Perfect Villa for our Rio Wedding

Review submitted: July 7, 2011   Date of arrival: May 26, 2011

We rented the Villa from May 26 to June 5, 2011, for our wedding. We had 50 guests from the United States coming to Rio and we rented several properties. This property is an exceptional property and provides the best comfort in my opinion. In comparison, our Honeymoon night was spent in one of the penthouse suites at the Copacabana Palace ($R 7,200 per night), and the only difference between the Copacabana Palace and the Villa is the service is far superior at the Villa.

I contacted the owner via email and was able to meet with him in person at his office in New York. This was the first great experience with this property. The owner is a very gregarious, cheerful, and genuine person. He explained the property; showed us pictures & floorplans, and offered to help with any other needs.

The Villa is tucked away on a private dead-end street. The street is gated off and is essentially free of any traffic. The Villa is the standout property on this little street and is elegantly lit by a single gas-fired lamp. The Villa is about three blocks from Post 3 on Copacabana Beach (5 minute walk), across the street from the Metro Stop, and on the major busline. Complimentary WiFi throughout the property and a provided laptop helped us to plan events and stay in touch. The entry uses a coded lock system so we never had to worry about losing a key or being locked out.

The kitchen is a fully-loaded spacious room with all the high-end appliances a chef could desire. (Viking range, subzero fridge) We held a rehearsal dinner Feijoada for 70 people with ease. We wanted to serve beer for the dinner and a staff member arranged for a complete draft system to be delivered. (Keg, Refrigerator, taps, cups, and coasters)

We had 15 people (including 2 kids) comfortably stay at the Villa. We converted the library into another bedroom to help out with space. Each day we were greeted by a full breakfast spread made up of fruit, breads, pastries, eggs, yogurt, juice, coffee, tea, chocolate milk, etc. The staff varied the breakfast and treated us to first-class meals each day. (the stuffed French toast is amazing!)

Each day at least three staff members arrived early in the morning to quietly make breakfast, clean, water the plants, do laundry, etc. The staff provided excellent customer service. If we had any questions or needs, there was a staff person available to take care of it. I was extremely impressed by the service and care taken with this property.

An Oasis in Rio!

Review submitted: March 10, 2014   Date of arrival: February 23, 2014

Our group of 11 traveled to Rio to compete in a sporting event and stayed at the Villa after our event was over. Our only regret is we wish we could have stayed at the Villa longer! Most of our group had never traveled to Rio before so we were unfamiliar with the city. From the first time I spoke with Mike, the owner of the Villa, via phone, I knew we would be in good hands. Mike and his staff made sure we were completely taken care of before we even arrived at the Villa. Prior to our arrival, I communicated with Mike and his staff re: arranging ground transportation, sight seeing options, recommended restaurants, practical traveling tips in Rio, etc. No question was too troublesome. Upon our arrival in Rio, we stayed at a hotel closer to our sporting competition and arranged with Adan, the Villa's terrific full-time manager, to be picked up at the completion of the event. Big thanks to Adan for working w/our crazy schedule! Adan can arrange private and reliable ground transportation for Villa guests, and it was a relief for us to have someone handle this for us rather than deal with multiple taxi cabs for our large group. We were exhausted after our competition and arrived at the Villa ready to relax and unwind. Located on a quiet, gated side street, the Villa is literally a beautiful oasis in the hustle and bustle of Rio. The exterior of the Villa stands out amongst the other residences due to its warmly painted exterior and features. As soon as we stepped into the Villa, we were astounded by the beautiful architecture and furnishings. The photos of the villa are true to life! You can tell how much time Mike has put into designing the Villa, and Adan and the Villa staff have done an excellent job in maintaining it. Every morning we enjoyed a breakfast buffet with a variety of fruit juices, eggs, pancakes, fruit, etc. prepared by the Villa's staff. The rooftop pool was a welcome way for us to relax at the end of the day, and we spent a lot of time hanging out there, in the huge kitchen or relaxing in the open living room area after a day of sight seeing, walking around, or playing on the beach. Adan is at the Villa during the day and can answer questions, arrange sight seeing/transportation, or attend to any needs. The Villa is conveniently located in a mixed residential area and a few blocks from the beach. I would certainly go out of my way to stay at the Villa again, and I highly recommend it to anyone staying in Rio!

Awesome time in Rio

Review submitted: December 9, 2013   Date of arrival: December 6, 2013

Absolutely the most fabulous home to stay in in Rio.The home is in a very safe neighborhood. The home is very warm and cozy and impeccably decorated. The pool on the top floor is small but still serves the purpose of cooling off in it and relaxing by it. Every detail is designed by the owner and has been known to decorated homes and offices in New York and England. The staff is fabulous and very helpful. There is laundry service and rooms cleaned every day. The breakfast is very diverse and delicious. You are in walking distance to shops and Copacabana Beach. Grocery stores and Delis are very close. The staff is very capable of providing tour services and transportation services. The tours we went on were fabulous and breathtaking. The restaurants we went to were wonderful. I would do this trip all over again and stay at the same place. If it asked for 10 stars I would give it a ten. I just can not say enough about about the whole experience.

A royal oasis in the heart of Copacabana

Review submitted: November 26, 2013   Date of arrival: October 20, 2013

Part 1 - We (a couple) stayed at the Villa for 3 nights in October (2013). Adan arranged for our evening pick up at the airport, and he emailed us enroute from the airport to the Villa to make sure we were safe and comfortable. After an unexpectedly short drive, we arrived at the Villa and our bags were carried upstairs to the main bedroom on the 2nd floor (the one with windows overlooking the street).
The main bedroom was air-conditioned, had television (which we never watched) and a spacious ensuite marble and glass bathroom. The bathroom has a large Jacuzzi and sizeable separate walk in shower, and many lights and fixtures. Most appealing. Also, the water throughout the Villa is filtered, so you may feel safe drinking it. There’s also a comprehensive guide (kept in the kitchen) to the Villa and the environs that is of enormous assistance (for sight-seeing, restaurants, shopping etc), as well as extensive library geared to the Rio visitor.
The Villa, though of fairly recent new construction, has the feeling of a lovingly restored and furnished country estate home, albeit one with tropical plants, parrots, and a rooftop swimming pool. The owner has decorated it in a variety of compatible styles, and it features rich and ornate French doors throughout, comfortable sofas and chairs covered in rich fabrics, a jaw-dropping crystal chandelier over a big dining room table, and a chef’s kitchen. The large kitchen has windows overlooking the street, three sinks, cabinets full of china, drawers filled with silverware, all modern and high-end appliances and several bar stools for countertop dining. One longed for a docent to guide us through the Villa and describe each of the varied objects of art and antique pieces, as well as all the many stone and architectural features of the house.
The cook made our breakfast the first morning - delicious pastries and eggs. We had access at all times to the kitchen, and brought in some fresh juices, fruits and bottled water from a grocery store around the corner. Despite the hot weather during our stay, the Villa was always cool and welcoming. We didn’t use the roof pool because some renovations were underway, however the pool water temperature was inviting. They were completing an expanded pool deck while we visited, a deck that will hold loungers for sunbathing.

One word: Spectacular!

Review submitted: November 25, 2013   Date of arrival: August 15, 2013

I am a Brazilian lawyer living in the USA and was on a visit exploring sites for my wedding in Rio August 2014 and to have" save the date" photos taken. Of my two weeks there - one weekend was at the villa.
I noticed photos of a wedding in the villas web site and thought it might be a possibility. My stay there was nothing short of spectacular. It is more beautiful, cozy, and even more wonderful than pictures can demonstrate.
The location is perfect as my local friends had the Metro Station Estacao directly across the street. Before we checked in, it was arranged for me to be a guest at a large reception there so I could see how the villa handles functions.
Hands down - it was the best choice to make for wedding ceremony and dinner for next year. The food was incredible and the best I have sampled in Rio. There were a few appetizers including the villas hummus and many finger foods. The main course was a miso glazed bass or chicken coconut milk curry. The finest fish I have ever in my life tasted. A spectacular small pasta salad with apricots, pistachios, feta cheese and a very fine corn pudding. Two of the servers told me that the German chocolate cake is a house specialty.
I have to acknowledge the marvelous staff whose energy makes the whole operation A+. It is kind of funny that one house worked so well for our little weekend stay that was only my fiancée and I and two bridesmaids. Yet at the same time it worked well for the big reception that I attended. Almost impossible for one place to be right on for both size groups yet they do it and do it so well. I want to give a special thanks to the owner, the concierge, and the kind women who took such good care of us.
I noticed shortly after I returned to the USA that the villa was in the background of two different events whose photos were in O Globo - the Rio main newspaper. I have to say that I am not surprised. It is being discovered and that is well deserved.
Quality like this is relatively rare in the Rio that I know especially considering the cost which I considered very reasonable. I could never imagine that such a house exists in a city I know so well.
We can't wait for our dream wedding next year!

We had a terrific time and a lovely staff. The staff went out of their way and above and beyond to ensure that we had a great time and that we did the things(tours that we wanted t do). The cook Maria prepared our breakfast and other meals with a true love for cooking in her heart. The meals were not only delicious but attractive which made the meals even more appealing. Adan the concierge was more than helpful and ensured that our trip was a pleasant trip indeed!!

