Piedmont Cottage was cute, functional, very clean and the perfect place to celebrate my husband's 30th birthday. I wish we could've visited when the roses were blooming, but even the overcast/rainy mid-March weather didn't put a damper on the city's activies. We chose Portland for the breweries. Having the Max (public-transit) walking distance to the cottage made for enjoyable stress-free exploring.

We made use of the kitchen which was one of the selling points of the cottage as we like the option of being able to relax and eat "at home" while traveling. The shower doesn't have the greatest water pressure and the hot water lasts about 15 minutes, but was adequate for us.

Heather and Topher were very laid-back and answered any questions we had. Make sure you try the tandem bicycle and the pink/pickled deviled eggs at Saravesa which is less than a mile from the cottage!

Recommended for: sight seeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway

Owners response: Thank you so much for the review! And thanks for letting us know about the shower, we'll be sure to fix that right away! My husband is a great plumber so he'll get right on it.

Great having you, hope to see you again sometime & glad the cottage worked out for you,

Cheers, H & T

I had a great time staying here. The price was the thing that caught my attention, but the place itself is the thing that will bring me back. I like Portland, but only for a relaxing getaway. This place allowed me to get around the city and come back to a homey place where I could easily cook my own meals and relax comfortably. Definitely a perfect place for a couple or maybe even two couples (as long as you don't plan on spending too much time at the cottage, it's relatively small). Also, Heather and Topher are absolutely wonderful and so hospitable. :) I highly recommend the place!

Heather, Topher, Inigo, Jean Jean & Stella (whom we sadly did not get the pleasure to meet).

Thanks so much for an amazing 1st experienc in Portland -- What an awesome city you live in! The cottage had everything we could possibly need; we were so impressed with its layout & space saving design! We thoroughly enjoyed riding your streets on the tandem & also the little surprises left in the rocks from Jean Jean. I think she finally warmed up to us :) We surely will be visiting Portland again, if not u-hauling it out here to live! If so, we now know some great people who live here.

Take care & keep on enjoying life!

Thanks so much for everything! Your food & drink suggestions - Saraveza & the Meadow along with your seggestion that we go see "the swifts" were great! We enjoyed every bit of our time in Portland, and the Piedmont Cottage was a lovely home away from home....especially with visits from Inigo!

We will absolutely be back, maybe next time to explore a bit more of Mississippi with the tandem. :)

Thank you so much for creating such a beautiful and tranquil space for visitors to Portland. It was just perfect for our little family. The proximity to all our friends in NE could not have been better. We appreciate your relaxed and gracious hosting style, and felt completely at ease. Our little Quinn loved playing with your pets, rocks and of course Stella. We also really appreciate the laundry, pack n play, and BBQ options. We wish you all the best and we hope to see you again on future visits to Portland.
Thanks again, Kari, Phil & Quinn

Piedmont Cottage was precisely as set out in their website. It was spotless, with extremely well-equipped kitchen and loads of bedding.
The hosts were so helpful in their advice on local restaurants, activities, transportation, etc. and were great company, without being intrusive.
The park opposite was sensational, with a rose garden, swimming pool, two playgrounds, water park and many other facilities.
The bus, train and supermarkets were all within easy walking distance, likewise the funky cafes nearby.
The park opposite meant the children always had something to do on our "days at home".
I have no hesitation in recommending this property, particularly to a couple wanting somewhere that is both quiet but near to all conveniences.

Recommended for: age 55+, girls getaway, sight seeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway

Owners response: Thank you so much Sandy! We also had such a blast with you, Marilyn, Lexi & Jethro! We hope to see you again if you are ever on walkabout in the Pac NW! Thanks so much for the great review & also for being such fun, courteous, clean & amazing guests! We had a blast with you, hope to see you again sometime & we hope your journey back to Austrailia wasn't too long.... All our best to you, Heather, Topher & Stella
