Great condo for family vacation at Waikiki

Our family just came back from a vacation at Oahu. We enjoyed very much the stay at Sonja's condo. Definitely love the beautiful ocean view. My toddlers loved watching the Disney DVDs and reading the books, which are provided at the condo. The beach chairs, umbrella and sand toys made our beach outing so easy.

Since the condo has so many window, we also enjoy the fresh beach air! This is something you never get from a hotel stay.

My daughters also enjoy the slides and play house on the roof of the 6th floor.

Overall, it is a great place for family vacation at Waikiki... definitely will stay at Sonja's place if we visit Oahu again. =)

Recommended for: families with young children, sight seeing, romantic getaway

Thank you for opening your condo up for our family! We had an amazing time here on Oahu. We spent our vacation paddle boarding in Kailhua Bay, snorkeling in Hanauma Bay, sunbathing on Waikiki Beach, enjoying a sunset dinner cruise and shopping on the main strip. We LOVED having the freedom of cooking our own meals & watching the sunset from your patio. :-) This is a beautiful home and we greatly appreciate all the amenities that have been provided.

California family vacation

"Thank you" Sonja for allowing our family to stay in your condo with such a beautiful view!

We had such an amazing time & are sad that the time went so fast. We really packed a lot inot our trip, but also had time for relaxing on the lanai & also in the hot tub.

We did some really amazing things while on Oahu, but our favorite seems to be the kayak trip in Kailua. Kayaking out to the beautiful island & spending the day over there was wonderful! Our children have a lot of great memories to take home with them.

Hawaii, we love you!......for Future Guests

For Future Guests ---
We have two boys, ages 10 & 13. Some things we enjoyed were:
1. The beach at sunset. Walk to the right a bit. The gap between the breakwall will suck you out! (free!)
2. Walking down by the shops at night. Lots of free (small donation) entertainment.
3. Going to watch the Hawaii University Warriors practice ($5 parking).
4. Hanauma Bay snorkeling. Get there EARLY, as soon as it opens. Take LOTS of sunscreen.
5. Swapmeet, in Aloha Stadium. Go early!
6. Rent a car for at least one day and go to the Historic Ciry Wainanae....beautiful sunset and great crowd. Free beach.
7. Iolani Palace.....for the adults. Loved it!

We had a good time staying at your condo. We wish we could stay longer because the view made us happy and it was so beautiful. :-) We loved how everything was really close by (especially the ABC store! We don't have that in Canada!) We enjoyed our stay. The view is amazing! This was our first trip visit to Hawaii. Location is excellent. Our 2 weeks went too quickly. I enjoyed every minute of our stay in your condo. There are a lot of things to do and by the end of the day we sit on the lanaii or in the bedroom and enjoy the view.
Sadly we have to say "till we meet again."

Hi Sonja.......We had a great stay in your condo. Great views! Great pool! Would definitely stay again if we get the chance. The view of the beach was fantastic! The spas were a bit hot though. The beach was great and thanks for supplying the boogie boards and the sand toys. We had fun with them.

1st visit Oct/Nov 2010: Sonja's Pride! Yes! and it shows. Mahalo for sharing your home. It was a pleasure. You've thought of everything to make a guest comfortable and have a good time. We appreciated how well you have maintained your condo....comfortable beds, lots of great pillows, quality towels & beach towels, too, a security safe box, booklets on how to operate appliances, very few "dust collector items" (some condos have huge fake plants, etc) a fan, a quiet & efficient a/c, free internet, free long distance & local calls, DVD, etc, etc, etc. Most of all...cleanliness!! Hope we will be lucky to stay here again.
2nd visit Apr 2011: Mahalo, again for a grand time paradise. No Ka Oe!! Appreciated 6 beach towels! Also appreciated the extra bath towels. The portable fan is a nice addition to the a/c. Great Family Get-Away

We spent 15 days here and could not ask for more. The location was very close to the beach and the view was wonderful. We could see the fireworks on Friday nights from the condo. It had everything we needed and also provided extras for our little one like a cot and stroller. The place was very clean and very easy to keep clean.