Luxury in the Heart of Rio

Review submitted: October 8, 2013   Date of arrival: August 4, 2013

This is my first review, and I was compelled to write one because of how great our experience was. In August, we visited my brother and sister-in law in Brazil and stayed at the Villa. My two teenage kids thought it was like staying in a cozy castle. We were in one of the greatest cities in the world and my kids (who love the beach) did not want to leave the house they thought it was that cool. Here is my summary:

STAFF – The staff is very helpful. Mike, the owner, and Adan, the manager, are extremely knowledgeable on restaurants and things to do. Adan speaks English, Spanish, and Portuguese and is great at helping you with anything you may need.

LOCATION – It is right in the heart of Copacabana. It is on a side street, but close to the Siquero Campos Metro station and several blocks from the beach. With-in a two minute walk, there are 3 grocery stores, several sandwich/juice stands, several pharmacies, and more than a dozen restaurants ranging from kilo to sit down to fast food.

TRANSPORTATION – We drove in from Cabo Frio. The house is about 15-20 minutes from Santos Dumont airport and 35-40 minutes from Galeão. As mentioned, the metro is two blocks away or you can easily get a cab a half a block away. If you need to, the staff is more than helpful at helping you with airport transfer, site-seeing, or any arranging other transportation. The only negative is there is very little street parking nearby. You have to go about 2 blocks away to use a garage.

THE HOUSE – It is hard to describe. It is not at all what you would expect in Rio. It has a kind of European feel. It is luxurious, but it is also very comfortable. The kitchen has a big island which is fun to hang out in the morning for breakfast. There is a dining room, though we did not use it. The living room is great because there is a retractable roof that lets in the sunshine. There is a den/TV room which I am told has an extra Murphy bed in the wall, but it was so well concealed we did not know which wall it was on. The bedrooms are very comfortable. Each has its own bathroom and shower/tub. There is a roof deck and pool and several rooms with bunk-beds and another large room with a loft bed. The pool is small, but good to cool off in the Rio heat. The staff keeps the house impeccably clean.

If you are traveling with several couples or families, it is the ideal site. We have stayed in lots of rental houses/apartments in Florida, Mexico, Rio, and other cities.

The Villa Rio de Janeiro

Review submitted: September 6, 2013   Date of arrival: December 22, 2012

The Villa was our urban experience before spending a week in Buzios. As a property owner and rents to visitors myself- I think i am right on target when i say that very few properties have as much to offer and reach the heights of the Villa in Rio de Janeiro.
All communications, arrangements, and the way this home is managed and staffed is unbeatable. I learned much about running a property from my stay here. I was most impressed and this is not easy to do.
The way the place is furnished and designed are elegant and warm. The staff is a "magic team". There seems to be nothing that they can not handle and do so with laughter and fun all day long.
Coming from the airport and walking into the house was a treat. The staff was all there and they had prepared a welcome surprise buffet and had arranged from Raul an Priscilla Melo who own the top rated tour purveyor in the city to help us plan our stay. As it was the Christmas holiday and much was closed in term of museums (it seems like little is open on Mondays for example) - it was a wise move on the owners part. It was easy to see why the Melo agency is also rated # 1.
Marcos our driver was always smiling - even after spending hours in traffic trying to show our family Rio's famous floating Christmas tree. We had all our meals in except for one evening when the staff celebrated with their families and made reservations for us at their favorite BBQ place between the villa and the beach. Marcia is an incredible cook and we loved her breakfast inventions - the incredible waffles for the kids - and all her special baking. Probably one of the top afternoons we spend was at a local cooking school where we all learned how to prepare a feijoada, caipirinhas, and pudding and Christmas nut treat.
Thanks for the wonderful owner and his wonderful manager and the lovely staff. you made our Christmas. Nothing in Buzios compared with our Carioca experience.

Best place to stay in Rio

Review submitted: September 3, 2013   Date of arrival: August 3, 2013

My wife and visit Rio 4-5 times a year. If it is available we always try to stay in the Vila. For us the location is ideal. It is about 4 blocks from the beach on a side street 1 block from the metro station. The fact that is on a side street makes it very quiet, which is a plus especially during weekends which could get loud in Copacabana.

The house is warm and welcoming. The kitchen is fully equipped for anyone who likes to cook. You can also contract a staff to make meals if you want, we never have. The bedrooms are very comfortable and cozy. Our favorite part is the roof deck which has a small pool and a barbeque.

Mike, the owner, and Adan, the caretaker, and all the staff go out of their way to make sure that you have a great stay.

The house is great for large groups or several couples.

Frequent travelers

Review submitted: May 10, 2013   Date of arrival: February 4, 2013

I and my group of friends are pretty frequent Brazilian travelers and this year opted for a few days in Rio and then Carnaval in Salvador Bahia ( a first experience). The three nights at the villa were so packed full of delight - that I am glad we choose not to stay in a beachfront hotel. I did not have clear expectations about what a house rental would be like but with the size of the group and the non availability of affordable rooms - short stay in the villa ws the only solution. Great fortune on our part.

So much has been written that is difficult to say more. Everything about this incredible house and its staff and its style of making you at home is worthy of an award.

I spent one morning in the library with the house guest book which I retrieved fro the entry hall table, reading all the messages from people all over the world who have stayed here and penned their wishes and feelings. It is obvious that this place has quite a fan club and I am but the newest member. Thank you Michael and Adan for all your superb planning and creative thinking. Thank yoy Kelly, Marcia, and Marcos for your kind care. You occupy a special place with us. No one does it better than you guys. I fear it will be hard to reserve relatively late as we did this time.

ONCE IS NOT ENOUGH

Review submitted: May 8, 2013   Date of arrival: April 18, 2013

This is my second stay and my second review of the villa. It is hard to imagine that this mansion which received my highest rating in 2008 - could find room for change. Decoration and service was then over the top The third floor was partially under construction while I was there - an expansion of the pool area, a new bathroom, and some changes to the little 2 story house on the top floor back in the garden. The new garden layouts and more tropical feel with the birds in cages is marvelous. Adan, the local owner and manager showed us the new colors as the house is being repainted top to bottom. It would seem that this group never stops - always improving, changing, a fresh feel, different menus, but the same smiles from the same wonderful staff. It feels like coming home. Met Raul, the owner of the villa's affiliated tour group - Rios de Historias and booked two walking tours thru him. I felt that spending a few hours with someone so passionate about the history of Rio de Janeiro has given me a whole new perspective on my adopted city. Our last day was spent on a drive to Petropolis and lunch at the Pousada in Araras. Magnificent. The totally redecorated libray, living room-atrium, and three second floor bedrooms give a very English feel to the place. The pink color of the morning room, the black marble fireplace, and the mossy green carpet are unbelievable. Luckily - the kitchen is the same. Just more chefs tools. Adan explained that the office is being moved to the third floor and in May - there will be new baking center and ice machine in its place due to all the receptions and functions being held at the Villa. Half of the villas air conditioning was changed in April and the other half will be changed in May. No interruptions for us though. Thanks to Paula, Kelly, Ceara and Marcia who pampered us beyond

belief. There is some very new internet service changes which will bring Rio into a league ready to host the World Cup. Our internet service was spotty at times due to the changes. For the inconvenience - the Villa hosted a full sit down breakfast for the week we were there. Pancakes, waffles, casseroles - the whole range. I must say that considering the huge amount of construction - we were never bothered and the villa was set to shine every day when we returned from our tours. I am looking forward to the Olympics and our third trip with a stay at the Villa. Once you find a spot like this - you never change.

Special Family Vacation

Review submitted: April 26, 2013   Date of arrival: December 21, 2012

This was a special family vacation and our first in Rio de Janeiro. Adan, Paula, Kelly and Marcia were super hosts and we left feeling like we had made a perfect choice in reserving this house. It is both beautiful yet so homey and charming. A lot of thought has gone into creating this very special place. And a lot more thought into how to five guest an experience that they are unlikely to forget. Our family of 17 ranges in ages from 17 to 82 and everyone was enchanted. The staff just seemed to really enjoy all of the children around. The last dinner at the Villa was one which will always be with us - a great family candlelit dinner with an incredible cake baked by Marcia. Unbelievable. Adan and the owner had bought gifts and wrapped them and had them under the incredible Atrium Christmas tree. Little things but they meant so very much to us all.

The Villa gets the very top rating in al the email communications with Michael (the owner) and all the help in many phone calls helping us arranging our days tour. Another top rating to the huge Villa Manual which we received before our trip covering so many suggestions and a wealth of information.

Marcos our driver was like part of the family after the week. We are talking about a return trip but unfortunately Olympics is not available. But we will return.

Over the top!

Review submitted: April 15, 2013   Date of arrival: January 12, 2013

Everything about the villa rental was over the top - from the first email response from the owner - thru the meticulous planning with him - the week of Rio expenses - and the farewell they threw for us. It is one thing to rent a house and enjoy a city. It is totally different expenrience for me to have a group go so far of their way to make sure we experienced the best of their city and saw things that we could not have quite imagined. We met Michael the owner on our last morning there and he got an ovation when he walked in.

Their villa manual is unique and better than any single guidebook on Rio de Janeiro. Our thanks to Adan, the wonderful maids, our drivers, and our super chef -Marcia. Your birthday cake was truly an amazing and beautiful surprise. To find out you made all those different flowers yourself was amazing. This house is graced with beauty, laugther, and love.

The Villa A+++

Review submitted: April 14, 2013   Date of arrival: December 4, 2012

Every detail about the Villa was A+++. The owner was apologetic that he could not offer a longer stay but worked with my family and I to house us in 2 properties during our week vacation in Rio de Janeiro. I can see why it is called the marvelous city. The Villa is far more beautiful in reality than the pictures on the internet could ever demonstrate. The gardens A riot of flowers and colors along with the menagerie of birds. All of the major rooms in the house including our bedrooms had freshened flowers daily. The Staff is beyond compare. Such a bunch of sweet, dedicated, and smiling young people who obviously enjoy their work. We have never felt so well cared for in any other hotel or private home.

