Papa Bear Regulars

Review submitted: November 5, 2013   Date of arrival: October 31, 2013

This is our second year at Papa Bear and it just keeps getting better. We had twelve family members with us this time from Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. Everyone had their own room and bathroom, an added bonus. The cabin is setup for all age groups from the pool table to the cozy fireplace or front porch swing. We have all decided that this will be our place whenever we visit the area. Papa Bear is always clean, supplied, and welcoming to us all. Not to mention the location is very convenient being close to everything. Miss Linda has always been a pleasure to work with. So if you're looking for total relaxation in a beautiful cabin or either a short drive for a night on the town...then Papa Bear is the place to be! Trust me, you will not be disappointed! Thanks again Miss Linda, see you next year.

Fall Vacation

Review submitted: November 3, 2013   Date of arrival: October 24, 2013

Thank you so much, Linda, for sharing your cabin with us. You made renting your cabin so easy, and it is reasonably priced. We had 13 people in our party, and there was ample room for all of us. The cabin was so clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. We really enjoyed our stay there. The scenery was awesome. Wish it hadn't been so cold because we didn't get to enjoy the porches and decks as much as we wanted to. We also enjoyed our walk down to the gazebo and lake. It is so easily accessible to all we wanted to do. Some of us even rode the hot air balloon ride. Definitely recommend that as something to do. We didn't want to leave. I'm sure we will be back!!!

Best vacation rental in Pigeon Forge

Review submitted: October 26, 2013   Date of arrival: October 19, 2013

We stayed at Papa Bear Lodge to celebrate my parents 58th Anniversary. Our group consisted of my parents, who are both physically limited, myself, 3 siblings and a cousin. We ranged in age from 76 - 46. Upon arrival to the cabin I found the directions extremely easy to follow and locate the cabin, unlike many I have stayed at before. The cabin was VERY well stocked with cooking/eating utensils. The baths all contained linens to do more than just one night. We only did laundry a couple of times during our stay. We were scheduled for departure on Tues - Oct 22, but when we went to breakfast all decided it would be nice to stay one more night while our whole family was together, which is a rarity. I called Linda from the restaurant that morning and asked about availability and she graciously worked it out for us to be able to stay for one more night. Thank you, Linda!! You will not find a nicer cabin in a better location and on top of that have a direct contact for the owner who is attentive to your needs! We are trying to work out a date for next year before the cabin gets booked.

Review submitted: September 4, 2013   Date of arrival: July 27, 2013

Our family members consisted of ages 4 months to 57 years old. We had a blast! Papa Bear Lodge was in a perfect location - easy to get to the main strip. Papa Bear was clean and spacious. It was nice to have a bathroom for each bedroom. We would definitely like to stay in Papa Bear when we visit the area next time - every year we get together somewhere and have visited the Pigeon Forge-Gatlinburg area 3 times. Love the scenery and attractions offered. Thanks for sharing your cabin with us.

Great Family Reunion

Review submitted: July 31, 2013   Date of arrival: July 20, 2013

We had 18 people during our stay ranging in age from 6 mo to 62 and we came from 4 states. We had a great time. The Cabin was clean and tidy. We had plenty of space (except when everyone wanted to help in the kitchen). We enjoyed the back deck both with our morning coffee and at dinner time and into the evening just chatting about the day and catching up. There were extra linens for the kids to use on the couches/hide-a-beds and with the washer and dryer we didn't run out of clean towels. The pool table was used almost daily and enjoyed by several. We only had a couple of questions while there and when i emailed Linda, she was quick to get back with us. We did some hikes (Grotto Falls is Very nice), Shopping in Gatlinburg, White Water Rafting, Ober Gatlinburg and Cades Cove. Hillside winery has some pretty good wines! Papa Bear is in a pretty good location making it fairly easy to get to everything. I would recommend Papa Bear to a group of people wanting a nice get away that is still close to all the FUN! Thanks Linda

Owners response: Thanks to our guests from Katy, Texas for your kind words! We try hard to make our cabin a "destination" - a place you want to come back to year after year. We try to attend to your every need as quickly as possible. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with my potential future guests.

Papa Bear is Great

Review submitted: June 9, 2013   Date of arrival: June 2, 2013

We had a fantastic time at your cabin this past week. It was big enough for us all, My parents, sisters and brother-in-law, daughter, her fellow and my precious granddaughter. It was so relaxing and beautiful and I am missing it so much tonight. I never wanted to leave. It is a great cabin for a big family, to share. everyone can come together or have some time alone. I would highly recommend it to anyone that asked. Wish I could come back every year..I, thank you Linda, for sharing your cabin with us and for addressing the issues immediately that we had. I hope my e=mail to you was helpful about the leak. Would hate to see any damage to the cabin from the rain and silly women don't know how to turn on a hot tub. Please forgive me on that one! My brother-in-law came to the rescue there and the hot tub was fantastic! Thanks again for the great week. It meant more than you will ever know, being there with my husband, parents, sisters, daughter and granddaughter. Vicki

Great Cabin!

