activities and attractions in Robbinsville Smoky Mountains

This area of the Smoky Mountains offers so many different things to do. At the cabin, you can wade or fish in the stream, hike up the mountain, or just relax in the hammock with a good book.

The cabin is conveniently located near the Tail of the Dragon, if you enjoy driving. The Appalachian Trail crosses Yellow Creek Road a few miles away from the cabin. The Joyce Kilmer National Forest is a short drive away, and offers beautiful hikes through the woods. We are located between Lakes Santeelah and Fontana, near the Nantahala Outdoor Center for white-water rafting. For a scenic drive, the Cherohala Skyline is nearby. If the weather's warm enough, Bryson City is about 45 minutes away and offers tubing down Deep Creek. If tubing's not your thing, the Great Smoky Mountains Railway can be caught in Bryson City too.

Cherokee and the entrance to the Smoky Mountains National Park are less than an hour from the cabin.

A little longer drive will take you to Pigeon Forge - Dollywood - or Gatlinburg to the northwest and the Biltmore Estate or Asheville, NC to the east.

Family Vacation of a Lifetime!

Sandy Neck Girl (West Barnstable, MA, USA)
Review submitted: June 25, 2012   Date of arrival: July 25, 2011

We drove down to this Smoky Mountain oasis from Cape Cod, MA - stopping to camp at Shenandoah National Park on our way. Our two young daughters delighted in rinsing a few days of camping stink off of themselves in the glorious master jacuzzi tub upon arrival! This cabin feels like a home away from home and offers everything you could need to relax and explore the gorgeous surroundings. My husband took the girls down to the creek for some fishing one morning, we enjoyed several dips in the nearby lake (surrounded with mountain views) and drove along the famous Tail of the Dragon. We also discovered tubing rivers and encountered endless wildlife sightings. An afternoon of lunch and shopping in Bryson City was great fun. The highlight of the trip was white water rafting down the Nantahala River with my husband.

There is SO much to do in the area and having this cabin as home base during our stay could not have been more perfect. We absolutely loved it and will most definitely return. It was private, quiet, beautifully built/furnished, air conditioned, had a washer/dryer (which we desperately needed) but is also just a quick drive away from Robinsville where there was a grocery store and everything else you could need. We had absolutely no problems and found the owner delightful to work with.

Peaceful and charming mountain cottage

Rflg8r (Gainesville, FL, USA)
Review submitted: June 23, 2012   Date of arrival: May 21, 2012

I have had the pleasure of staying at this property with my family numerous times. It is beautiful, comfortable, and convenient to many of the area activities. The kitchen is outfitted with everything you need to make wonderful family meals, the beds are cozy and comfortable, and the surroundings are so relaxing. The trout stream is fun for the kids to splash in, and there are some great short hikes right outside the door. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a fairly short drive away, as is Lake Santeelah, Lake Fontana, the Joyce Kilmer Memorial forest (which is absolutely beautiful!), and several quaint little towns like Sylva and Dillsboro.

Be prepared to unplug, unwind, and reset at this charming Forest Haus!