Breakfast daily was treat. The guides and drivers arranged by Adan were fun and became fast buddies with some of our teenagers. I don't think it will be possible to have sampled more of true Rio than that which was provided for us by Mike and his team. The only incredible Christmas decoration we saw while in Rio was the Villa - and it was over the top.

There is no single guide book about spending time in Rio that I would rank as highly as the on the Villa sent us shortly after our reservation. We enjoyed Copacabana much more than Ipanema as we were made to feel at home there. Even our last night in Rio which had to be spent at the neighboring hotel since there was another party checking in was special. The staff moved us in and it was pretty clear that the hotel staff knows and pampers the villa guests.

A piece of Rio Paradise

Review submitted: February 18, 2013   Date of arrival: February 14, 2013

We are currently on a 9 Day stay here in Rio and this property is a beautiful Oasis in the heart of hustling bustling Copacabana. As pictured, the small pool on the roof is reminiscent of a Morrocan plunge pool and roof terrace. Exquisite. Great for catching some rays or having a drink by at night. The sweltering heat in Rio can make it a stuufy place and this is THE best place to come and cool down.

The hosts are extremely hospitable, catering for our every need and with smiles on their faces. Rio has a reputation for thiefs and pickpockets, but we've seen nothing of this and feel very safe in this closed off road, with security gate and guard.

We've had wonderful Brazilian and International cuisine since being here, cooked by the inhouse chef. Fresh Juice, exotic fruit and hearty breakfast have been a main stay. Whenever peckish we have been readily supplied with tasty treats in between meals also!

The large double bedrooms are very roomy and eloquently designed, the place oozes charm and class in equal measure

A definite 10/10 in every concievable category! Go visit!

The villa is truly one of the most exquisite luxury homes in Copacabana. During our stay it has become more than just a summer villa its has become a personal home and residence for us; a true highlight to our vacation. My friends and I were military vets on vacation here and the owner Dr. Mike showed great patriotism and military hospitality toward us as guests. Dr. Mike's hospitality and kindness is clearly reflected through his professional villa staff. The property manager Adan is a professional and friendly gentleman. I was impressed by his attention to detail and charming intellect. The house staff from the lady chef and housekeepers became more like trusted family and friends throughout our vacation. I highly recommend the personal chef services, very cost effective on travel budgets; food was of excellent quality and taste with the best ingredients from the local area! They were very attentive and left us completely satisfied at the end of each day. Every year, Dr. Mike and his staff constantly upgrade and modernize the villa. Their efforts increases the villa's value and further compliments the beauty of the home. Each room has a distinctive luxurious theme with unique style. The rooftop pool is soothing and enchanting at night. The villa's atrium is gorgeous when lit up at night. Internet connectivity isn't always the best because of the area but Adan strives to ensure your internet needs are met by whatever means he can resourcefully provide. In the end, I have nothing but gratitude and gifts to give to them because they were genuinely excellent hospitable hosts. I look forward to my next vacation opportunity to return to this villa. My personal gratitude and appreciation for Dr. Mike and his Villa a Copa Jewel complimented by a caring professional staff that makes this place your home away from home!

Wow

Review submitted: January 7, 2013   Date of arrival: November 22, 2012

I have in the past rented apartments and houses in Europe and the US but never written a review. The vacation was so over the top because of the special warmth of this house and its unbelievable staff. The house is unlike any other rental because someone is extraordinarily committed to "the best". This shows up big time in the marvelous group of people they have assembled to take care of guests in a fashion that I have not experienced before. Yet for our group of six couples it was an absolute bargain as compared to any other available hotels or rentals. We read the earlier reviews and decided to take a chance and rent the villa.

THE VILLA
It is the most exceptional and dramatically beautiful spot. When we arrived - it looked totally different than the pictures on the website. Apparantly - many of the public rooms and suites had been redecorated but not yet photographed. This was the first time I experienced a place where the photos could not do justice to the
real thing. WHile we were there - an artist was working daily on two plaster friezes in a stairhall - turning plaster work into rose marble. Every day we saw the process going on. Incredible to see. Every room is unique in its own way from the very English country house bedrooms to the simple cabins and the incredible Balinese house perched on the top floor. The manager explained that this winter - a new 4th floor deck is being added and the pool lounge area extended over the glass atrium roof for sun chairs. This attention to detail explains why the villa looks like it does.

THE STAFF
We did not arrange for any meal service. Changed our minds on day two. Breakfast is not something that is easy to find in RIo. Our first dinner at a simple Japanese restaurant ended up being almost 90 dollars per person. We also decided to spend our days out and eat in at the villa and arranged with Adan the concierge to have Marcia the cook come in. GREAT CHOICE !!! We choose our own menu and got to finish long days out with relaxing time in and having dinners in the dining room. You name it and if it is available in Rio - you have it for dinner. Amazing.
The staff is young, fun, and absolutely charming. You can feel how they love their jobs and how committed they are to the owner and the guests. What a sweet group. Somebody knows a lot on how to manage a house - think it must be a combination of Adan and the owner who we did not meet.

THE CITY
Seems to be a flurry of activity. Building a

Good vacation rental

Review submitted: December 26, 2012   Date of arrival: December 10, 2012

We have stayed at the villa for 5 nights 6 days , there were 15 people and 2 babies in our group. Everything was good , the villa is as appears on the pictures, the location was good , the property was clean and staff was very very helpful. The owner provide good customer service and the manager, Adan was very helpful with all our questions and our excursions in Rio. It is really difficult to find a large and beautiful vacation rental like this but I think our stay will be more perfect if we were max 12 people. I will recommend this villa for everyone planning a trip to Rio, Again many thanks to Adan who helped us a lot!

Words cannot describe this place (and the staff)

Review submitted: November 27, 2012   Date of arrival: November 5, 2012

This was our first experience in vacation rental, and we don't know if we'll go back to staying in hotels again. This villa and its staff definitely spoiled us. The villa was perfect for our group of 10. We arranged to be picked up at the airport by the villa. When we arrived at the villa, we were warmly greeted by the manager, and the staff of 5. We immediately felt totally comfortable and at home. The villa itself was just as the pictures on the website. It was very spacious, with lots of room for group gathering, as well as room to escape to if anyone wanted privacy. During our stay, the staff was very accommodating to any of our requests. We even had the chef cook us a traditional Brazilian meal to celebrate the 38th anniversary for my sister and her husband. It was simply fabulous. By the end of our stay, we felt like we've known the staff for years (even though there was a language barrier, with the exception of the manager). We have very fond memories of the villa and the staff.
Starting from the initial contact with the owner, right to the end of our stay, the experience was smooth and we had such a wonderful time. Kudos to the owner for allowing us to staying at his wonderful villa, kudos to the manager and staff for being so warm, helpful, and incredibly Brazilian. Love you all.
Definitely recommend it to anyone.

Over the top experience

Review submitted: November 15, 2012   Date of arrival: October 8, 2012

From the moment we reserved it was clear we were in great hands. We received by email an 80 page guide to the villa, the neighborhood, the city, restaurants, shopping, etc. Made it easy to plan in advance. I don't think you get this from even a great hotel. They thought of everything and paying attention to his tips made for a perfect stay. We had underestimated how expensive Rio was and the villa was a real bargain although it was more expensive that our other choice.

Every morning started with our gathering in the dining room for one of Marcia's fine home cooked breakfast. We had her do 3 dinners for us in and ate out 3 times. Not impressed with local restaurants and give her kitchen top ratings. No house by itself makes the experience. It was the sweet, smiling, high energy and fun staff that made it unforgettable. Thank you Adan, Marcia, Marcos, Paula, Kelly and especially Marcos. They helped us plan our touring and we feel like we got the real Rio.

We will be back. You guys should some sort of a blog or Facebook page.

Memorable stay

Review submitted: November 11, 2012   Date of arrival: November 1, 2012

This is a wonderful place  for a family get together.. Everyone from my two year old niece and 85 year old mother felt at home at the villa.  The accomodations, service and experience were memorable to everyone thanks to Michael, Adan, Marcia and the team.  The villa by itself is a site to be visited; the architectural details and interior design is tastefully well done, combining the design on old Brazilian homes with modern amenities.

With 14 members in the family, we preferred staying home for meals.. The breakfast and dinners prepared by Marcia and Michael ( as we benefited by his presence) were much better than dining out.
Again, there was always something for everybody, including waffles with chocolate syrup for the kids.  Food is an important consideration to this family and dining at the villa was so much more fun.

Adan was very helpful in helping out with the logistics in accommodating a big group, including organizing the airport transfers, city tours, and purchasing supplies.  Overall, highly recommended on all fronts, accommodations, location, service and food.

Obrigado to The Villa in Rio staff

Review submitted: November 5, 2012   Date of arrival: November 1, 2012

Michael, you are a superb host, chef, baker, entertainer, travel advisor, and villa owner built in one person. The villa is so elegant with attention to the finest details from the classy decors, well kept rooms, delicious breakfast, and well planned exquisite dinners. We would to thank the whole staff - Adan, Marcia, Kelly, Paula and Jairo fro their wonderful job - they were very professional yet they made everyone feel that this was their home away from home. Special mention also to Rob who made extra effort to be with us when Abner needed some medical attention during our stay. Would definitely recommend The Villa in Rio to our friends and colleagues.