Prior to our stay Sonja was very helpful and prompt in answering questions. The free car parking was great and less of a worry for us. The laundry was down the hall on the same floor. The recreation area on level 6 was helpful, the playground was handy and the pool was nice.

We would recommend this rental to our friends and family and hope to visit some time soon.

Reception on the ground level was more than happy to answer any of our questions. We also recommend the cafe downstairs; they have great coffee and a chocolate cake that is divine!! If you have kids, they are also going to love the huge fish in the pond -- if you arelucky you might get to feed them.

If you are looking for any bad points, we would suggest that if you are a light sleeper the curtains in the bedroom do not block out the night lights so this might be something to consider. Also, if you are looking for a holiday and want someone else to do your cleaning/housekeeping then this is not the place for you. However, the place is very clean and small enough so it did not require much cleaning, just a bit of tidying up you own mess really.

WOW!! What a perfect vacation. The location was perfect. It was close to a surfing beach, a lounging beach, and a boogie boarding beach. The condo was perfect. It was very clean and had all the things we needed for teenagers. There was plenty of space for the 6 of us. The extra things in the condo made the vacation much more enjoyable, too. I would go back to the same condo in a heart beat. In fact, we are planning on doing that. I would definitely recommend this unit to everyone I know. Our stay in this condo was absolutely wonderful!! The condo was very nice and clean and was stocked with much needed items. The beds were very comfortable and the views from the windows were breathtaking! You are close to all amenities, shopping and the beach! Sometimes you could hear outside noise from the street, but you're usually so tired that you don't hear them when you go to sleep. Sonja, the owner was very nice and helpful. An Amazing Get-Away

I vacationed with my teenage daughter and her girlfrined. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Banyan. The location is perfect. The girls were able to go out and shop, eat and beach by themselves. It gave us great flexibility and I didn't have to drive them to do everything they wanted to do. The unit was extremely comfortable for the three of us. The parking situation was fabulous. First of all, parking rates at a hotel are very high and free, secure parking is worth alot. On top of that, we had very easy access to parking spots wnd were always close to an elevator. It made it extremely easy to get in and out. I also felt safe when we came back late at night. The unit itself was very clean and we loved the fact that it had pleny of towels. We had everything we needed for our stay. We were well taken care of as we had a late flight out and needed to have our bags stored after we checked out. There was no problem and I truly appreciate that. Overall, we thoroughly enojoyed our stay and would definitely choose to return to Sonja's unit when we go back..................Dorothy W, San Francisco

NY Polynesians

The condo was just as pictured and promised. Great location, good value and lots of little extras that made it feel like home! We had a great stay and loved the view. It was easy contacting the owner and getting answers to all my silly questions. Have stayed in other condos in the building and this one was a winner! The free internet and parking are key! Near everything, great snack bar, good super market downstairs, fast elevators, always clean, bbqs work well, chairs at the pool plentiful. The 19th floor is just high enough to block out all the ciry sounds in the morning. Would stay here again without hesitation. Fast return of the deposit when returning as well. Great Direct Ocean View

I visit Hawaii 3 or 4 times a years, staying at the various hotels and vacation condos. I am very picky about having a dramatic, direct ocean view. This condo is an "02" in Tower 2. In my opinion, these locations offer by far the best views available at the Banyan. The 19th floor location offers direct panoramic ocean views + the ability to see the sand and surf. There is no need to be on a higher floor. The unit is clean (including the carpet), well maintained and well equipped. The owner is friendly, well organized, responsive and employs a local manager (very important) in case you have questions or problems. A++

Perfect for Familes!

Our family of 2 adults and 3 children (our daughters are 12 yrs, 5 yrs, and 2 yrs of age) spent a fantastic week in Sonja's condo in November 2009. We travel from Australia to Waikiki for a vacation every year and have always stayed in hotel suites, which are generally very expensive and don't provide any kitchen amenities. Sonja guided us through the private rental process with great courtesy and after staying here we will never go back to Waikiki hotels again!

Great views, fantastic activities onsite for families - not to mention the beach being a very short walk away.

The condo is comfortably furnished with everything you need (and more) to make for a wonderful, relaxing vacation.

