Great place for a family vacation

Review submitted: April 10, 2012   Date of arrival: March 31, 2012

We found this great house for our week-long spring break in the Keys. I had thoroughly checked rates for all of the Keys, and this was by far the most reasonable place that met all of our needs for two adults and one teen (house, separate bedrooms, good location, reasonable price). It seemed too good to be true, but we were very happily rewarded.

We flew into Miami and rented a car to make the hour drive down to Key Largo. Make sure your car rental company provides a "Sun Pass" so you don't have to worry about the toll roads. We had never been the the Keys before, so we were quite surprised that the road is 100 miles long and it takes about 2.5 hours to drive to Key West. After spending a day in Key West, I am very glad that we had a house in Key Largo.

The house provided plenty of privacy with the two bedrooms. The back patio along the canal is wonderful, and a great place to have dinner. The house is immaculate and in a perfect location -- quiet yet convenient. The tile floors throughout make it very functional when returning wet and tired from a day on the water. Beware that internet service in the Keys is a bit unpredictable, so don't depend on it!

The VERY reasonable rent, along with the ability to eat at home, gave us the opportunity to do many fun activities that we otherwise could not have afforded. Many activities take off from the Sundowner dock just across the highway. We highly recommend Captain Sterling's "Flamingo Tour" -- you see a part of the Everglades rarely experienced by others. Skip the Alligator Farm, but definitely get out and snorkel! Everything is there -- just minutes from the house. After paying for a few adventures, the house will seem particularly inexpensive.

We had a trip of a lifetime -- and one that my son will talk about for years to come!

Pure Bliss

Review submitted: December 31, 2011   Date of arrival: December 17, 2011

We just returned from a great vacation at this wonderfully clean and relaxing home!
We shared this condo with our in-laws (we were a total of 4 adults) for one week.

This house on Key Largo offered – for us – the absolutely best location.
It is close to John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park (only about 2 miles up the road).
Centrally located on Key Largo, yet quiet.
And truly – this house is a stone’s throw from the main highway, so you don’t have to drive through neighborhoods for 15 minutes to get there. AND it is such a tranquil place: in a quiet street and a small waterway/canal belonging to the backyard. Immediate vacation feeling guaranteed!
We actually ended up not doing too much sightseeing, but truly and thoroughly enjoyed the house.

The owner was extremely helpful and assisted us in getting fishing rods and a BBQ.
Thus we started fishing right there from the dock that belongs to the house. Most of it was catch and release – but we even caught a couple of snappers that we had for dinner.
We had so much fun being right there on the water.
(I even often got up early in the morning, had a cup of tea, and started fishing right away – great way to wake up and start the day!)

The kitchen with all its amenities was clean and very easy to work in. – We did cook quite a bit.

However, if you enjoy good food that someone else prepares for you, very close by are e.g.:
“Sundowners” – awesome restaurant with great setting (food is not cheap here, but it is excellent and you can walk there!!))
“The Marlin” – if you like Cuban food, Cuban sandwiches e.g., there is probably no better place to go

As well, in this area are lots of companies offering snorkeling / diving, bait and tackle shops are around, supermarkets are just a short drive away, coin laundry is just up the road.
This property is close to all things you might need.

I should also not forget to mention the evenings:
Of course, there is TV.
However, we sat on the porch every evening having dinner and long conversations and enjoying ourselves and the view out to the waterway with its lights.

Finally, our check-out was pretty quick, and deposit was returned to us promptly.

A big THANK YOU to the owner with providing us with a great, almost dream-like vacation!

Key Largo Getaway

Review submitted: June 8, 2011   Date of arrival: May 19, 2011

We spent a week at this beautiful home located on the canal with boat access. The owners were very responive to our short notice request and easy to work with. The home is pristine with comfortable beds. The primarily owner occupied neighborhood is quite and family oriented. The photos attracted us initially, however upon our arrival we discovered what a gem this location really is. The location was very convienent to stores, a variety of restaurants featuring live music, and SCUBA diving. Being able to sit outside on the porch overlooking the canal to experience the sunrise or just do some reading was great. We brought our bicycles and rode everywhere unless we were going diving. The Keys are very bicycle friendly and is best way to get around especially to the very popular restaurants just a few blocks up the street for dinner and a sunset. We SCUBA dive and this location provides a number of options to make arrangements. We find staying in private residences the most comfortable and affordable way to travel. Even if our travel wasn't during a "deal" time, this property is much more affordable then local hotels and suites. We highly recommend this location and plan to return as soon as possible.

Fantastic Rental

Review submitted: May 16, 2011   Date of arrival: April 23, 2011

We could not have picked a better vacation rental. Very clean and well kept. Everything was in perfect working order. We brought a boat and it was so convenient to use the boat ramp. The dock was in excellent condition. We ate most of our meals on the porch which was spacious and clean. Owners were a pleasure to work with. The rental looks exactly like the pictures. Large yard was great for storing the boat trailer. Easy access to the pass. Property well lit at night and located in a very nice area of Key Largo. We will definitely stay there again. Our deposit was promptly returned upon inspection of the house. We would recommend this to anyone wishing to book a rental in the Key Largo area. Both bedrooms were roomy and comfortable.