2 us group enjoy stay at Copacabana house

Review submitted: October 16, 2012   Date of arrival: August 2, 2012

2 dance groups totalling 33 people stayed at this beautiful home! We felt like movie stars. We paid extra for 2 superb dinners and ate together like a family. The meals were beyond fabulous! We also paid extra to have our transportation to and from the airport and have a brief city tour. It was perfect to have all arrangements made by the owner, Michael. He was very good at maintaining contact and assuring me that all would go perfectly as planned and it did!

We were very fortunate to also have Michael, the owner, make arrangements to also rent part of the home next door to accomodate the rest of our group for sleeping purposes.

The home is so beautiful straight out of a magazine! Minutes from the beach, safe neighborhood and the best staff you could ever expect!

Congratulations Michael, and staff (Adan, Sonia, Marcia, Paula & Jairo) for a job well done! We loved every minute of our stay in Rio!

"Dream Wedding"

Review submitted: October 16, 2012   Date of arrival: July 5, 2012

In July of this year, my husband and I exchanged our vows in the heart of Brazil, Rio de Janeiro. With guests from America and Brazil, we wanted to provide a mixture of cultures with a combination of classy, intimate and a lot of fun. My first concern was where I would put my american family-from my cousin's two year old to my grandma. As we searched for different hotel prices, I came across a wedding blog of a woman whom had not only hosted her family at the Villa, but also had her wedding there. I immediately sent an inquiry which was answered in as little as 24 hours. Within that same week, the owner, Michael called me to discuss my wedding plans and provide an idea of what he could create in case I wanted to have my reception there.

My family, which include 15 people, stayed confortably in the Villa for the week of my wedding. Restaurants were suggested, homemade meals were made for us and everybody felt at home. We even had our dogsitter fall through and Michael's solution was to just bring the dogs with! This is an owner who will make sure that your vacation is relaxing. He will go out of his way to make sure that you are happy.

On the day of our wedding, our only responsibility was to get dressed and arrive at the church. Our ceremony was no more than an hour and by the time our 60 guests arrived the Villa, it had completely transformed. The appetizers were out of this world and some were even passed out by the Villa staff. A bar had been put in where our guests could order typical Brazilian drinks. Everybody was having fun. THe dinner - amazing. Michael accomodated to my vegetarian needs and let me tell you, the bride did not go hungry. Anytime I return to Rio with a group, I will look no further than the Villa. My friends and family walked away saying that it was the best wedding party they had ever been to. People are still talking about the music, drinks, food and staff.

New Years in Rio

Review submitted: August 23, 2012   Date of arrival: December 26, 2011

This villa in Copacabana was the perfect place to spend New Years with the fam. With a household of 9 we were more than comfortably accommodated. The home is situated in a way that permitted each of us our own personal space, but also provided a large dining area which we used to start and end every day. I shared the top floor with two friends and my brother and I felt as if we were in a separate home. If breakfast and dinner wasn’t incredible enough, the deserts were out of this world! (Annie needs that bread pudding recipe Mike) The house was cleaned daily including our laundry, and there was always someone cooking.

Most days were planned the evening before and after a quick text or email, whatever assistance we needed was easily made. Pedro and Anderson became such an integral part of the group it was as if they had made the trip with us. Whether it was hiking, eating, going to the beach, or late night fun, their suggestions always exceeded our expectations, and their company added to the experience.

The beach is a quick walk from the villa, and the boardwalk was a blast. For New Year Eve, the whole family watched a concert on the beach in front of the Copacabana Palace while a fireworks show took place along the coast. We spent the rest of the evening stopping at clubs on our way back to the villa. The location couldn’t have been better.

Every day and night was different, but we never ran out of things to do. The days were full of shopping, hiking, para sailing, and the nights had some other wholesome extracurricular activities. The people were beautiful and they all seemed to be warm to Americans. The language barrier wasn’t an issue, but I did return home with a habit of gesturing while talking.

It was an incredible trip that I hope I am fortunate enough to make again. Thank you Mike (Momma)!

Two dance groups with a total of 33 people needed to find a place to stay in Rio. I was very fortunate to be able to have us stay at this MAGNIFICENT house! It was sheer luxury. We felt like movie stars! The staff quickly became our family. They did so much to make us feel at home. If you have a chance to purchase their meals....do so.....they were A++.

Located in a superb area, extremely safe and minutes from the beach! I would definitely recommend this home! We were extremely fortunate that we were also able to rent part of the home next door since our group was so large. It was a sheer Godsend that we had that luck.

We also paid extra to have our transportation to and from the airport and have a brief city tour. It was perfect to have all arrangements made by the owner, Michael. He was very good at maintaining contact and assuring me that all would go perfectly as planned and it did!

Beautiful Vacation Home

Review submitted: August 19, 2012   Date of arrival: August 2, 2012

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Copa Palacio. The house is very beautiful with all the kinds of amenities and conveniences that you would want in a vacation house: Multiple rooms, multiple bathrooms, artistic attention to detail in decoration that makes you feel "at home", an intimate pool on the deck, very close proximity to the beach, and a security guard at the gate. The house manager, Adan, is also there to answer your every question and make sure you enjoy every aspect of your stay. I would definitely recommend this vacation home if you are on your way to Rio!

Icing on the cake

Review submitted: August 5, 2012   Date of arrival: December 26, 2011

When the doors were opened my eyes were met by vibrate warm and welcoming colors. Fresh flowers were everywhere throughout the house. There was lots of detail in the layout of the villa. It was a three level home that was very spacious and could accommodate all styles living . I personally enjoyed the third floor as it gave you the inside out feel with the layout of the rooms ( ie glass shower that was opened to the outside). Simply put the house was amazing.

Not only was the house amazing but the staff was amazing as well. The staff was very friendly and eager to help. Breakfast was cooked every morning. The rooms were cleaned daily. Laundry was taken care of by the staff as well. Another part about the staff that I enjoyed were the guides/drivers. They made daily schedules for us based on our likes and found activities that we truly enjoyed (ie hiking, paragliding, and etc). As I am in my late twenties it was a major plus having them them around to take us to nice night scene areas (local hang outs rather than tourist places). The staff was definitely a huge plus in what was already a gorgeous villa.

A lot of things were in walking distance, the beach, resturants, shopping. We walked from the villa to Copacbana Beach, Ipanema beach, to Leblon Mall.

The best rental experience EVER!

Review submitted: August 3, 2012   Date of arrival: December 26, 2011

The copa palacio in Rio De Jenerio was by far the best rental experience. The mansion is absolutely gorgeous. I vacationed there with my father and his partner, my aunt and uncle, sisters and brothers, and two friends from the Navy. The house was big enough for everyone to enjoy their privacy (especially because the house has so many levels) and the eating areas are just the right size to accommodate everyone at the same table for intimate dinners and drinks. The house servants were first class. The house was cleaned daily (clothes washed, clean towels/beds etc) and they went out of their way to accommodate any special requests.

The meals Mike and his help prepared were five star quality. You will not find better food in rio or back home, it was that good!

The location was perfect for two reasons: 1) the mansion is located on a private road off a main street that is guarded 24/7, the neighbors were nice and the street was quiet; and 2) the mansion is walking distance from the beach, stores, clubs, etc....

Not only was the rental phenomenal but they arranged for my family nice and knowledgeable tour guides Anderson and Pedro. Both were bilingual and knew everything about the city. They took the young people to the best clubs, restaurants, hikes, para sailing, and the older people to all of the sites (if youre into that kind if thing). Pedro and Anderson actually went to the clubs with us and did all the activities with the family. Best tour guides we have ever had and it's not even close.

We could not have been more pleased with our experience in Rio. Mike (momma), Pedro, and Anderson, and are all considered part of our family now (and facebook friends) and were a huge part of our experience while in Rio. Needless to say we highly recommend staying at copa palacio while vacationing in Rio.

Perfect for a crowd....and kids!

Review submitted: June 1, 2012   Date of arrival: May 18, 2012

Having grown up in Rio it was hard to comprehend how a place like this could be tucked away in the frenzy that is Copacabana. Three generations of our family ages 2 - 82 , for a total of 9 people, were comfortably accomodated in the villa. We hosted an extended family reumion for approximately 50 relatives , all Rio natives, who were blown away by the architecture and comfort of the house.
As has been mentioned in previous reveiws, the staff was very helpful, the beds very comfortable, all bathrooms have hair dryers, soap and shampoo, so leave that stuff at home to make room for some wares bought at the Hippy Fair which is 2 stops away on the subway (40 steps from the villa's front door).Cabs were plentyful and easy to catch and are the best method of transport around Rio.
We ate several times at Cevada wich is a typical Rio "buteco" offering great "chopp" and "pastel" ( go for the Brie and apricot pastel or the empada aberta de siri) , we also visited Restaurante Polonesa which is a great neiborhood restaurant. There are 2 good bakeries a block from the villa ( Parme and Fornalha) as well as grocery stores, dry cleaners and anything else anyone would need!
As I mentioned we had 3 kids in the house , two 5 y/o's and a 2 y/o and the older kids made friends with some of the neighbor kids and played soccer in the alley with occasional supervision. The parakeets on the 3rd floor were also a hit with the young ones...:)
The only caution I would give with kids in the house is that the recessed lighting on the stairs gets VERY hot and both older kids sustained minor burns on their legs from sitting on the steps and touching their legs to the light - lesson learned for all of us!
The stairs were a bit tiring for the older set,and they kept the up/down trips to a minimum, but should definitly be a consideration for the elderly and those with any knee or mobility issues.
In our case this was a great way to go as a group and have a place to congregate, while still having space for our little family units. I hope to return to the villa in the future!