So, thank you Sonja - we will defintely be back next year!

Perfect Accommodations

We called this condo home for two weeks in October 2009. I feel very fortunate to have found this one. Sonja was great to work with from the beginning and very helpful with directions, vehicles, etc. after we arrived at the airport. When we got to the condo, it was everything that it is advertised to be. Very clean, well stocked and an excellent location. Near everything. The management was very helpful when needed and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. We visited the Polynesian Cultural Center, took a catamaran out snorkeling, but the most exciting was seeing my daughter marry the "man of her dreams" after 8 years at Turtle Bay Resort.

There are many great choices nearby to enjoy a meal if you don't want to cook or use the BBQ area. Since I had a lot of mouths to feed we found that Teddys Burgers (across from the zoo around the corner from the condo) was our #1 choice for an excellent burger at a super price.

I would recommend the condo to anyone looking for a great place to call home while on vacation in Waikiki.

Very happy northerners

June - August 2009....My husband and I have just completed a six-week stay at the condo. The location is excellent and the view is breathtaking. We have already booked for the spring, and that has to be our best recommendation! The owner and management of the condo are very efficient and reliable. An example of this was when I requested a late check-out because of a midnight flight and both Sonja and Clint went the extra mile to make sure we were not stranded for hours at the airport. Thank you for the excellent customer service! The condo is well-equipped and many thoughtful extras have been added. The location allows you to have a quiet oasis in the midst of every convenience you may require. Perfect! I sought out a quieter beach near Diamond Head and enjoyed some of the best swimming of my life. I also walked the Diamond Head circle for exercise every day. Local bus transportation takes you almost everywhere, but it's fun to rent a convertible for a day to explore the island. I highly recommend the property for a relaxing beach vacation.

What a wonderful condo! Your condo is exactly as described and better!

The view is amazing and a wecoming sight when you walk through the front door. I enjoyed sitting on the lanai and watching the surfers

Our week went too quickly since we were here to settle our daughters in college at UH, Manoa. We will be back in May when our oldest daughter graduates. Hopefully your condo will be available.

Boy are we glad that I happened to stumble across your property - when we were searching for a place to stay in Hawaii - on the internet.

You have been helpful and great to deal with from the word "go". Your apartment is everything you promised, and the location is great.

I could write pages here but given that it's now 12:30 and that we have to be up in 5 hours for our early departure, I'll limit my writing.

Thanks so much for renting us this wonderfuld home-away-from-home. It's been so comfortable and warm here that I don't want to leave.

There is so much to see and do on beautiful Oahu.

We've had a fabulous vacation and I will really miss being at the Waikiki Banyan and being in Hawaii.

We hope to return soon!! (Now back to Syndey winter!)

Perfect condo to stay while vacationing in Hawaii. Condo has everything you need when taking young kids on vacation, e.g. kitchen, cooler, boogie boards, etc. The view of the ocean as you walk in the front door is inspiring and relaxing. Sonja & her team provided excellent service & were responsive to our needs. I would definitely recommend to family & friends in the future and hope that the condo is available for us the next time we visit Waikiki.
TIPS: For first-timers coming to Hawaii, you can get cheaper luau prices or sunset cruises with the tourist sites (along Kalakaua street) sometimes they advertise luaus (Paradise Cove or Germaine's) as 2 for $40, which is cheaper than the $40-$75 that is advertised in the tourist maps/magazines. If you are going to the Polynesian Cultural Center and staying for the night show which lets out at 9p, make sure that you arrange for transportation to take you back to the condo. Otherwise you'll be driving a 1-hr road trip back in the dark along winding roads.....The Kwans

Relaxing on Oahu

March 19, 2009...........Condo is everything it is advertised to be. Would highly recommend to anyone. We do not have little kids, but if we did I'd have been very happy to see the sand toys and stroller. The boogie boards are a real plus too! The picture from the condo looking out is exactly what you see, only closer. The location is great for everything, eating, shopping and anything else you want to do. We are going to miss it here. What a fantastic view --- so nice to sit on the lanai in warmth (from Seattle) and look out at the ocean and many surfers. This part of our trip was mainly for laying on the beach and that we did! Thanks for the home away from home. Mahalo!

