Awesome house!

We were a group of 10 and we rented the main apartment plus the attic studio from Michelle's house. Everything was great, clean and roomy. The place is so big we could have done without the studio. Funnily we only spent our first and last evenings in the living room for we enjoyed the kitchen a lot (even though the table was a bit small for 10 people) with the backyard. Even if it was only late february, we enjoyed quite a few sunny mornings on the deck.
Michelle made everything easy for us and was super quick in responding to a boiler breakdown.
The walk to the Utica Avenue subway station was nice, short and easy (we tried Kingston Throop once, not twice :(
The ride to south Manhattan was about 20 minutes.
We absolutely would recommend this place especially for a group of travelers on a budget like us. Don't listen to people who tell you scary things about the neighborhood and that you should stay in Manhattan or at least closer to it. We never once felt unsafe, even walking home late at night or taking the subway.
New York is not all about Manhattan and Brooklyn is definitely worth a visit.

A very pleasant stay!

I stayed at this home for 7 days with 11 of my family members. We rented the main three flats plus the individual apartment on the top floor. We had more than plenty beds for everyone. The home was cozy and full of character. It also has all the amenities we needed and could expect. The neighborhood really has the timeless NY atmosphere and was surprised at how energetic and friendly the neighborhood shops, bodegas and restaurants nearby are. Highly recommend it for any large groups. Thank you Michelle for making this resource available to NY visitors. Best regards, Jose

LOCATION A RECOMMANDER

Review submitted: May 9, 2012   Date of arrival: April 15, 2012

We found a great place, well communicated in a very peaceful & coloured Brooklyn.

Michelle was great solving any problem we could have and the backyard, rooms and facilities were great.

We would come again, if needed.

Thanks!

Teo

If we could visit New York City again, we would like to stay at Michells Place once more!
Everything worked out, just fabulous and fantastic! Thank`s a lot Michelle !

A Good Place To Stay

We are a family of five (aged from our 20’s to 70’s) from the UK who stayed in this Brooklyn apartment for 2 weeks. We felt quite safe walking around the neighbourhood. The apartment is well located for exploring New York being a 5-10 minute walk from the express metro line that takes you directly (or through links) to the vast majority of tourist places in Manhattan, normally in under 30 minutes. We found the 7 day MTA pass at $29 both convenient and economical. The same applies to the 7 day New York Pass bought in advance via the internet at a discount.
There is a well-stocked supermarket (Fine Fare) nearby which has long opening hours. We ate out at two local restaurants. One called Peaches had friendly staff, good food and a nice atmosphere. We felt rushed in the other one called Saraghina. We also ordered in a Chinese takeaway from China King (on Marcus Blvd) who provided generous portions of hot tasty food at excellent value.
The apartment itself was comfortable and clean and the rooms were spacious. The headroom in the basement bedroom made it unsuitable for anybody tall (over 5ft 9ins). The kitchen had everything that was needed. The garden area provided a pleasant place to relax during warm evenings. The ready access available to the internet and a telephone made it easy to research and organise our trips out. We also met occasionally with Leecia the property manager who was very pleasant and helpful answering our questions and sorting out the odd problem.
Overall we all felt we could widely recommend this apartment, although those planning to regularly use the Metro should be aware that there are a lot more stairs and fewer escalators on the NY system than in most UK Underground stations.

SUPER !!!

Character, Clean and Accesible.

Stayed here with 4 others during my birthday weekend and really enjoyed our stay. We had three floors to ourselves which made it feel like home. The owner Michelle is really nice though you may not see her, you know she is there some where and available to answer any questions you ask. Would I stay again? Definitely. At first, I thought we would have a party of 12 and Michelle even offered her other unit (which is where she resides) which would have given us 4 floors. We used every inch of our space. My boyfriend enjoyed having his own area in the basement. The train station was a few blocks away - after a long day walking around in Manhattan you can get a little tired walking about to the apartment. Michelle even let us keep our bags in the hallway why we waited for our ride to pick us up to go to the airport.

Wonderful NYC-house

Review submitted: October 17, 2010   Date of arrival: September 25, 2010

My group of 12 persons from Norway had some wonderful 3 days stay in this house. 20 minutes by subway to Manhattan, plenty of space and a good outdoor area made this house a good place to stay. The neighbourhood was nice and quiet, and we had the chance to visit the great Italian restaurant Saraghina. Everyone who visit this area should eat here! We thank Michelle Majors for giving good information about the area and the house, and for helping us out with transportation our departure day. We would love to stay here again for another NYC-stay!

This is a spacious well kept apartment, loads of room to spread out. Utica Ave, subway about 5 minutes walk, Manhatten about 15 minutes away on the subway taking the express line. Went to two excellent restaurants on the door step, Peaches was good wholesome soul food, loved the grits with mushroom, Saranghina was a lovely Italian. Good wine store about a block away. The apartment is in a nice residential neighbourhood.

Great experience

We had an excellent time in NY! The brownstone was conveniently located in a friendly neighborhood. Subway access was nearby allowing for easy access to Manhattan. Our teens appreciated having room to relax late at night watching movies and preparing snacks in the kitchen. The beds were amazingly comfortable after long days of sight seeing and bathroom accomodations were very nice. We had plenty of space for the 6 of us! The property manager was very helpful with details of how best to navigate the city as well as making recommendations of where to go for groceries, restaurants and the best place to find a great cup of coffee each morning. This was the first time our family has rented a vacation home and it was a wonderful experience. We definately would do it again!

We rented this property to attend our daughter's graduation and were pleasantly surprised by the amount of space in this Brownstone. It's in a nice neighborhood and everything is within walking distance. Michelle (the owner) was very accomodating and has done a wonderful job of decorating the property. Our other 2 daughters who traveled with us wanted to make sure that next time we travel to NY we stay at the same property. The house is fully furnished and the kitchen and the bathrooms were well stocked

The place was amazing! Exactly what we needed. It is even better than the decription and photos! It is truly a gem! It is spacious, clean and Michelle did everything to accomodate us. She went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable.

The neighborhood is great, close to the subway and there is a wonderful community.

It was certainly a home away from home!
