Fantastic House!!!

Review submitted: March 5, 2013   Date of arrival: February 9, 2013

ODC was absolutely perfect!!! Extremely clean, had everything we needed and GREAT location!! Just around the corner from White Face Mountain. The hot tub was exactly what we needed when we came home from being outside all day skiing! We really liked the Hungry Trout restaurant, good food, good drinks and very close to the house!
We can NOT wait to go back next year to take our 6 year old skiing again!

Owners response: Wendy, Thank you so much for your review of our home! We are so glad you loved the home and the area. Your right, the folks over at the Hungry Trout do an awesome job! One of the best parts of skiing is that its a family sport, keep the little one on the slopes and hope to see you out there one day! Thanks again!! Todd & Kimmie

Fantastic Winter Vacation!

Review submitted: January 24, 2013   Date of arrival: December 22, 2012

We stayed at Olympic Dreams Chalet Dec 22-29, 2012. I've always wanted to take a ski-vacation, but my non-skiing husband was hesitant about this. Our week at Whiteface/Lake Placid was awesome and we both agree that it was the best vacation we've taken in a long time. The house is gorgeous (exactly as pictured) and had everything we could wish for. Everything was clean, well-maintained, and well-labeled. No problems figuring out which light switch controlled which light! And no problems with cell phone coverage (Verizon) or WiFi access. The location was perfect for me and the teenage kids to ski Whiteface for a few days. My husband dropped us off at the mountain (a whopping 4 minute car ride from the house) and headed back for a day of reading and napping in front of the fireplace. During our stay, a snowstorm dropped a foot or so of snow overnight. Although we weren't planning on going out that particular day, it was a pleasant surprise to see a plow clear the driveway early in the day. Only "oops" during our stay occurred when we got locked out of the house, however the property manager was there within 10 minutes to save us from ourselves. Kids loved the plastic sleds they found in the house. We kept them in the trunk during the week and were ready whenever we stumbled upon an unexpected hill. The house is a straightforward drive from all the Lake Placid activities - some further than others, but all very easy to find. We did all the "Olympic touristy stuff" and still had so much more we wanted to do at the week's end. If you are in the area on Christmas Day, definitely do the Rocket Sled at the Bobsled Complex! We all agreed that if we ever are in the area again, regardless of the season, we would definitely want to stay at the Olympic Dreams chalet again. Thanks Todd!

We enjoyed a family reunion at the Olympic Dreams Chalet, complete with young grandchildren. The home accommodated us all well and we had a great time. The fire pit is great for s'mores and the hammock very relaxing. The yard is lovely and natural and the grandchildren enjoyed collecting pinecones in the forest. We all enjoyed the Wilmington town beach. The kitchen is great too. We recommend this home for a family gathering.

A Much Needed Retreat!!

Review submitted: December 23, 2011   Date of arrival: November 1, 2011

My wife had originally looked at several properties in the area before finding this home. It far exceeded all the others offered in the area and had amenities that many others couldn't even begin to offer. It was also in the middle of nowhere, while being in the middle of everything!

This was to be a birthday present/vacation for us both. We both work long days all year and prefer to be able to relax as good as possible when we get the chance. THIS WAS IT!!!

The place was spotless when we arrived and the fireplace was so inviting that we spent the first couple days just relaxing in front of it. The iPod dock and surround speakers made it easy to play our favorite music while relaxing :)

We used the hot tub and fire pit outside a lot. Even when it was snowing these amenities were well used!

Being able to bring the entire family made all the difference as well! We have a Bassett Hound and a yellow Lab. They were instantly at ease in the place, which is almost never the case with a new house.

If you like seeing color in the yard, we would suggest waiting for the warmer days of the year. The yard is made up of wild flowers and during the colder portion of the season these are cut down to disperse seeds fro the next year.

Even with no flowers we all enjoyed the yard and the trails in back of the house. The location is, in one word, perfect!

We are planning on making this an annual event and trying to invite more friends and family with us each year!!

We stayed at the owners other house, identical in layout to Olympic Dreams, newly built nearby. House name is Lookout Mountain Chalet, totally beautiful, the view from the windows is like looking at a postcard. We were able to have a bonfire outside, hot tub time after skiing, and there is a wildlife refuge within walking distance to the house. Great for kids and parents too.

Todd & Kim,
I have just spent 4 days in your lovely home as a guest of denise and candice. I began comming to the adirondacks as a writer in the 70's. I was at the "miracle on ice" hockey game in 1980. I have to say that this visit ranks up there with the best times. I have been a builder for 30+ years and I am impressed by the design and construction of your home. I look forward to a possible return here thank you.

Our son's favorite part was the bobsled ride. All of the little kids loved the north pole. We hope to return soon.

