Wonderful Beach House

This was the absolute BEST getaway! We had so much fun! We have been meeting friends at the coast for several years now, always staying in different rentals to see what is out there. This rental is the absolute perfect one!! We have already discussed renting this one yearly. The owner and property manager are both extremely friendly. The house was amazing. The back deck is 3 layers. The top give a beautiful view, the bottom a very relaxing swing, with boat lift and great place to fish. The main deck has a hot tub and lawn chairs. Excellent view, kids can fish while adults are in hot tub. Every bedroom has a full bathroom! WOW! So much fun, so roomy, perfect place for vacation. The kids had a blast fishing while we were grilling (on the awesome propane grill) and playing games.

Great little weekend

My family and rented the house for a long weekend. The house was very roomy and cozy. In the mornings we had our coffee on the deck in the afternoons we went to the beach witch was just minutes away. And in the evenings we made great dinners in the well equiped kitchen. My husband and I went on a kyak fishing trip right off of the homes dock. All in all we had a great relaxing weekend. I would recommend theis home to my friends.
Thanks

Renters Beware

Review submitted: March 12, 2012   Date of arrival: January 15, 2012

My wife and I decided to rent this property for three months based on an online advertisement. When we arrived we found a home in dire need of major maintenance. We were somewhat apprehensive but decided to give it a try. It did not take too long to decide that we could not stay in these conditions. We vacated the property in five days. We would have left sooner but because we have a dog, it took longer to find a pet friendly rental. Our dissatisfaction with this rental was based on a number of issues. We found the house was infested with cockroaches and red ants. In addition to this we found the following deficiencies. The wireless internet did not work; the gas grill was filthy and inoperable;a smoke alarm had been disabled; a towel rack in upper bathroom was hanging loose; there were gaps under the rear door which provided easy access to insects; exhaust fan in bathroom squealed when turned on; dishwasher was not secured to cabinet which caused it to tip when the door was opened; cupboard under the sink was rotting and filthy; furniture in the house was "garage sale" quality; ceramic tile floor was chipped and gouged; TVs were all outdated; carpets, dining room chairs and throw cushions were dirty; a livingroom lamp had an electrical short (I fixed it); the unit had a garage but on arrival we were told it was not available to us; the unit had no ironing board, no iron, no radio and no telephone.
We advised the owner of these deficiencies and his only response was that he would call an exterminator to get rid of the bugs. The owner refused to refund any portion of our rent payment, our cleaning allowance or even our refundable damage deposit.
When we were reviewing this property before agreeing to rent it we noticed that there was only one review of the property and it was submitted by the owner. I now understand why.

Owners response: I’ll start out by saying, I take every guests comments into consideration and I am open to criticism as this can only perfect our property and our policies. That being said, this review is full of false information. Our house is not infested with anything. I am contracted with an extermination company on the island and we are on a regular schedule with them. In addition to that when you voiced a concern that you had seen a roach, we had an exterminator there the very next day, no questions asked. The day you moved into our house, I had been using the wireless internet before you arrived and sat with you for some time to get your computer set up. At that time you mentioned that since arriving to Texas, you had had multiple issues with your computer and your email, this is not an issue with my house. There was some grease on the outside grill; even a grill that has been cleaned properly will still have some residual grease. To say that the furniture is “garage sale quality” is ludicrous, we just had the couch in the livingroom recovered (prior to your moving in) and the beds are all brand new. We showed you where the ironing board and the iron was when we did the walk through. We don’t advertise a garage.
When we met you and your wife, we spent more than 2 hours going through the house with you and setting your computer up. How is it that none of these items were brought to our attention during this time? If the house is in such poor condition, why didn’t you just say that this isn’t going to work out and we could have parted ways at that point? If I came into a house that I was renting and saw the things you have listed here, I wouldn’t decide to “give it a try” as you said. I don’t think anyone would. You stayed because the items you listed are simply not true. We refused to give you your pet deposit back because you had a very large dog in our house for the duration of your stay. I had even made an exception for you having the dog, as we are listed as a pet free community. You moved into the house in January (which means you must have reviewed the property prior to then); the review that I posted from one of our guests (which was written in our Guest Book) wasn’t submitted until February. Maybe next you could tell us about the 200 pound fish you caught off the dock, that would be a more acceptable lie.
We have had many renters since your stay and have had no issues. We stand by our property and we do everything possible to make all of our guests happy.
