An Uptown Gem in New Orleans with Personality!

Our group travels to New Orleans about once every two years and we always rent a home. New Orleans is the perfect place to find a home to rent, because they all have so much history to them that it makes it part of the experience. Well, I am happy to say that Airyn Monet Guest House was an absolute gem of an experience. The house was built over 100 years ago, but all of the modern amenities that you would want are inside. You can play music throughout the home, enjoy the hotub tub or pool table, play Wii, watch cable, anything you want! Yes, there are some very old aspects like the upstairs bath and shower, but they are part of the home and its history. In fact, we enjoyed using them- when will you ever get to again?!
The location is ideal as well. About 7 minutes in cab in The French Quarter, walking distance to Le Bon Temps and Tips for music, and 20 minutes on the St. Charles street car to downtown.
The owner and host are also huge positives for this property. While there is a host that lives on-site on the third floor, Randy is cordial, polite and allows you to do your own thing. We hardly ever saw him, and when we did he seemed like he was a part of our group!
Every room and hallway of the home was been decorated with great detail. Each room has its own personality, but each one is fantastic in its own right. We loved the decorations around the home, especially "the chair" and the medieval guard at the front door (you have to go to see them!). If you are looking for a rental in New Orleans for a good group experience, look no further. You found the perfect home!

The description is outdated. Upstairs bedspreads had major lumps in quilts...Please update it's rather gross.
The kitchen sink disposal, water ran profusely when I used it. Dishwasher did not clean dishes;I had to handwash to ensure cleanliness. Pots and pans were not clean on arrival. The bath upstairs, the shower head is short, I am 5'4"...downstairs bath the tub rocks...not safe!
Overall, Airyn Monet is nice property...BUT it's like you don't care about getting repeat customers by not maintaining the property.
Sincerely,
Frances Mordaunt

10 people -- three adults and seven 17/18 year olds traveled to New Orleans to help with restoration efforts at Trinity Lutheran Church on N. Claiborne. We had a wonderful four days at the Airyn Monet and it was the PERFECT setting for our group. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out and have some space, yet many areas to cozy up and talk.
The teens enjoyed the hot tub, playing pool, and sitting out on the upstairs patio into the early morning hours talking. The neighborhood was very peaceful and inviting and the house very secure.
Working with Randy and Patricia was a treat! They worked hard to accommodate our group and made us feel very welcome. We appreciated having so many comforts of home -- washer/dryer, well-stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, spacious bathrooms, AC, and parking.
We prepared many of our meals in the kitchen with ease and ate out on the patio under the stars. It was a wonderful trip and a great place to call home for the better part of our week. We will certainly return and highly recommend.
Thanks Randy and Patricia -- blessings to you both!

This house was perfect for our stay while in New Orleans for our daughters wedding. There was plenty of room for all and even large enough to entertain a number of people. We enjoyed our stay, the neighborhood was quite and serene. Not a lot of traffic and noise surrounding the neighborhood. Our host was very helpful and was available for questions and any concerns we had.
The house was perfect for entertaining our out of town wedding guest. All were in awe of the decor and everybody wanted to take a picture in the BIG chair. We had a lot of little things to do before the wedding and the house was perfect for the last minute wedding/reception details we had to pull together.
We had a lot of company to dropping in regularly from the New Orleans area as well as some out of town visitors.
The house does need some maintenance, a paint job inside and out. Deck curtains around hot tub need cleaning or new ones. Kitchen could use a new stove and new pots and pans for cooking. Pots and pans were teflon stratched and in my opinion not safe for food use.
The owner was doing gutters while we were there so it was obvious he is working hard at trying to keep things going. With a house that size there is a lot to do to maintain and I'm sure he is aware of what he still needs to do.
The house was clean for the most part...cleaners need to concentrate on the corners of the rooms...a little dusty in places.
Overall, we had a great stay the week we were there, and will stay there again when in the area as well as recommend to others interested.

I booked this house for myself and seven friends and was very pleased with our experience.
The mansion is huge and filled with the kind of gorgeous details you never see in newer homes. At least three bedrooms have access to balconies. There were televisions/DVD players in every bedroom, I believe and a television in the living room as well. The hottub was probably the cleanest one I've ever seen - very nice and big enough to fit all eight of us. The kitchen is filled with dishes and there are two grills in the backyard, so we had a BBQ one night.
The location is absolutely perfect, in my opinion. The neighborhood was scenic and felt very safe. It's a short walk (about 4 blocks, I think) to the trolley, which comes by frequently and runs until early morning. We never had to drive into the French Quarter. Magazine Street and the Garden district are also both easily walkable, especially on a nice day. There are plenty of restaurants and shops within even closer walking distance.
One note of caution/clarification: there are three beautiful, private bedrooms upstairs (one has a single queen, I believe, and the others have two double beds each). However, the fourth and fifth bedrooms - while furnished with two double beds and a queen bed, respectively - are separated only by a curtain. The fifth bedroom has no private entrance/exit. The sixth bedroom is downstairs, very small and furnished with a bunkbed. Depending on the make-up of your group this might matter. For us, it ended up working just fine, but if we had more couples, it might have been an issue.
I can't say enough good about our experience at Airyn Monet. Our host was very helpful and friendly and I just received my refundable security deposit in the mail, only two weeks after returning from New Orleans. This was a vacation we'll never forget - I highly recommend this property!