Recommended for: age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway

Owners response: We enjoy families and learned something new from these wonderful guests. Adan, our concierge, will disenable the circuit breaker from the step lighting so this can not happen. We usually leave them on at night for guests who come in late or want to go to other floor to make it a safe journey. But during children waking hours we will block them. Always something to learn as an amateur innkeeper.

Splendor at the Casa in Rio!

Review submitted: April 2, 2012   Date of arrival: November 24, 2011

This stay was the highlight of our entire trip! Not only is Rio amazing and beautiful, but the Casa is so central that you can see all of Rio from it as a base.

The casa itself is a beautiful grand mansion with regal, plush and comfortable furnishings. I can't say enough about the wonderful staff and amenities that made our stay so special. The food and cooking was as good as any 5 star hotel and yet as a home, the casa is so much more friendly and welcoming.

From the beautiful living rooms, library and kitchen to the sumptuously appointed suites, each with en-suite baths that have marble for days, to the rooftop pool and retreat - the whole casa was an endless surprise and delight. Be sure to go up on the roof deck to see the moon and night sky with a glass of Champagne on your first night! We will go back just as soon as we can and recommend it to anyone looking for something unique and in great taste.

Elegant, Gothic and Modern. A true gem based in the heart of Rio. When you walk in your greeted by sheer opulence. you feel right at home and have a lot of privacy. The rooms were fantastic. Clean with beautiful linen. The roof garden and pool on the top was divine. Visually you couldn't ask for more. Be sure to book this villa with the chef and staff. Don't worry there not randoms from an agency, they are integral to the running of the place and you can see that the place and its up keep are special to them. Not only that, but they take care of you and are genuinely nice people. A true gem. I will definitely be going back.

Villa far exceeds its many recommendations

Review submitted: March 9, 2012   Date of arrival: February 16, 2011

Our cruise travel agent booked our group of 6 into the villa for four nights during carnival before we departed on our round the tip of South America cruise. The villa, the Rio de Janeiro tours, and the magic of Carnival surpassed our cruise. The villa is probably the most spectacular private home we have ever visited and the neighborhood, location, staff, incredible attention and our marvelous villa tour guide could not have pampered us more. Holland America could learn a few things from the villa management. We had doubts about security issues in Rio but could not have possibly felt more safer or in better hands.
After we left the villa and boarded the Veendam – we compared our Rio experiences with other passengers who had elected for a pre cruise Rio stay. It seems as if the carnival parade seats Jonatas located for us were better than they had and were a bargain in comparison. Thanks to all of the staff for a great experience.
It is your smiling faces we will remember most of our three weeks in South America.

Arriving at the Villa after a long cruise gave us the feeling of being in a wonderful home when Rio was its busiest with Carnival, we had the best of all worlds. The staff treated us royally acting like they couldn't do enough for us. Jon was our guide and we really feel we know Rio now and he safely got us to and from Carnival. The pictures of the Villa show just had perfect every detail is in the home. We had every modern convenience with cable TV, wireless internet, wonderful books on Rio plus guide books and on and on. The villa is in a neighborhood where you can go antiquing, walk to the beach, an ideal location. What a perfect end to our trip! We would highly recommend this to anyone wanting a unique experience in Rio.

50th Celebration

Review submitted: February 13, 2012   Date of arrival: October 17, 2011

Here it is, Ceci:

I wanted to celebrate my 50th Birthday in Rio with my family and friends. A friend recommend the Villa. This cozy spot is tucked away on a gated side street. From the moment we arrived until we left the staff was wonderful.

We had the pleasure of meeting Mike the owner of the Villa and he was quite simply amazing. He was all that one can hope for in a Host. We had a little run in with some little ruffians (kids really and barely in their teens) trying to mug us on the beach one night. Once Mike heard of it and he was coming to Brazil. He ensured that he came by the Villa to make my 50th Birthday Celebration extra special. Not only did he cook a B-day dinner for us, he also made my favorite cake (German Chocolate) for dessert and gave me a bottle of Don. This man who we just met made us all feel like family. I actually ended up crying.

We explored the area with the taxi driver Jon referred us to and he (Fabian) was great. He took us all around and waited for us. We visited Christ the Redeemer, the Maracana Stadium, the city of Santa Teresa which Mike recommended and had dinner there. Everything along with the beach, mall, more restaurants, was wonderful.
Close to the end of our stay, Mike took us to the hippie fair which was awesome, similar to an open air market. We enjoyed the local crafts and came away with great items for great prices. I enjoyed the place so much that I'm going back again in a month.

If you ever get the opportunity to go to Rio please check out this Villa and stay there if you can. You surely won't regret it. A lot of things were within walking distance, the beach, restaurants, shopping, etc... We actually walked from the villa to Copacabana Beach, Ipanema Beach, then on to the Leblon Mall. It was a great walk by the beach, seeing the beautiful sand art, local vendors, nice architecture. Also, we can also say that it was great exercise for us as we really enjoyed the local cuisine, LOL. I can go on and on. It was quite simply a wonderful experience.

The Copacabana Villa that won our hearts

Review submitted: January 28, 2012   Date of arrival: July 18, 2011

We ended up staying at the villa after the Chilean volcanic ash storm canceled all flights to and from Argentina. We had planned a trip to BA / Mendoza around the Marathon in Rio, but decided to "make the best of it" in Rio!

There were quite a few of us, but the concierge at our Ipanema hotel knew the perfect spot. He had been to a wedding in the villa the day before the Marathon, and suggested our group look into renting there. He walked us over on his lunch hour to meet the owner, who was on his way back to NYC.

The villa is a quirky and totally charming mansion, one of a kind no matter how you look at it. It's virtually impossible to sum up the experience because it is so unlike any other hotel or rental house anyone in our group has ever seen.

The place feels like it is from another century, but it's just a few years old, with all the modern conveniences - including a rooftop pool! Every room is magnificently detailed with furniture, art, lighting - yet it is so hip and homey, and the staff is as warm as the house.

Most of the bedrooms are suites with beautiful baths, linens, sitting areas. The oriental rugs, marble, stone, woodwork and furniture would make you think a family has lived here for generations. The wood-paneled library and native wood floors are the most beautiful I have ever seen. The kitchen is so 2012 Williams Sonoma and does not lack a thing -- if you feel like cooking. If you don't, the super ladies make the greatest breakfast, complete with homemade waffles and fresh fruit salad, and the houseman runs a great BBQ. They are young, vibrant and fill the great house with joy.

Since our extra time there was unplanned, the owner went out of his way to sit down with us and share his favorite things to do there. We left having fallen in love with the city, the staff, and this incredible house. I doubt we would have seen 3/4 of the sights if not for his knowledge of the real Rio.

To sum it up - Copacabana won our hearts. Our Cesar Park 5 star digs could not compare to this secret little gem. I have never seen a subway station so clean and beautiful as the one across the street. We were a 5 minute walk from the beach, with a great antiquing area right around the corner. We loved the local Polish restaurant, the seafood antipasto bar, the outdoor farmers market a block away, and the real life feel of Copa as opposed to the Miami beach blah of Ipanema. Ask the staff to help you plan your trip and you will not regret it

Our GRRRRRREAT Rio Vacation

Review submitted: January 13, 2012   Date of arrival: December 26, 2011

There were 9 of us in our group. We were picked up promptly at the airport and driven to the property. The house is located on a narrow street and is very unassuming looking from the outside.
The inside is beautiful and very clean. However, we all come from middle class families and were not at all intimidated by the decor.
We were about a 5-7 minute walk from the beach and in a very nice neighborhood. Anything you need: restaurants, bars, Monday Night football groceries, liquor, bakeries, clothes, getting your hair done is absolutely right there at your fingertips.
The greatest part of the vacation was the service at the house. We had virtually every meal - breakfast every day - dinner every day - sometimes lunch although we were usually out - cooked to our specifications for 9 healthy adult eaters. We paid for the food, and the total for 7 days for 9 people was under 1,000 Americal dollars. The salmon, the chicken, the macaroni, the carrots, the deserts were literally to die for. It was the best week of eating we ever had!!! We ate healthy and cheaply and never had to worry much about restaurant food.
Our rooms were cleaned and the beds made for us every day. We were not allowed to use the washer and dryer (what a shame!) as our dirty clothes were washed and dried for us daily as well. All we had to do was to bring the clothes to the laundry room.
We were there for New Year's Eve...Do not miss going on the beach with the other 2 million people and celebrating with the natives. It is safe and something you will NEVER forget.
I have nothing negative to say about anything on this vacation.
Sincerely, Steve Paster

Owners response: Because this delightful family is from New Orleans and I lived in the French Quarter during grad school there - I got very involved with the menu planning (and with some of the eating). But I want to clarify some of the rave reviews about the food in the villa. Basically - groups there on the Christmas package and the Carnival package get breakfast with the rental. This is not the case the other 50 weeks of the year
But meals in the villa are a very good buy as prices have gone up so much in Rio. We recommend our favorite restaurants for a few nights out of a weeks stay that give the flavor of the real Rio de Janeiro. But for families who love to sit down as a group and enjoy the villa - eating in is a great experience. We have a enthusiastic cook who is there Mon to Fri and for
a modest fee + the cost of groceries will surely please people who love home cooking. There is also a breakfast cook who does great waffles, pancakes, eggs to complement the bakery
goods from our local favorite shop. The same holds true for breakast - a modest fee for the cook + you buy the groceries. It makes it economical for the family or the large group and allows you to stay in and really enjoy the great dining room.
We aim to please and work hard to develop menus that your group will like. You are also welcome to ask us for great spots and local markets to shop at so you can cook for yourself
and we do the cleanup.
All weddings and corporate meeting meals are doen by our house staff usually assisted by a sous chef or two.

