Women's Weekend Away

KSK (Brooklyn, New York)
Review submitted: July 11, 2012   Date of arrival: July 3, 2012

My three best friends (we are in our early 30s) and I stayed at the Yellow Door for an Austin women’s weekend away. It was just perfect! We rented a car and it was a 5 minute drive to South Congress which turned out to be our favorite area to shop and dine, and a 10 minute drive to Barton Springs which we hit up almost every day at least for an hour to cool off. The central AC, cool floors, comfortable beds, closet space, and kitchen appliances made it a fantastic home base. We had everything we need to make coffee, wash and cut fruit and could have cooked a meal easily if there weren't so many tasty places to eat out. It was also nice that we could have done laundry but we didn't quite get around to that!

Our one desire for the Yellow Door was to have a DVD player. Our one issue with Austin (not the house) is that the cab companies lied to us about how long it would take them to pick us up, and one night we missed a dinner reservation. If it was a tad cooler we would have just walked to South Congress and flagged down a cab instead. (We didn't want to drink and drive.)

Just right!

This is a perfect little duplex apartment in an up and coming neighborhood of Austin. The location is close to I-35 so getting around is easy. It is right there in the South Congress area so restaurants, shops and everything Austin is at your fingertips. The apartment itself is clean, modern and safe. The beds were extremely comfortable and every detail has been thought of. Our family slept so well in the evening - truly a great place to convene when you're not galavanting in this fantastic town! Thanks, Dani & Joel!!

Wonderful 2-bedroom condo

Review submitted: January 10, 2012   Date of arrival: December 19, 2011

We had a wonderful time here this past Christmas season while visiting our son in Austin. Dani and Joel were most accommodating and even provided a couple of folding tables / chairs for us to dine with our entire family while at the unit through New Year's Day as well.
It was nice to also have use of our own washer/dryer room that was separate from the main condo and the use of a cruiser bike, which our daughter utilized for a few days (plus a NEW bike helmet provided as well).

The only things that could be added for future stays would be a standard coffee percolator (vs. the small French Press) and perhaps a microwave.

We really loved it. Beautiful, comfortable space in a leafy neighborhood close to everything.

Also a bargain considering the size.

It was home away from home

My husband and I stayed at the Yellow Door April 1 - 3. We had brought my brother with us to Austin to celebrate his return from deployment overseas as well as his 21st birthday. Cliche as it may sound, it really was our home away from home. We all were so comfortable and slept very comfortably. Great location and perfect distance from South Congress, Beautiful interior...it was exactly what we expected to see and more! We will definitely return on our next Austin trip!

This mid century modern house is pure dreaminess!! Super super clean, white, bright, happy, sunny!! A real private retreat, with screened patio in back, fully equipped kitchen, super comfy couch and large TV. Quiet walking neighborhood. Awesome shower with large rain style head, good pressure and window in the shower to open and let in the fresh Austin air! Great closet space in the master bedroom.
For the week we were here, we got to live in our 'dream house!' Truly!! Absolutely 100% recommend this incredibly well appointed home!! Can't wait to stay here again!! Love love love it!!
