You'll find almost anything you require at the Forest Haus. The kitchen is full equipped with everything you'd need, from dishes and utensils to small appliances. If you prefer to cook outdoors, there is a charcoal grill for your use. All linens are supplied, even beach towels if you want to go to the lake or down to the creek. Speaking of the creek, while the house isn't directly on it, it is only a two minute walk away, and you're welcome to wade up and down stream or try your hand at fishing. There are a couple of poles at the cabin. If you prefer to hike, there are several options in the immediate vicinity of the house. Don't know what to do on your vacation? You'll find a book packed with helpful information and suggestions. If rain keeps you from enjoying the outdoors, don't worry, the house has two televisions with satellite tv and dvd players, wi-fi access, a reading library, movie library, and games.
activities and attractions in Robbinsville Smoky Mountains
This area of the Smoky Mountains offers so many different things to do. At the cabin, you can wade or fish in the stream, hike up the mountain, or just relax in the hammock with a good book.
The cabin is conveniently located near the Tail of the Dragon, if you enjoy driving. The Appalachian Trail crosses Yellow Creek Road a few miles away from the cabin. The Joyce Kilmer National Forest is a short drive away, and offers beautiful hikes through the woods. We are located between Lakes Santeelah and Fontana, near the Nantahala Outdoor Center for white-water rafting. For a scenic drive, the Cherohala Skyline is nearby. If the weather's warm enough, Bryson City is about 45 minutes away and offers tubing down Deep Creek. If tubing's not your thing, the Great Smoky Mountains Railway can be caught in Bryson City too.
Cherokee and the entrance to the Smoky Mountains National Park are less than an hour from the cabin.
A little longer drive will take you to Pigeon Forge - Dollywood - or Gatlinburg to the northwest and the Biltmore Estate or Asheville, NC to the east.