The Villa and staff were excellent

Review submitted: January 9, 2012   Date of arrival: January 5, 2012

The villa and staff were excellent, breakfasts were delicious and so very decoratively done. The staff at the house is very accomodating and took great care of us. We had a total of eleven people, nine adults and two youngsters, one is four and the other 20 months. They both enjoyed the house and made good use of the swimming pool. We used the staff for dinner and it was delicious. We have relatives in Rio so we were not in need of the touring van and only used it for the ride to the airport the driver was very accomodating and helpful.
You asked for any difficulties, the only one that we found was with the door to the loft bedroom, it was very difficult to get open easily. I am not sure if it can be remedied but that was the one hiccup that we had.
All in all we enjoyed Rio and your lovely villa and would be happy to recommend it to any of our friends. The area was secure and we felt very safe. Shopping for groceries was close and there is a 24 hour Pao de Asuca about three blocks from the villa. I even used the Vogue Beauty Shop and they were very nice there.
Thank you again for affording us the opportunity to stay in your villa and enjoy the sights and sounds of Rio.

The best customer service from Michael Iott

Review submitted: October 28, 2011   Date of arrival: October 18, 2011

Many owners stay away from the renters - and nobody gets to know each other. Michael Iott is so much different. From the planning phase all the way to my sister's actual birthday celebration he was a part of it. In fact his extreme warmth and generosity blew the five of us away when he offered, and made her favorite cake - German Chocolate and then dinner. Can you imagine whole Brazilian redfish, filet mignon, rice in lobster broth, roasted white and green asparagus, and sauteed green beans? Indeed!

The villa is in a very accessible location - steps away from the buses, one block from the subway, and three blocks from the beach. The staff was extremely pleasant, coming in at 8a each morning to clean and prepare breakfast. That schedule was problematic because slow starts to our mornings could not happen when the plants are being watered and with the staff wandering around.

Rua Sequiera Campos at the corner, had the supermarkets, the drug stores, other shopping, and the coveted red ATM denoting a bank that allowed international transactions. This street also took us directly to the beach, three blocks going past interesting restaurants, the butcher, a hardware store, and other community staples.

Each restaurant recommended by Michael and Jonatas, the manager, were exceptional - Arab on Avenida Atlantica, Espirito Santas in Santa Teresa, Rascals in Leblon, and Carretao in Ipanema.

Shopping was fun - especially at Ipanema's Hippie Fair and in Leblon's new 5-story mall. We toured Christ the Redeemer and Maracana and treked from Copacabana to Ipanema to Leblon.

The biggest caution, and I'm sure you'll hear it from several sources, is to be extremely careful with bags and purses and cameras. Never let your guard down - we did and were mugged on the beach about 7p. The police are not very helpful - neither the "regular" city police or the special tourist police.

In spite of that incident we all had a wonderful time, will definitely return to Michael's villa, and will explore other regions of Brazil.

Owners response: I happened to be involved with this booking from the beginning and so was personally saddened to hear about the beach incident. We usually do a cake for all event bookings but in this case
wanted to do something more positive to make the trip a success. Since I (the owner) enjoy menu planning and graduated from hotel restaurant school - it was kind of a fun project to put on the dinner. It was my intention to put it on the table while they were out touring and kind of dissapear since I want to make sure guests get total privacy. In this case however - they really were having fun and wanted me to stay. It was a treat for me as well.
A couple of points come up here. We enjoy working with guests on making their trip the best possible stay in Rio and are very hands on in helping with planning and preparation. As soon as a guest books - they receive our welcome letter, pointers on packing, where to eat, where to shop, where to tour, and other suggestions. We are accessible 24/7 as is the concierge in RIo.
However - we do want to give guests all the privacy they need (and I think less garden watering and fewer maids in the morning for people who want to start their day later). We meet and greet each party to help them with reservations, tours, transportation, menus etc. In this case - all was going so well that they let their guard down and walked on the empty beachfront after
the crowd had left - never something that even residents do. There are many kiosks on the sidewalk waterfront and thanks to the new Israeli installed security cameras - the avenue beachfront is safe. The beach is so wide in Copacabana - that where the water meets the sand although appealing for a walk in the moonlight is never safe as it is quite far from the
kiosk area. This was the first incident involving guests in just under 5 years. In the gated community of 15 homes were the villa is situated - no residents recall any crime in their memory. The villa is in the exact center of the busiest street in Copacabana where mostly local citizens live and shop and is know for its safety. Statistics show that crime in Rio has been dropping drastically but one must still avoid deserted areas.
I am happy that this group is returning this Spring for another stay and one incident did not ruin their trip.

Our stay at the Copa Palacio

Review submitted: October 23, 2011   Date of arrival: October 1, 2011

We had a group of 10 people that went to Rio for 4 nights. We stayed at the Copa Palacio. The owner was very welcoming and friendly, and the staff were great too. The owner even bought a birthday cake for my mother-in-law, which was very nice of him. The villa is very beautiful, clean and well maintained. It has 3 very nice private suites on the second floor. On the third floor, there is 2 small bedroom with bunk beds that is great for teenagers or single guys/girls(more college age, i think) to stay. Also on the 3rd floor there is a separate spacious bedroom with a tv room and bathroom that can accommodate a couple with privacy or a family (parents and 2-3 children). The location is great! 3-4 blocks from copacabana with many restaurants and grocery story close by. The metro station was right there and bus stops were close by. The morning breakfast was wonderful!! The full kitchen made a big difference, so we could buy our own groceries for snacks etc.. I would recommend this villa for your family and friends! Sincerely, Junia

A Slice of Heaven!

Review submitted: June 17, 2011   Date of arrival: May 11, 2011

Our stay at Dr. Michael's was one of extreme beauty, a slice of heaven indeed, with a wonderfully enjoyable walk to the beach. Dr. Michael was extremely easy, and delightful to work with, and was sure to stay in touch to make sure we were as comfortable as possible the entire trip. The staff at this oasis were also very pleasant, catering to our every need. There's no need to eat out when the food is this amazing! Every room in the house is perfectly decorated and organized and made us all feel like we were in a movie compared to our home back in Georgia.

Thanks for everything Doctor!

A BLAST IN BRAZIL

Review submitted: June 6, 2011   Date of arrival: May 26, 2011

I dont travel well but my son Norman was marrying a great girl. Their wedding was at the chapel of Christ Corvado - only a handful of weddings are performed there. The villa was centrally located to everything - beach, shops, other attractions. Our place to stay was fantastic - comfortable, safe, and secure. The staff was the best I ever met. The breakfast was outstanding. I was concerned about what the food would be like - who could pass up fresh fruits and juices, coffee, pastries, and waffles with real maple syrup - OUTSTANDING FRENCH TOAST !!!! Loved it all !! Thank you Dr. Mike for making our experience memorable. If you are ever in Seattle - come see us.

This is why I love HomeAway!

Review submitted: May 31, 2011   Date of arrival: May 10, 2011

The house
We walked around that first night and my wife said exactly what I was thinking ¨its clear that the owners love this place and use this as a second HOME! because the fixtures, fixings and furniture really creates a warm and beautiful homely environment.
So many rental properties are just used to make ¨a fast buck¨ but that couldn't be further than the truth here.
My 5 year old was so happy, she loved her room, the pool, the maids! pretty much everything about the place.

The people
After a 23 hour long journey form England we arrived late in the evening after being collected from the airport and was greeted by Jon a very nice chap that then gave us a tour and all the information we would need for are stay and he was only a phone call away if we needed him.

We woke up late morning to find the table spread for me my wife, daughter and I, the chef ready to cook what ever we desired. The maid cleaning, even though the place was already pristine and this continued throughout our week stay.

We kept in contact with Mike (the owner) a great guy, very friendly and always there to help, gave many suggestions and constantly made sure we had everything and were happy.

Location
Request a collection from the Airport because although only 30mins away the Brazilian taxi driver's are shocking when it comes to street names and locations!

The famous Copacabana beach is a few minutes' walk away and is fantastic!

There are many restaurants as you would expect, just check the menu first as some of these are very expensive! better yet, get Mike to give you his recommendations. We loved the seafood at 'Mario's on the main strip.

While walking around late at night with my family, we always felt very safe and comfortable in Copacabana.

Overall
I noticed this property was available for a week so I made a cheeky offer on the Monday evening and arrived there late Tuesday. I wouldn't expect to get the same deal if I booked it in advance because this property is constantly in demand but if it is available last minute, speak with Mike to see what he can do! you never know you could surprise your loved ones with a wonderful trip to Rio' as I did!

Here's my homemade movie of the house! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qT3Ki0Wo3Ow&feature=channel_video_title

RIO villa in Copacabana

Review submitted: May 25, 2011   Date of arrival: May 17, 2011

This lovely villa is perfect for 3 couples and some kids or singles also. It is beautifully appointed; staff is delightful; safe; located 1/2 block from Metro which is great; walk to beach. Breakfast is a wonderful beginning to day, and the French Toast is the best food we ate in RIO--that good! We hosted a party one night for 40 and it was perfect for the caterers use, and for the guests. Highly recommended

EXPECTED ALOT. EXCEEDED EXPECTATION.