Review submitted: October 29, 2012   Date of arrival: September 30, 2012

Linda and Toney,

We truly enjoyed our stay at Papa Bear Lodge this past week! We had 3 generations, (with the exception of 3 grandchildren that couldn't make it) and traveled from FL, AL, and OH to spend time together. We had a total of 13.

The 6 BRs each with a BTHRM was perfect! The scenery was beautiful and the cool nights and mornings were awesome. The cabin area was quiet and peaceful even with neighbors. We ate at 8 different restaurants and ALL were delicious! The Mystery Dinner Theatre (we saw Frankly, Scarlett You're Dead) and The Hatfield's and McCoy's Dinner Theatre were both very entertaining and served delicious food. I would recommend them both, yet the Mystery Dinner was my favorite, since I'm a Gone With The Wind fan. We had a spa day (for all the girls/ladies) at the Colour Bar & Spa which was loooooong but nice! We visited the bakery, Cakes by Bakin Bishops and took home some yummy muffins and friendly conversation! Walked some trails and shopped in Gatlinburg. Also visited the Ripleys's Aquarium there. All very nice! And at the end of the day, the hot-tub was wonderful for warmth and relaxation in the cool night air.

The good Lord willing, we will be back!!

Unforgettable Family Vacation

Review submitted: August 14, 2012   Date of arrival: August 4, 2012

Our large family from New York & Texas met at Papa Bear Lodge for the week of 8/4 - 8/11. We had a wonderful time and were so happy we chose Papa Bear Lodge. The property owner, Linda, was SO helpful and happy to assist us with our planning and any questions we had. She provided us with very detailed information about the lodge as well as directions to the lodge so we never had to second guess ourselves. Linda made choosing Papa Bear Lodge a no-brainer!!! The cabin is very clean and well kept and everything was in working order or attended to as soon as we called maintenance. Having a bathroom in every bedroom was perfect so that everyone had their privacy. The view from anywhere in or around the cabin is absolutely beautiful, and we enjoyed a lot of our time on the back deck and in the hot tub! The cabin is located very close to the strip and not too far from the attractions in Gatlinburg. Our family vacation wouldn't have been the same in separate hotel rooms and we're so thankful for the closeness & memories created in Papa Bear Lodge. Thank you for allowing us to spend our vacation here! A great time was had by all!!!

Owners response: It sounds like your family had a great vacation/reunion at Papa Bear Lodge. I'm so glad we made your time together "unforgettable", and hope you'll plan on returning the next time you get together in Pigeon Forge.

Family of 13 from IL

Review submitted: June 18, 2012   Date of arrival: June 9, 2012

I've stayed at many places and this has so far been the most relaxing and enjoyable vacation. We celebrated my parents 50th Anniversary so we had 13 people ranging from age 10 - 70. It is also very accessible for handicap people and was easy for my brother to walk in and out. The doorways are wide enough for wheelchair accessibility and two bedrooms are located on the main floor which worked out perfect for someone that can't do stairs. There are other cabins around but the majority of the time, it's very quiet. The parking is good, it was fairly easy to find, and would definitely visit again. Several of our family members took walks around the area. They experience wild life along with finding a Chapel in the hills. I would also recommend the Bakery, Cakes by Bakin Bishops, on Wears Valley Road, close to the cabin. The cupcakes are good but the cinnamon roll is the best! Thanks Linda for making our stay the best so far!

Owners response: Thanks for your recommendation of our cabin. We appreciate great guests like you and look forward to your return visit. We have wanted to try Cakes by Bakin Bishops, but its been closed when we've been up there (we go in the off-season). Maybe we'll get up there one day when its open.

