo Lake is a beautiful small lake about a a 5 minute drive and surrounded by gorgeous mountains.

The place was perfect to share with a couple families as we did to celebrate the new year. There was tons of space to spread out especially if you have a number of children and adults. The kids took over the heated basement with the game table and TV's and we hardly heard a peep as the adults relaxed by the fireplace on the main floor. We were impressed with the cleanliness, the up-keep and the amenities provided and felt quite at home. It was very convenient to town and to all outside activities. We will definitely be looking forward to staying here again.

Spent the week here with my husband and threee children, ages 7,6, and 2. The house was beautiful...and quite large! The location was perfect - near the cute little town of North Conway for dining and shopping, plus close to all of the family attractions we wanted to visit. And natural beauty surrounded us everywhere we looked!
Our hosts were thoughtful and provided everything we needed for our stay. Friendly communication and easy exchange of information, payment, and keys. We couldn't have been happier! We highly recommend this rental.

The house is great - had everything that you could need/want and more! The place is very clean and well-maintained. The owner was very helpful in providing all the amenities and information you needed to enjoy the house. We stayed at the house with another family (total of 8 people) and there was plenty of room for everybody to spread out. The living room was more than big enough to fit all of us comfortably and we enjoyed a lot of time relaxing and staying warm by the woodstove. Great location for winter and warmer weather as well - plenty to do and places to eat. Just a short drive to Attitash and other ski mountains.

This place actually has 4 bedrooms so it was a pleasant surprise. The 4th bedroom is in the finished basement.
The place was very clean. Very quiet location. Our kids loved the playground set that was on the property and the open yard.
I would definitely recommend this place to my friends.
The owner responded to e-mails quickly.

The house is exactly as advertised and was within walking diatnce to Diana's Baths and a 5 minute drive from Echo Lake State Park - both great spots to cool off on a hot day. It was also very close to North Conway which was great in the evenings if someone wnated to go shopping. The area was very quiet and it was easy to prepare meals at home. There are very clear instructions throughout the home as to what to do and not to do. We used the Attitash Club facilities 4 times during our visit - it was very nice and rarely crowded. I would definitely recommend it for large families - We had as many as 6 sleeping for a night - it would accomodate another 4 easily.
Very clean with a large yard for kids with swings and basketball net.

We greatly enjoyed this beautiful log home. The location was close (less than 5 minutes) to downtown North Conway & all of its restaurants. It took us approximately 15 minutes to get to Storyland, about 1 hour each for Clarks Trading Post & Santa's Village. The swing set and basketball hoop were a huge hit. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly. The cabin is nestled nicely into the woods.
We were 6 adults & 2 children and found the bedding accommodations adequate. The AC doesn't cool the 2 downstairs bedrooms overnight unless you leave the doors open. There are large box fans that help overnight if you like the door closed. I would pack plastic cups for children next time; since only glassware is provided.
We will definitely return again next year & would recommend to friends and family.

We rented this house in Feb 2008 for a long weekend with a family of our friends – seven people total, three of them – kids ages 3, 4 and 6 – and had fantastic time. We were unanimous that next time we a looking for a house rental in this area it would be our first destination to consider. The house combined warm rustic character of a log cabin with all modern amenities, had plenty of room for everyone and everything we could think of during our stay and children had great time playing inside or fooling in the snow. The stores, restaurants and attractions of Conway were only few miles away, while woods surrounding the house gave it genuinely isolated and remote feel. It snowed several times during our stay so that the surroundings had beautiful winter wonderland look to them, while at the same time the plowing of the driveway worked like a clock. And doing business with the owners was sheer pleasure – everything was very timely and smooth. Highly recommended!

My family and I had an absolutely wonderful time here! The house was immaculate, beautiful and had anything you could possibly need. It definitely had the comforts of home. Having two small children, the property was perfect. My children enjoyed being able to run and play in the yard. They had balls and games as well as a great swingset. Great, quiet setting but close enough to drive to many attractions and restaurants. Also, the use of the pool and the fitness center was an added plus. The ease of booking the property was smooth and carefree and my deposit was refunded promptly. The owners were great!!!! I would HIGHLY recommend this property to anyone who is looking for the perfect vacation. We had a GREAT time and plan on going again.

Our family of four stayed at this property over a 3 day weekend in January of 08. The house was laid out well, instructions were posted around the home, and I thought it was well equipped with everything we needed. It was nestled in a quiet, wooded neighborhood which is great for families with small children. The location of the home was just perfect - about 5 minutes to the center of North Conway and about 15-20 minutes to Attitash Mountain. Just keep in mind the pool is a good 15 minutes away. Communication with the owner was excellent and he answered all my questions very quickly. I would definitely recommend this property to any family who is seeking a getaway/vacation to the North Conway area.