Review submitted: May 4, 2011   Date of arrival: April 22, 2011

My family and I returned to Rio after 50 years. We had lived in Leblon as military dependents. My father was in the Navy.
Returning to Rio after so many years was a dream realized. I met with many old friends and visited my home and local hangouts. Each time we
had someone come over to the villa their reactions were calculable. No one could believe that such a home was located in the middle of Copacabana. A rare gem.
We did entertain our friends there on evening and the staff prepared a feast. Speaking of the staff, wow. Could not ask for any better. Part of the family experience and always there. No requests went unanswered. Just beautiful people.
This is not your typical rental. This is Mike's home. He shares it and all of his energy with those who are fortunate enough to come. Every time we would go out, coming back was like being in our own home.
We did have an opportunity to meet Mike the day we left and as expected he was quite a character. Jovial and always helpful.
The bottom line is that I do travel extensively and have never felt so comfortable away from home. I would steal his staff if I could. My family and myself look forward to the day we can return and again enjoy Mike's exquisite home.

Beautiful Home, Magical Experience

Review submitted: April 17, 2011   Date of arrival: April 9, 2011

This beautiful home, with its fine appointments and magestic living spaces, combined with the detailed attention of it´s owner and extremely capable staff, turned what could have been a very ordinary Rio lodging experience into one that will never be forgotten. We required special treatment and services during our stay, including a reception for up to 75 people. Both owner and staff executed this function impeccably! Throughout our one-week stay, the staff accomodated our continuously changing schedules to perfection, with full breakfasts every morning and a clean home to come back to after every day spent in this breathtaking city. We highly recommend this wonderful vila and hope it can become an integral part of your magical experience in Rio.

Recommended for: age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway

Owners response: Speaking for both the staff and myself - we appreciate deeply your choosing the villa and especially the vote of confidence you placed by having us do our first big dinner function. Although I graduated from hotel/restaurant school some 40 years ago - I have never worked in the field and went immediately to dental school. Develping a menu and coordinating this reception was sheer fun. I would have loved to have been there to see the staff work their magic but the photos I have seen showed me the "WOW" of your party.
We have 5 weddings coming up this year and 2 more diplomatic functions and because of your giving them the chance - I think there is nothing that the villa staff can not do. Rafael, the chef from BlueHill in NYC, after he visitd the kitchen that night was truly amazed.
Thanks from Michael, Jonatas, Denise, Anna, Selma, and Marcello as well as all of the drivers and ancillary bartenders and waiters.

Great Experience in Copacabana

Review submitted: April 15, 2011   Date of arrival: April 10, 2011

The house was amazing and the service even better. A quick walk from the gated house gets you to the beach, with plenty of great restaraunts on the way. Carratoa (an authentic brazilian steak house 2 mins away was wonderful) Jonatas, Denis and our driver Matos were excellent hosts for their beautifl city. Nothing can describe sitting in the rooftop pool with the gas lamps lit on a beautiful brazilian night. I would do this again in a heartbeat and recommend it for groups, business, or families. Thank you Michael!!

Stay - Thanksgiving 2010

Review submitted: February 8, 2011   Date of arrival: November 24, 2009

Since i am going to be spending much time in Rio as my company is involved with the upcoming World Cup - my wife and I decided to bring our family down for the holiday.
I know Rio well and usually stay in Ipanema hotels and I am an old hand at renting thru Homeaway having used them for years in renting European and UK properties. This is the first time I have reviewed a listing.  I am hooked on this villa and given the prices of hotel suites will use the villa when available for my upcoming business trips as I feel so at home there.
I  like this little street and even though I favor eating/shopping in Ipanema and Leblon I prefer to stay at this little quirky villa.

In short - the place is perfect.  Everything works and is first class. and the housekeepers smile and morning breakfast are great way to start a day.  Communication with the owner from the first inquiry and all follow up ensured a great Thanksgiving.  Every morning was a full table with  the most incredible breakfast - from biscuits, waffles, the best French toast, juices, fruit.    It is a hard balance perhaps to have a house staffed yet never underfoot - they get it just right.  My wife and kids fell in love with the place and the young people who run it and want to go back.

Everything works perfectly and the beds, baths, kitchen are all A+.  The pool is small but what a place to hang out especially at night when they light the gas lamps.  The top floors are just short of overgrown with all kinds of flowering trees, orchids, a trellis roof of honeysuckle which reminded us of New England.  Every room in the house has orchids.  One night with  a full moon they opened the atrium to the sky and it was incredible.  Even though it is in the middle of a big city - the top floors are totally quiet at night.

With our booking we received mucho information such as what to bring, his favorite restaurant list, where to shop.    Staff arranged airport pick-up, one tour day with their driver, and cooked a Thanksgiving dinner for us. The house is full of books, movies, and everything one could want.  Our laundry was returned the same day.

The antiques mall of perhaps 100 stores was one block away as was the incredible new Rio subway line.  We were in Ipanema in 3 minutes.  Beats Rio traffic. There is absolutely nothing that this kitchen does not have.

Last night was a surprise bottle of champagne from the owner.  Pretty hard to trump this experience.

Beautiful House

Review submitted: February 3, 2011   Date of arrival: January 4, 2011

Beautiful home with friendly staff. Great location six blocks from beach, located on a private, gated alley. Staff prepares delicious coffee and breakfast in the mornings. Master bedroom is beautiful, sunny and air conditioned though women should be aware that there's a lack of closet and dresser space. There are two teeny closets and a small night stand, so a different bedroom might be preferable with someone bringing many clothes. Bedroom is great otherwise. So glad we decided to stay here!

Amazing Home Away From Home But Better!

Review submitted: February 1, 2011   Date of arrival: January 4, 2011

I rented the villa on behalf of a group of MBA and International MBA students form the University of San Diego (USD) who were in Rio de Janeiro for 3 weeks for USD coursework. I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of accommodations, the service provided by the amazing staff, the customer service provided by the owner from thousands of miles away, and much more! The villa itself has a very unique layout. The kitchen is amazing and has all the spices you could need for cooking! Denise and her staff do an incredible job providing breakfast each morning and cleaning the house every day so it feels fresh and new. Great space for groups or multiple families on vacation! Such a great space! I can't wait to book for USD again and hopefully one day for personal use! The experience one has there is just unbeatable. If you are familiar with the standards of other accommodations in Rio, this place just blows everything else away. The villa itself is tall and somewhat compact when compared to a mansion in California, but other than being compact, it has everything you need and more! What a gem!

Excellent Accommodations

Review submitted: January 31, 2011   Date of arrival: January 4, 2011

The Villa exceeded any of my expectations prior to arriving in Rio. The accommodations and maid staff were incredible and extremely helpful. The house itself was in superb condition, making it easy choice to hang out in the house if desired. The location of the house made it very accessible to the local beaches or other attractions in the area. It was only a short walk to beach of Copacabana or a few dollar cab ride to Ipanema or Leblon.

The best trip ever!!!!

Review submitted: January 25, 2011   Date of arrival: December 22, 2010

We live in Sao Paulo and this was our 5th house rental for a holiday in RIo. The villa was beyond any experience we have ever had. I think it is the sweetest, friendliest, and most beautiful spot in all of Rio de Janeiro. THanks for the Christmas presents. We are telling all our friends in Sao Paulo and are sending you a copy of the photo Jonatas took of us in front of the tree in our bathing suits.

Hidden Gem in Rio

Review submitted: October 29, 2010   Date of arrival: October 12, 2010

I have nothing but good things to say about this fabulous property. The location was fantastic as it was very close to the beach and provided easy access to other locations in Rio. It is tucked away down a private lane which is very quiet and provides a magical escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The house itself is nothing short of spectacular. It is beautifully appointed and it is clear that attention has been paid to every detail. The house is warm and comfortable and provided plenty of space for our group of 9. The rooftop pool was a wonderful place to unwind after a day of touring. The staff was also fantastic. The house manager, Jonathan, was very helpful and Denise prepared fantastic breakfasts for us and was very accommodating to our ever-changing schedules. (She also makes a mean caipirinha). I would not hesitate to stay there again and will certainly recommend this property to anyone I know who is traveling to Rio.

Luxery Villa

Review submitted: August 12, 2010   Date of arrival: November 13, 2009

To begin with the owner of this beautiful villa gave my wife and I call the night before our departure. He gave weather and local information to assist us in getting to the villa. Once there at the villa we found all the comforts of home with staff that was eager to make this a positive experience. I was traveling with my wife, and eight other friends that totally enjoyed this location which was about 2.5-3 blocks to the beach. It was fairly easy getting to the city by taxi or subway. A bit better if you speak the language. I spent a total of seven day in Rio and I felt that my time was to short. I missed the Samba practices and the Imperial Theater. In closing I must mention the staff was great, and I look forward to returning when time allows this option.

Luxury Stay

Review submitted: July 20, 2010   Date of arrival: July 8, 2010

The villa was as described. the airport transfer was punctual and comfortable. The villa was as a brand new, well maintained, comfortable, situated in a safe and quiet street. The staff was excelllent, the breakfast was far and above anything that we expected. We were three couples with our teenage children and we all agreed that if we are ever back in Rio this will definitely be on number one on our list of places to stay. For our group the price was worth it.

Incredible vacation villa in beautiful Rio

Review submitted: January 16, 2010   Date of arrival: May 29, 2009

We highly recommend this villa! My husband & I, our 3 teenagers (15, 18 & 19) & my mother-in-law (originally from Brazil) stayed there in June 2009. It was perfect for all our needs – everyone had their own bed & bath, plenty of space to entertain extended family or find our own place to relax. The location is convenient to everything - nice easy walks to the beach, restaurants, markets, etc. Plus Michael (the owner) & the staff will help you arrange anything you need.

