Great location! Great Trip!

Review submitted: April 11, 2013   Date of arrival: February 17, 2013

Our trip was great! We were very impressed with the accommodations at Mountain Lodge. We were able to unpack our stuff and spread out within the condo. The snow conditions were absolutely wonderful-there was fresh powder each morning. The ski in ski out from Mountain Lodge is ideal-it is literally steps from the Ballhooter lift-there are not many centrally located ski in/ski out lodges where you literally put on/take off your skis at the door.

Tim was the best, most friendly helpful owner/manager I've ever dealt with on VRBO.

Overall, I think Snowshoe is AWESOME for eastern US snow skiing. It is the closest in size/scope/amount of fresh powder to the western resorts in Colorado, Utah, etc. Thank you again for the GREAT vacation!

A Perfect Getaway

The accommodations provided made for a wonderful ski trip. We had access to everything we needed and were so thrilled that we booked a return trip a week later. Not only is the unit perfect for what we wanted, but Tim was great to deal with and the folks at the facility were so friendly and helpful. We will, without a doubt, book this property again next season.

After many trips to Snowshoe, this was our first time staying at Mountain Lodge. The ski in/ski out location is great. The condo was clean and in good condition and had everything we needed including a great view even though it is first floor (first floor is a plusas well as far as we are concerend-no elevator to ride). Will definitely stay here again.

Awesome! Only one word to describe it....

Perfect for what we needed! A little cramped for four people but c'mon you can't beat the price! Tim was great. Followed through with everything he said. They even let us check in early. Room is at the end of the hotel.... Little bit of a walk but worth it not to hear anyone kicking snow off their boots. Use the door next to the play area! Much faster to parking lot. We will be back for sure.

President's Weekend Review

Review submitted: February 20, 2013   Date of arrival: February 13, 2013

Our trip was absolutely wonderful. We were very impressed with the accommodations at Mountain Lodg. The bedroom storage was awesome! We were able to unpack our stuff and spread out within the condo. The snow conditions were absolutely wonderful-there was fresh powder each morning. The ski in ski out from Mountain Lodge is ideal-it is literally steps from the Ballhooter lift-there are not many centrally located ski in/ski out lodges. Also, the location made it very easy to hop down to the village and enjoy dinner at Cheat Mountain Pizza and Foxfire Grill. A pleasant surprise was the Comedy Central located within the Mountain Lodge. For $10 admission (including tax), we were able to enjoy some live comedy without bearing the weather conditions. There is plenty of parking as well which makes it easy to park close to the entrance and take a 1 mile ride to Silver Creek for afternoon/evening skiing. The downside to the weekend we chose was the terrible crowds. During the weekend, the lift wait time was 30 minutes so after lunch, we moved to Silver Creek were there was NO lines, NO waiting even on the long holiday weekend. Tim was a great help to, he is very responsive and answered all my questons in record time. Another benefit of Mountain Lodge was the free Wifi. The phones do NOT work in Snowshoe-even ATT only works near Cup Run. But with the free Wifi I did receive my texts and emails and I was able to communicate with home and tell them easily when to call the condo's direct line. Overall, I think Snowshoe is AWESOME. I have been visiting the mountain yearly since 2003 and my husband has been visiting since 1990. We have traveled to all the NC ski resorts as well as Vail, Keystone, Beaver Creek, and Brekenridge and we still prefer Snowshoe Mountain to each of those locations. Thank you again for the GREAT vacation. We hope to visit again next year.

The location was excellent. The condo was clean. Although old, it was decent. The WIFI is horrible and there is limited cell service (verizon) Overall it was a good stay. I would do it again.
Tim Wolfe did a great job booking my stay.

Our first trip to Snowshoe was a great experience and we are all eager to return. Our room in Mountain Lodge was very conveniently located with just a short walk to the Village. Our room was just as described and Tim was very easy and pleasant to work with. We enjoyed trying all the restaurants in the Village and hard to say which was our favorite. Every worker we approached throughout the resort were very friendly and accommodating! Overall a fantastic experience! We look forward to coming back again!

Good experience.

Overall very satisfied. There was a small stain on the sheets of the main bed which appeared to be blood and therefore was a little gross since we found it after the first night we slept there. But it wasn't gross enough to make a significant negative impact on the overall stay.

Owners response: Sorry to hear about the sheet stain, Joe. That is indeed pretty gross, but by no means common. In fact, this is the first time I've heard of any sort of stain on the sheets. I made housekeeping aware of it and it shouldn't be a problem again for future guests. Thanks for bringing it to my attention and I'm glad it didn't spoil your whole stay. Take care!

If you are going to Snowshoe you have to consider staying here! The condo exceeded all expectations from the owner (Tim) who provided excellent communication and details to the Mountain Lodge resort property and staff. The condo was very clean, comfortable, and convenient. Walk right down the hall and get your skis out of storage and the ballhooter lift (access to green, blue, and black diamiond slopes) is right there! Walk about two hundred yards and you are in the middle of the village with access to several places to eat (highly reccomend the Junction) and even a Starbucks. Can't wait to go back...thanks Tim for all your help!

Things to share for owner, visitors, etc

Robi (Powell)
Review submitted: January 6, 2012   Date of arrival: January 2, 2012

I wanted to share just a few things that might be helpful to future renters. We had a nice time, and the front desk folks at the Mountain Lodge were welcoming when we go there, the housekeeping staff really sweet, the location good, and the room was nice. ~ There is no Wifi for the most part there. For sure, there is none in the room. There is only ATT at a couple remote corners of the entire lodge.~ There is no garbage disposal. This may have some influence on food that is prepared/packed. It would be a good thing to know this in advance. I brought all kinds of veggies and salad fixings. I would have pre-cut and peeled things had I known. ~There are no kitchen linens, so folks should bring their own dishtowels. There is only one dishrag, and a very small bar rag, definitely not adequate. ~ With check out at 11, it is mentioned that there is a fireplace at the Lodge and locations around for waiting as you go in and out of the slopes. This is true, but they really don't heat the Lodge and it is not a comfortable place to just hang out during the day. We had asked for them to turn on the fireplace and they shared that they don't have it on during the day. They didn't have it on Monday evening, either, so we weren't sure when they actually put it on. They have a tv/"theatre", of sorts, area, but it was off the entire time, and they were not willing to put it on for guests.
~ The heat in the room is quite strange. It would have been good for us to know that the room can get exceedingly hot with no way to control it, and even swing to the other extreme. The first night and most of the next day, it was incredibly hot, well into the 80s. We had all the controls turned way down and it did not change the temperature. But woke up today to a freezing room, again, without any ability to alter the temperature. There are two large box fans, and one small desk fan, so it is likely this is known, but had we known this, I would have packed light clothing to both hang around the room in, and also, to sleep in. We did not have any light clothing and were pretty uncomfortable that first night.
~The restaurant downstairs at the Lodge is not usually open. This was a bit of a disappointment. ~The work out "facility" or "room" is not really that, but three pieces of excercise equipment available in the middle of the hallway with a climbing thing for children.
Just as a suggestion, too, it might be nice to have soup bowls in the kitchen. I made a big pot of homemade soup and c

Nice quiet place

Rob (Morgantown)
Review submitted: August 5, 2011   Date of arrival: July 29, 2011

The day we arrived was a scorcher, especially for Snowshoe. This property does not have AC, but a few minutes with fans cooled it down to tollerance. It was a clean place with plenty of space. It was also nice and quiet, which was nice. I am sure it livens up in the winter. I was a little bummed that we had to pay to go to the split rock pool, but otherwise a good time was had by all. I would stay here again.