Comments from Gale.....My daughter, myself and my 2-month old grandson had a wonderful week at your condo. Everything was as you described. This was my 3rd visit to Waikiki so I knew what to expect. I would say that the accommodations were comparable to staying at the Hyatt, which I had stayed at previously. In fact, I think they were more comfortable because we had the convenience of a kitchen and living room. All-in-all, I would definitely recommend this condo to anyone looking for a home away from home.

Comments from Jane & Cal, "First Timers"....Mahalo Sonja. Your condo is wonderful, loved the view of the ocean each morning and the sunset at night. The pictures you show were exactly what we saw. Everything was handled above our expectations.Your condo is within walking distance to everything, even the Zoo. The bus service is great. $1.00 for Seniors includes a 4 hour transfer; we used it a lot to go to the Ala Moana Mall. Love the free shuttle to Hilo Hattie's, a must-see for your chocolate covered Macadamia nuts, local products and clothing. The International Market is a must-see also, just down the road from the condo.Loved the amenities! Very clean and friendly staff. I would definitely recommend this to my friends.

Free Parking!This was our first visit to Hawaii, but we always rent vacation homes.I would rate Sonja's condo as excellent in all respects --- location, price, amenities, service, cleanliness and view. The unit is exactly as described and the photographs are totally accurate. I appreciated the photo of the view from the kitchen - the ocean view from the lanai is partially obstructed by the Marriott, but Sonja did not make any attempt to mask that! The view from the bedroom window is completely unobstructed.The free parking, free internet access and boogie boards, DVDs, etc are a bonus! Not to mention the wealth of information and a very helpful folder with her personal suggestions/advice.We'll definitely recommend this to our friends and will most certainly check it's availability for our next visit.For first timers looking for suggestions - Do not miss Hanauma Bay - after visiting several other snorkeling locations boht on Oahu and Maui, I would rate Hanauma Bay as my top pick for both the quality and variety of fishes. Not to mention the most of the action is in waist deep water! Besides that, the coastal drive on the northern side of the isalnd is spectacular, as is the Pali highway.

Comments from "Left my heart in Hawaii!"......Great condo w/free parking near everything! The condo was a great place to stay. My family enjoyed the amenities and extras (boogie boards, tourist resource books, etc) provided by the owner. Moreover, the free parking helped out tremendously. We enjoyed hiking Diamond Head, Manoa Falls and Makauupu, and visiting the Polynesian Cultural Center, North Shore and Dole Plantation. Also, enjoyed eating at Tai Pan Dim Sum (Chinatown), Nico's Pier 38, and Uncle's Seafood (next door to Nico's) restaurants. We highly recommend this condo!!

It was exactly as advertised, with a nice view, the public beach being around a five minute walk away, and the Catholic Church right next door. The wife was especially pleased with the amenities and the excellent shape of the unit. We were greeted promptly on our arrival. We we called, the owner responded promptly to answer the few questions we had. We were surprised there were boogie boards available, and made use of them. We have mentioned to our friends and family how we found the condo, and would definitely recommend ti to them.

Comments from Richard, a Frequent Waikiki Visitor......For those returning or are a first time visitor to Waikiki, I highly recommend Sonja's condo. Her condo is close to the beach. Beautiful view from lanaii and bedroom. FREE parking! Great benefit as most properties charge $20+ per day. She has Boogie Boards and Beach Chairs, too. Full kitchen is nice, even if you don't want to cook, the coffee maker and refrigerator great to have. I took my laptop and the internet connection was in the room and it worked very good. Bus is across the street, car rentals (inexpensive) nearby. Hanama Bay is only a 20 min. drive or take Bus 22. Unless you have free points to use at the Marriott across the street ($250 a nite), save your money and stay here. You won't be disappointed!

Withe the Bq's on the pool deck we were able to make meals while the kids continued to play in the pool, or at the fun center. Our suite had all the amenities a family could need, including body boards for the beach. The views are breathtaking. Thank you for the accommodation.
