Charming

Review submitted: September 7, 2012   Date of arrival: August 29, 2012

We, 4 adults and 4 children aged 4 to 11, had a great time at Otter Rock Point. The pictures don't convey well enough the serenity of the place and the spacious feel of the house. Inside it was well cleaned, beds were comfortable and towels were fluffy. The manager was also very responsive and available to resolve any problems. We spent time fishing, rowing to the island in the middle of the lake, going to the public beach/park on the other side of Kezar Lake (there were also swings and slides for the kids, as well as picnic tables), climbing Mt. Kearsearge, eating marshmellows by the BBQ (BTW, it uses coal), playing cards and some of the board games found in the house.
There is some information/details that may be helpful to future renters:
- There was no fire pit. We found traces of one under a table outside.
- There were only 6 chairs for seating at the dining table. The 3 bar stools helped accommodate our party by seating kids at the bar, but it would have been nice to sit together.
- One of the bedrooms was transitional: it had 2 doors (one toward a corridor and one towards a small shared hall between the 2 bedrooms). Also, the doors of these 2 bedrooms, the kitchen and the living room, were sliding - a bit noisier than standard doors, in case you have light sleepers.
- There are a washer and dryer in the basement, but not hooked up to water.
- The play room in the basement had an older dehumidifier running at all times and one could smell some humidity in the room.
- One bedroom had an AC.
- The neighbors had a rooster that crowed, as expected: every 1-2 hours from 2-3 am to 9 am. This was not too bad unless the windows were open. Also, they had a mellow dog that came on the property to look for attention and food.
- The kitchen was equipped with everything you'd need to prep food: cookware, serving dishes, plates, utensils, and tableware were excellent.
- There was a bug spray in the bathroom (in case you forget your own).

Even better than expected.

We had the most wonderful time. The house is very private and much more spacious than we thought it would be. We walked and walked, and hiked and swam and made s'mores by the campfire. The area around the lake is beautiful and quiet and offers everything you are looking for in a country getaway. The nearby town (for shopping and dining) is lovely and offers tons of New England charm. It is also not far from Hanover which allowed for a nice tour of Dartmouth College. We hope to go back next year.

Otter Rock Point is Great

Review submitted: June 18, 2012   Date of arrival: June 7, 2012

Otter Rock Point was a very nice place to stay. It is quite and well kept, on a picturesque lake that makes for a beautiful place to spend a relaxing weekend. Sleeps 8 comfortably, and has a great porch overlooking the lake. Highly recommended!

Great Family retreat

Review submitted: March 2, 2012   Date of arrival: January 6, 2012

We rented to go skiing at Mt Sunapee. The location was great, only 25 min to the mountain and 10-15 min to the stores and restaurants in New London. Because there wasn't much snow having the lake right there was a huge benefit as we could take the kids skating. We would recommend this rental.

Owners response: Winter rental was a new effort this year and it seems to have gone well. Any time of year this is a wonderful tranquil spot with lots of "county" things to do.
