Great place to stay

I was looking to rent this condo again, this summer, and I realized I never left a review the last time we stayed here.
I rented this condo so we could stay close to the beach. It was directly across the street and very easy to walk over. We were right along the main road with restuarants, souvenir shops and grocery stores. It would have been easy to walk to things even if we didn't have a car.
The staff was great. We checked in after 10 pm with no issues and they made sure I had the code for the WiFi.
The unit was clean and cool when we arrived. There was plenty of paper towels, tissues, toilet paper, etc. The refrigerator was also clean and ready for our snacks. We bought a bottle of wine and I bought a corkscrew thinking the condo would not have one...WRONG! A corkscrew was provided so you have everything you can think of as far as cooking and eating utensils.
We had a teenager (17) and a young child (7) with us and they both loved the condo. We even sat out on the balcony one evening and the kids had fun dancing and playing around. We didn't have to worry about any unsavory or rowdy people while we were relaxing.
The owners were very, very speedy in getting back to me when I wanted to rent the condo. Everything was arranged quickly and efficiently. We also got our deposit back faster than I expected.
As I said in the first sentence, we will be trying to stay here again this coming summer.

Owners response: Thank you and we appreciate your business!

Sea Bliss Condo Galveston,Tx

Our overall experience was "fair". We rented the condo for a family vacation during spring break. The condo is nothing fancy and very outdated. We had to bring our own pillows, there was no iron, and very few towels and rags. For a family of 5 we can go through towels and rags very quick! They do have a washer and dryer for guests but be prepared to bring plenty of change to pay for them and your own laundry detergent. The people that work in the lobby were extremely rude and no help because we rented from an "individual" and not the company of the property. It was like pulling teeth to get them to give us change so we could use the washer and dryer. I would have much rather stayed at a hotel than at this place. The owners we rented from we're very nice and accommodating as we planned our trip, but the staff at the property is what ruined it for me.. I would suggest they buy a condo at another location to rent out.

Owners response: Well, usually the Casa del Mar staff is very, very good to our guests so I can not figure what happened here.

As far as updating, we have a brand new flat screen TV in the living area, appliances 2 years old, new and upgraded matresses in bedroom and on futon.

We leave 6 thick, less than 1 year old towels, 6 washcloths, 4 kitchen towels and 2 extra rolls of paper towels, 4 extra rolls of toilet paper and 2 bars of soap and dish washing soap, cleaner and windex.

I do suggest that 5 people is really too many for our condo. The condo is designed to accomodate 2 adults and 2 children.

Again, thank you for your review and we do try very hard to make your stay as pleasant and fun as possible!

Sincerely, Judi

Great Condo! Bad Weather.

The condo was perfect for us! Great view. Nice and clean. It is perfect for a couple. The only negative comment would be we couldn't find the pillow cases, but that wasn't a big deal. We came to Galveston on our motorcycle so as you may know by now we left the pillows...would had been difficult to travel 300 miles holding pillows :-). Even though the weather was miserable during our stay, your condo made us quite comfortable. Thanks so much! We would definitely recommend it!

Wonderful Week!

We had such a wonderful time. The condo was the PERFECT home base. It is centrally located and in walking distance to everything you need. You dont even have to have a car to have a great vacation from this location. The beach is right across street and we watched the pelicans feeding and the shrimp trawlers fishing from the balcony. It was perfect for a couple.

Owners response: Thank you Kim...We try!

Great customer service

The owner did a great job getting back to us quickly. The unit was clean, and the extra amenities like dishwashing liquid, toilet paper, and coffee filters were very appreciated. We had some initial difficulties due to the small utility trailer we were towing for our business travel. Despite being smaller than a compact car, we were initially informed that we would not be able to stay at Casa del Mar. The staff was polite throughout the situation, and eventually allowed us to park the trailer on the opposite side of the complex. While very inconvenient, at least they circumvented the regular policy.

The room itself was a bit smaller than I anticipated, and with 4 children we were quite cramped. When the weather was nice, we were outside anyway. The heated pool was terrific when the ocean was too cool for swimming. Some of the furnishings are a bit worn and could use updating, but the bed was comfortable. While things were very clean, there was some peeling paint, and edges that had mildew. They are probably the things you'd overlook in your own home, however.

The only thing I found strange was the window from the master bedroom that overlooked the hallway. It was barred for safety, but having a curtain to a public area in the bedroom was uncomfortable for me.

The kitchen was quite small, and it was challenging to cook for 6 on the apartment sized stove. Thankfully, there was a larger stock pot that helped out. I would have liked a better can opener, and a colander. With so many restaurants close by, we could have skipped cooking entirely.

Overall, Galveston was great fun, and this was a very economical choice for us. Gaidos Restaurant (and the pecan pie) is not to be missed! For the money, this was a great value. Terrific staff and owner.

Owners response: Thank you for your review and we try very hard to help you to have a wonderful vacation.

We have a memory foam mattress with a pillow top that was purchased 1 year ago in the bedroom.

The bedroom, according to fire regulations, must have a window and to provide extra security all windows at Casa del Mar have bars. The curtains covering the window are completely private and light proof.

The condo has a fridge, stove and counter surfaces that were also installed 1 year ago.

The condo does not have mildew inside the condo however there was perhaps some dust in the corners of the ceilings that may be what is mentioned. The ceilings are dusted when necessary.

The exterior of the Casa del Mar complex was remodeled 4 years and is showing some signs of mildew in some areas. The Homeowners Association is working with the contractors to resolve the issue. Hopefully a solution will be in the works soon.

As far as space for 4 children, I had told Chelle that the condo would be small for 4 children however she was eager to reserve it despite my comments and reassured me that it would be fine.

As far as her trailer, the Casa del Mar Rental Association has changed their policy recently to exclude trailers. They did allow her to park the trailer at the complex in a back area.

Again, we do our best to provide a condo with an awesome oceanfront view that is very centrally located and is clean, well equipped and is a good value.

We look forward to assisting you with your vacation plans.
Sincerely, Judi and Erich

I want you to know we had a great time at your condo!! I especially want to thank you for your generosity toward McKenzie that day on the fishing pier. The arrangements were ideal. We walked to every place that we wanted to eat in the evenings and prepared the other two meals each day in your kitchen. The porch was great and we were fortunate to have the sea breeze blowing and keeping us cool day and night. The location is excellent with a great view, easy access to the beach and 61st pier and an abundance of eating establishments within walking distance. We are looking forward to doing this again in the future.

Owners response: Thank you! We try very hard to make your vacation wonderful!