Great Cabin

My family of 14 spent 3nights/4days at The Papa Bear Cabin(May 2012), it is absolutely WONDERFUL and BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Not one complaint!!!! Its very clean and well kept!!!!!! It fit all of us comfortable!!!!! It was enough space for us all to move around freely and each room having its own bathroom is AWESOME!!!! The beds are really comfortable!! I had mother/daughter time in the hot tub on the deck with my daughters at night, and it was relaxing peacful! Also sitting on the deck grilling was amazing!!!!! My brothers and nephew couldn't stay off the pool table, hahaha. The area is quiet and beautiful!! The Kroger's at the bottom of the mountain is the best!!!! It was also close to everything!! Lastly, The owner(Ms. Linda) was amazing helping in the planning stages, she was wonderful! her personal touches makes you feel special!!! I'd recommend this cabin to anyone!!!!!! You will love every ounce of it!!! :)

Spring Break

Review submitted: April 17, 2012   Date of arrival: April 7, 2012

We had an excellent time at Papa Bear, I would recommend this cabin for family gatherings or multi families which we had staying with us. Cabin layout was perfect, enough room that we never got in each others way plus we all had our own bathrooms major plus!!! There was only one issue we had my husband and his family are big time pool players so having the pool table was nice just needs to be repaired, the bumper on one end was broken. That would be our only complaint. The cabin was beautiful, clean, well maintained and close enough to all the action yet private enough to rest & relax after our outings .The owner was awesome during the planning of our trip she made us feel at ease knowing if there was a problem we could count on her. Thank you so much!!

Great Family Christmas Gathering!

Review submitted: December 21, 2011   Date of arrival: December 15, 2011

We just got back from staying a few days in the Papa Bear Cabin, wish the family could have stayed longer. The cabin was great for every age. The layout, having a bath in ea. bedroom made it very comfortable. The pool table being in the lower level allowed the kids to play games and be loud. The grand kids loved the hot tub & jacuzzi. I appreciated the convenient location of the cabin when making a run to Kroger's going to entertainment. Papa Bear's comfortable beds at night were welcomed! We have already recommended Papa Bear Cabin to friends. Thank you for offering a great cabin! Carla

Our family of 15 just spent a weekend at Papa Bear Lodge and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute! The cabin is beautiful and very clean. Everything we needed was there. We liked that it was close to the Parkway, so it didn't take long to get to the shopping areas, Dollywood and the surrounding areas. Pigeon Forge is our favorite place to visit and we really enjoyed you sharing your home with us. Hope we can stay longer next time!

Wonderful visit

Review submitted: September 26, 2011   Date of arrival: September 22, 2011

My husband, myself, and 4 other couples stayed at this cabin this past weekend. It is a lovely place and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We did not prepare any meals but everything you would need was there. All furniture is in great condition. We appreciated having our own bedroom and each their own bathroom. We had an extra BR so no one occupied the BR on the main level so this bath could be a "community" bathroom. We had a great time. Our only complaint was the cleanliness of the carpet throughout the cabin.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing, romantic getaway

Owners response: I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to Papa Bear Lodge. We were actually at the cabin early in the week just before you arrived and we ordered new carpet. It is being installed in early November when we can go up again. We hope you'll come again soon - when we will have NEW carpet in place!

There were 13 in our 3 generation family who stayed at PBL for a week. It was better than we had anticipated. The lodge was well equipped and clean, and was easily accessible to all we wanted to do.Some of us went to Dollywood, some went rafting, and others went horseback riding. Of course shopping also made the list. If we go back to Pigeon Forge we will definitely stay there again.

Great Place for a Couples Retreat

Review submitted: February 20, 2011   Date of arrival: February 11, 2011

We had a group of six couples who stayed at Papa Bear Lodge in February 2011. The floor plan of six bedrooms and six private baths was perfect! The cabin is close to the parkway so very convenient to all the activities of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. It is in a development of cabins so it is not very secluded, which wasn't an issue for us, but may be for some renters. Owner was great to work with for the rental. Highly recommend the Italian restaurant Dolce Uva in Gatlinburg - incredible food and fantastic wine selection!

Recommended for: age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway

Owners response: Linda,

Thanks for choosing Papa Bear Lodge for your vacation. We try to do everything we can to make your visit a pleasant one, and we hope you'll recommend us to your friends and come back again soon.

My husband and I, along with our 3 sons and their families stayed at Papa Bear from 9/25/10-9/28/10. We had an absolutely wonderful time even though it rained the whole trip. The large cabin with the hot tub and pool table gave us all something fun to do while staying indoors. It was the best "family time" we've had in a long time. No one wanted to leave. We definitely plan on staying at Papa Bear next year. Thanks, Linda for being so helpful and so accomodating. You're the best!

Thank you for the blessed opportunity to stay at Papa Bear Cabin. Our family had a wonderful time together. We especially enjoyed sitting outside on the screened in deck retelling stories of the past. Many new "treasured memories" have been formed from our time here together. It is absolutely beautiful here. The beauty of our Heavenly Father's creation shines ever so brightly here. You have a lovely home with everything anyone would possibly need. As I am writing this, I am listening to the wonderful and beautiful sounds of nature at night. I will miss these beautiful evenings and listening to the sounds of nature while sitting outside on the deck.