We had a great family vacation in your house. My son Danny who is on the autism spectrum really loved it. He went in the hammock, space shower and liked his room. My daughter also loved it and said it was her best vacation (and they have been to disney 3 times). House is close to everything. Kids loved the wildlife refuge we had guests from syracuse who also loved it. Kids walked across to the KOA for freeze pops. We hope to come back. Dear Todd & Kim,
We really enjoyed staying here the hot tub and steam shower were great. And each teenager had his own tv had a hard time getting them out of the rooms! We communed with the wildlife took pics of the male humming bird saw a deer our the kitchen window laughed at the fuzzy orange cat in the drive. We had great views the drive to whiteface, hiked to knob, bouldered at mckenzie and got lost trying to find the rock scramble on catamount will have to ask the folks at the wildlife center for help next time. They were great. Spent several hours hiking and talking there. Best day was rock climbing with the folks at the rock and river. The owner ed was very helpful and our guid bill was fantastic! Looking forward to a return trip.

Thanks to the holiday blizzard 2010 we go to brave the coldest weather most of these native charlestonians have ever encountered! Skiing, skating, tubing, sledding, cross country and shopping kept everyone buisy and entertained. The food was fabulous and the people were so friendly and kind. Dear Todd and Kim,
This may just be the most memorable amazing and life altering weekend journey of my entire life. We arrived wednesday and thursday we hit the mountain what a gondola ride what an amazing snowboard ride down. And then at the view from the top...All of a sudden my boyfriend gets down on one knee and says "Baby,I Love You" will you Marry Me? A sweetly silly had to say yes as i meet him on bended knee. Thank you for letting us use your house its nothing short of a dream. This house has the power of letting dreams take flight. I wish you both the best as you continue on your personal journey. I'm happy to say that your house and the mountain were such a significant memory of mine of ours.

We loved the gas fireplace and especially the hot tub which we all put to good use every night! Our pups were happy not to be home alone and long walks by mirror lake. Highlights for us included skiing at whiteface, snowtubing at gore, toboggan, dog sled rides on mirror lake (the toboggan is fun every year). The messgae at the Inn at mirror lake (really terrific)! Favorite resturaunts were McDougals for wings, and a good margarita, Lisa G's for everything, Milano for the kids ziti, Casa de sol fore mexican and The Wilderness for being like goin to grandmas house. We also loved the olympic theme especially since were here during the games!

This is a place you won't be disapointed in...trust me!!! it's cozy and not chinzy. It's well appointed and will lend to a great experience for any group outing no matter what the season. We had the most pleasurable time at Olympic Dreams. Nice set-up for both privacy and group activities which is important because we all need our space. The outside deck and firepit lends to the charm and ambience of the overall location. The kitchen is great for large meals and has easy access to the items you need to feed a large group. We solved the problems of the world sitting over dinner at the bar during mealtimes. The bathrooms and bedrooms are all nice and comfy and make for a good night's sleep. A favorite topic of conversation every morning concerned the steam shower or as we called it the "transporter" and each newfound trick it held. Overall it was a great place and provided my group with everything I had hoped for and more. For me this was a weekend of allowing friends who have minimal time to bond and refuel and we did that and more, Oh yea, and the surrounding area well what more needs to be said about the most beautiful part of New York State I mean that goes without saying. If your looking for comfort and good vibrations Olympic Dreams is your place....I look forward to my next visit. Last but not least Todd is great to work with he called me in less than ten minutes after I posted an inquiry and he was on the phone minutes after I arrived to make sure we were happy and that all amenities were covered. We needed a propane refill for the fireplace and it was taken care of in just a few hours. I highly reccomend this place for anyone wanting to experience the High Peaks area!!!!

My husband and I wanted a week away from it all, so we rented Todd and Kim's "Olympic Dreams". This was probably the best decision we've ever made! The house was in pristine condition with every ammenity we could need. There was plenty of stuff to do (or not to do) so we were never bored. There was also relaxing luxurious ammenities like the hottub and the steam shower! We were able to cook in the kitchen and relax by the fireplace, as well as go out to eat. This is an amazing house with really great owners, I will definitely stay here again!

INCREDIBLE place!!!!

I have stayed in this area many times before, but I must say, this house has been my absolute favorite. A large group of friends (8) and I stayed at this house in January so that we could hit the slopes. After a few days of skiing we were exhausted and decided to just relax in the house, which was about as comfortable and clean as possible! The steam shower, was incredible, and the coolest shower I have ever been in (i never thought I'd call a shower cool..) but it helped me recover and relax. The entertaining area and kitchen area is open and allows everyone to hel pin the kitchen or to be near by, so that we didnt lose time with our friends. the scenery is beautiful, I honestly cannot say enough about this house. Todd, the owner is a pleasure to work with and I most definitely will be returning!!

