'Portland Retreat' is the perfect name!
Review submitted: September 26, 2012 Date of arrival: August 10, 2012
My 'extended' immediate family just completed a 10-day stay at Portland Retreat - the perfect name for this modern tree-house retreat situated in a very nice, quiet section of (SW) Portland. Each of our 3 couples had their own bedroom and bathroom and enjoyed the open-design spacious kitchen, dining & living rooms and decks together. (The kitchen has a particularly good stock of wine glasses!) David was great to work with as well. The house is situated within walking distance of the arboretum's many woodland trails and served as an excellent home base - very much a tree-house 'escape' with all the amenities! Highly recommended.

Perfect home base for exploring Portland & beyond
Review submitted: September 26, 2012 Date of arrival: August 7, 2012
We traveled to Portland for a 10 day stay with our adult kids. This house was perfect for us. We had plenty of room for everyone to do their own thing and we were just a short ride from downtown which made it very convenient. We took several day trips to Mt. Hood and the coast and were so happy to come "home" and relax in the trees. Great House! Very clean and nice furnishings. Would definitely stay here again when in the Portland area.

Peaceful Luxury
Review submitted: September 26, 2012 Date of arrival: June 1, 2012
I am part of the same group of 4 ladies renting this house for 5 nights in May 2012. Since I was the one who made the booking, I was relieved and estatic at the same time to find the house in what appeared to be "brand new, never been lived in" condition and how my friends were equally impressed! David was absolutely fantastic and was always reachable and immediately took care of a few minor issues. Booking the reservation with David was a breeze too...he is a true professional! The house is located in a purely residential neighborhood and is tucked up a hill in the lush green trees. Downtown Portland is just a short 10 minute drive away and we never really had any problem finding parking. On several evenings, we opted to take a cab instead and the fare was still a reasonble $15-$20, one-way including tip. This luxurious 3 bedroom, 3 bath house was our perfect home away from home. Mahalo nui loa David for everything!

Like Living in a Tree House!
Review submitted: September 26, 2012 Date of arrival: May 24, 2012
We had a party of 4 and wanted to be able to have a place to hang out in the evenings so we can have a nice glass of wine, chat and laugh into the night. We wouldn't be able to do that in a hotel environment so our friend rented this house for our week stay in Portalnd. It was my first trip to Portland and I didn't quite know what to expect. Compared to all my other travels within the us, this was the best trip/place ever! The house was beautiful, clean and well stocked. It was in a very convenient location and we felt like we were living in a tree house. The view from the windows are the lush tree tops where squirrels run wild chasing one another from branch to branch. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, cookware and utensils. We loved loved loved staying in this house! The only downside of staying here was that we had to bring our own hairdryers. When you are serious shoppers like us, you want to minimize the weight in your luggage as much as possible. But it was well worth the sacrifice of lugging a hairdryer because in all other respects the house was just perfect. David was very accomodating and responsive. We really appreciated all his efforts to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable.

My family and I stated at the Retreat for a week in early June, and could not be more pleased. The location is sublime, and the home proper is not only comfortable, clean, and welcoming, but impeccably furnished and decorated. We were so impressed, in fact, that we have now shifted our Portland home search to the same general area. On top of it all, the owner is a friendly, approachable and extremely easy to work with. If I could give more stars, I would.
Recommended for: age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing, romantic getaway
Owners response:
Thank you for the kind words. Glad you are so pleased with the neighborhood, it really is nice up here.
Be sure to find and like us on facebook too!

Wonderful property! Amazing weekend
Review submitted: January 27, 2012 Date of arrival: December 1, 2011
My husband & I stayed at this amazing property the last time we were visiting Portland. We travel to the city often and typically we stay at a hotel, but after this we will never consider another place! The kitchen is simply amazing, the home is quiet & peaceful nestled in the woods and oh my gosh that kitchen!!! It was clean and well stocked. Restaurants and other amenities were very convenient, in fact we had a great dinner one night at Sylvan Steakhouse (very short drive).
Highly recommend!!

Luxury and Comfort rolled ever so perfectly ...
Review submitted: January 26, 2012 Date of arrival: November 1, 2011
Let me preface by saying that I have never been to Portland until this stay, but I have been to the best of places... La, NYC, San Fran, Chicago, Maui. This was one of the best experiences I have ever had. My bf and I have stayed in hotels in the past but have always been somewhat disappointed in accommodations, amenities, or overall location. With that being said, we decided to stay in a house this vacation and couldn't have asked for anything more.

Perfectly fit in the city but the fact that this home backs right into a forest made us feel like we were on our own excursion- with the excitement of the outdoors, excluding tents and backpacks but with the fun of the town only minutes from the front door.
I will definitely be back -- perhaps with a tribe of other city dweller and adventure seeking friends who value comfort and luxury as much as I do!