We saw the pictures of the villa early on & thought it looked beautiful but found out there was so much more to this home. Michael went out of his way to help with suggestions for our planning & to make sure that our entire family would enjoy themselves. There are so many extras to the home & what everyone provides that it’s impossible to list them all (but I will note his lasagna is outstanding!). To be sure that everything exceeded our expectations Michael even checked in during our stay.

Besides the incredible décor of the villa, what truly makes this a special place is the staff. They are wonderful & really help you experience more of the culture – they truly make this a unique stay different from any other rental or luxury hotel. Denise, the head housewoman, not only prepares a huge, delicious breakfast (that she kept flexible to accommodate the later mornings for the teenagers) but she will help you with anything else you need – preparing additional meals, laundry, special requests for groceries, etc. And she’s always there with a smile! Jonathan, Edie & Marie are also all the nicest people who want to insure your stay is truly special. They all helped us plan a birthday celebration for my mother-in-law – we had 13 people over & they made the night incredible. Denise’s feijoada was delicious & she took me to a wonderful bakery to pick out a cake like none we’ve had before. Edie even found candles to say ‘82’ on the cake. All these extras were typical of the entire stay.

We definitely recommend this villa for families, especially those with teens who will appreciate having separate rooms & space to hang out together. This villa is also perfect for multiple couples traveling together. It is luxurious & comfortable while allowing you to feel more a part of the beautiful Rio culture.

3 teenagers agreeing this was their favorite vacation and us all wanting to go back & stay at this villa, should emphasize the uniqueness of this special locale.

The Best Place You Will Ever Stay in Rio!

Review submitted: December 16, 2009   Date of arrival: November 5, 2009

I honestly don't know where to begin in describing the level of comfort, care, and service we received while staying at the villa. From beginning to end, it was one of the most incredible trips and stays I'd ever experienced.

The house is beyond luxurious and the attentiveness of the entire staff is beyond compare. I've stayed in 5 star hotels that didn't measure up to this experience, namely because it doesn't feel like a hotel, it feels like home, and when you're on vacation, there truly is nothing better than that.

I was filming in Rio and at the end of a long, hot day we would be exhausted. But coming back here was so relaxing and rejuvenating that I couldn't imagine ever staying anywhere else when I am in the city.

Do yourself a favor and stay here when you visit Rio. It will be one of the best choices you ever make and vacations you will ever have.

Boa sorte -
Morgan

The Perfect Long Weekend

Review submitted: December 14, 2009   Date of arrival: December 10, 2009

Came to Rio for the first time with a large group of friends and had an incredible time. The house is beautiful, bright, open and airy; there are 12 of us and we each slept comfortably and had plenty of space to sprawl out. It's centrally located but off the beaten path enough to feel secluded from the hustle & bustle of Copacabana. The staff is incomparable - eager to help however they can and maintain a vested interest in the enjoyment of their guests. We highly recommend the villa.

My trip to Rio

Review submitted: June 2, 2009   Date of arrival: February 2, 2009

The villa was booked by our travel agent who arranged a South American cruise for us. He recommended it over a beachfront hotel because he felt it would be safer and more convenient for us than a hotel given we are two senior couples with two widowed friends. He had visited the property when he was on vacation in RIo.

It was an excellent choice by him. We had the most wonderful three days in RIo de Janeiro which was the best part of our vacation including the 18 night cruise. Jonathan met us at the airport the morning we arrived and took us and our luggage to the house. The lovely cook had a lunch prepared for us as the owner had figured we might be tired after almost 12 hours on planes. The first day Jon had reserved a table poolside at the Copacabana Palace for a late light dinner. The next day was a tour of Christ the Redeemer mountain, and two old palaces in Rio. We had lunch at a beautiful old bakery downtown from around 1900 which was spectacular. The final day we spent around the pool before leaving for the port

SO much has been said about the house that it is impossible to add anything. What is very difficult is to adequately describe the most wonderful staff I have ever met. Jonathan and Edi are wonderful gentlemen with great smiles and could not have been more gracious. Denise and Maria pampered us to death. Coffee in our bedroom, helping us with our laundry and rearranging some things that needed to be ironed and repacked.

I had read so much about RIo and have wanted to visit there my whole life even though so many people are worried about crime in the city. I am so glad I did but we all feel that even though the cruise was spectacular - those days in Rio de Janeiro and the new friends who hosted us are unforgettable.

This wonderful villa is like a dream. It is an eyeful, roomy and cozy at the same time, luxuriously comfortable, and beautifully located. It's an easy walk to Copacabana beach and a quick taxi ride to many, many tourist sites. Those who like to plan their days independently can do so, but those who want advice, recommendations or a tour guide will be well taken care of. The staff is attentive and accommodating but never obtrusive. The only caveat is that there are lots of stairs (including those to reach the beautiful little pool on the third floor). And, of course, there is the problem of balancing how much you want to play tourist and how much you want to just settle in by the pool or get comfortable in the library with a good book (and there are lots of those to choose from). I would recommend a stay here in a heartbeat.

While in Rio De Janeiro last summer , I had the distinct pleasure of staying at Dr. Iott's home. The house is located near a variety of stores and market areas for shopping. Acess to and from Ipanema & Copacabana beaches, the Hippie market and .....is surprisingly easy. I loved the decor the home is inviting , clean, and spacious. The rooms are lovely, with down feather matresses, a sitting area for reading, and a jacuzzi . The pool is located atop the roof and is perfect for relaxing with a good book or fro just sunning. One of my favorite rooms is the study. The study makes one feel welcomed with its oak furnishings and wall to wall books. As for the staff, I found them to be very friendly and accomodating. I look forward to visiting Rio again and staying at Dr. Iott"s house. Marnie Ponce

Fantastic Christmas and New Years in Rio!

Review submitted: January 31, 2009   Date of arrival: December 21, 2008

We decided to spend Christmas and New Years Eve in Rio for 08. I am an American living in Paris with my wife and youngest son who is 18. I have a son in London who is 20 and another in the US who is 21. With the family spread so far, Christmas is a very important time of the year to us to spend some quality time together. We searched far and wide until finding this luxury villa on the web. At that point our choice was made as this looked like a perfect place for our holiday.

The owner, Michael was great to work with and really sought to ensure we had a special stay. He gave us some great tips to enjoy the area, had the staff purchase food and beverages prior to our arrival and even arranged for the staff to fix a wonderful Brazilian dinner for Christmas eve.

Upon our arrival the house and staff exceeded even our lofty expectations. The house is meticulously decorated and looks every bit and more the pictures and video on the website. It is roomy and spacious and was a perfect place for our family to meet and spend quality time together. So much better than any hotel could have been.

Denise and Marcia fixed us fantastic breakfasts each morning. Wonderful food with a touch of local fare as well. Christmas Eve dinner was wonderful also. The kitchen, dining room and library are all fantastic common areas where we were able to enjoy each other and experience the great hospitality of the staff. On top of all the food they cleaned the rooms daily and even did the laundry as part of the service. Try and get that from a hotel.

The location of the house is great. Only 3 blocks from Copacabana beach. An easy walk and interesting shops and establishments along the way. We were often forewarned about crime in the area, but we took the proper precautions and didn't have any problems. We spent some great time at the beach, and enjoying the nightlife of Copacabana and Ipanema which is a short drive away. New Years Eve on Copacabana beach is absolutely magic!

We also took two days from a tour guide name Carlos who was arranged through Michael and the staff. Carlos was great and showed us all the sites of the area while providing historical insight and context. We also got to see a favella which was very interesting.

All in all it was a magical trip. My 3 boys said it was the best Christmas and the best trip we have ever taken and we do a lot of traveling. Rio is a special place and this villa is the best way to enjoy the experience.

Mini-mansion in the heart of Rio

Review submitted: January 15, 2009   Date of arrival: September 1, 2008

This amazing property is a beautifully appointed, three-story home with a staff that really takes care of you. Our group was in Rio for a wedding and even people who lived there were amazed at our fabulous accommodations. The location is tucked away in a gated alley and once you open the front door, you are in a completely different world. We can't say enough good things about this property -- what you see in the pictures is absolutely accurate. And the location allows you to safely walk several blocks to the beach. The owner of the home stayed in touch with us from beginning to end and they went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect for us. Although we had an infant with us, we would not recommend this place for small children -- too many stone stairways and too many beautiful decorator items. Would highly recommend this property to those who appreciate the finer things.

Owners response: While this house may not be ideal for children - many families have stayed there and used one of the housemaids to babysit and families are certainly welcome as well as other groups..The owner is from a large family and likes making arrangements for group stays. The house looks exactly like the reviewer described but we can put up some of those decorator things to make the house kid-friendly. Although I have not stayed there - it seems like it works for all different sized groups and appears to be more fun than overly fancy.

Tranquility and Eloquence

Review submitted: January 14, 2009   Date of arrival: November 20, 2008

This has to be one the nicest places to stay and relax in. The home has a welcoming feel with each room as relaxing as wonderful as the next decorated with great detail and eloquence. The staff is friendly as well as respectful of each guests privacy. Being a cook back home the kitchen here in this villa would be the envy of anyone who likes to indulge in the culinary arts. The library is warm and relaxing place to read or enjoy a quiet moment. Each room has a distinctive personality that lends a cocoon of civility after a long day of travel or fun at the beach. The location is nicely tucked away on a private mew with a short walk to the beaches, shops and cafes. This is a definite place I will return to and will be recommending to all my friends. I give this villa a 10.