My sister and I took our families including 3 young people ages 21 to 23 to the Adirondacks. At first, the kids thought there was nothing for them to do, until they got into the free Kayaking at the Ausable Loj, did some fishing, and went shopping in Lake Placid. They also did the local microbrewery tour one day while we adults did sightseeing and languished in the hot tub. The house is amazing, immaculately clean, very tastefully done, and my handicapped husband had all he needed and was able to stay on the first floor. We took our 4 Labrador retrievers with us and they loved walking the road and trails in the Adirondack state parks. The locals are friendly and the house feels like a ski chalet with the hot tub, chiminea and fire place. You need to go to the Ausable Loj and learn about their animal rescue activities which are amazing. We might go back next year. Steve is a great host.

Beautiful home and great location! Todd called to make sure everything was ok the first morning of our stay. House is relaxing and easy to enjoy the peace and quiet, even saw a deer outside of the kitchen window. Teenagers really enjoyed having a TV in thier rooms.

We stayed there over Memorial Day weekend. The kitken was fully stocked with plenty of china so we didnt have to run the dishwasher after every meal. The refrigerator was spotless on the inside. The bathrooms and showers were super clean. It was probably the best place i stayed in over the last 6 years and a great price too

Olympic dream chalet...exactly what I expected

Review submitted: March 7, 2011   Date of arrival: February 26, 2011

My three teenagers and I stayed at the Olympic dream chalet for a week during our Quebec school break.

We enjoyed the perfectly located chalet near Whiteface mountain. The place is nice, clean and modern.

We skied for a couple of days and also visited the Olympic facilities in Lake Placid. We also visited the nearby Adirondaks Wildlife reserve. We enjoyed all the amenities the chalet has to offer.

As Farniente was also a key word for our holiday we spent some time in the hot tub, used the steam shower watched tons of movies (cable) and played cards. The layout of the chalet was perfect for us and I really like the kitchen and its open area.

I would like to go back again to do outdoors activities during spring of fall as well. This area is a gem.
My boys where also very happy with their vacation and they also would like to go back.

I would definitely recommend this Chalet

This was our home away from home for 5 weeks! Loved the close proximity to Whiteface, large picture windows overlooking private wooded setting, open concept living space, cozy fireplace, hot tub and the steam shower! It was nice to have 3 full bathrooms. Had a great time skiing, visiting Lake Placid and trying out all the Olympic facilities. Todd was very responsive to anything we needed. Hope to come back soon!

Amazing House for an Amazing area

Scott (Leesburg, VA)
Review submitted: February 12, 2011   Date of arrival: January 1, 2011

It's rare you meet folks as enthusiastic and helpful as Todd & Kim. From the first day I contacted Todd about his house through the end of our visit, his #1 goal was to ensure my wife and I had the best vacation possible.

The house is outstanding and its proximity to Whiteface is incomparable. Nothing beats sitting in a hot tub 10 minutes after leaving Whiteface - especially after 6-7 hours of hardcore skiing.

It's likely this house has the most comfortable couches anywhere - full stop. The rest of the place is very nicely appointed to boot. With all there is to do in the area, simply sitting around the house was absolutely enjoyable - although this didn't happen often given the spectacular snowfall during our stay. The layout, comfy beds, the awesome kitchen, the "Spaceship" in the basement, all combine to make this the best vacation house we've ever rented.

To sum up: The house is top notch, Todd and Kim are top notch. You're missing a treat by not staying here summer or winter. Book now.

Perfect week to be here, leaves changing. Pick a direction, and every scene is beautiful & the location is perfect; close enough to Lake Placid & Lake Champlain. Definatley go to the top of Whiteface Mnt. First, to get your bearings on mountains and lakes. Spent the last night here over on Clear Lake at a detination restauraunt called Hoymeyers pricey, but worth the experience. Could not figure out the steam shower and got a little paranoid about our trash re-cycling abilities - think we did ok. This was our 1st trip to upstae New York & Vermont - we'll be back.
P.S. rent movies at the market down the road and get soft ice cream there.

Todd (the owner) Is So Accommodating

My wife and I loved our stay at Olympic Dreams Chalet. Although we had many days of rain, we still loved staying in the house - reading, soaking in the hot tub, just relaxing, and watching the great TV, which brings me to the TV cable story. The TV only had basic cable. Not many stations. I called Todd to ask him how to light the gas fireplace. He explained how, and I got it working. I just happen to mention that we were hoping for more TV channels – we like TCM and CNN. He said no problem, and the NEXT DAY the cable guy came, and we had our channels. Todd is great! I think he would do just about anything to keep the customer happy. We will definitely return next year.

We had an awesome stay! The Chalet is so close to Whiteface, hiking/XX trails, kayaking! The house was clean inside and out! Comfortable, relaxing. The hot tub and deck were great for viewing the amazing stars in the Adirondacks! Great kitchen! Great fireplace and fire pit outside! Close to Lake Placid with great restaurants and the Olympic Village is excellent! Todd and Kim left us a gift certificate for a great restaurant in Lake Placid! Nice! We will be back in all seasons!
