The perfect place to call home in Canada

Review submitted: August 24, 2014   Date of arrival: August 8, 2014

Arriving in Canada, we went straight to this cute suburban home in Montreal. The house was beyond what we were expecting. It was furnished with modern furniture and stocked with all the supplies and appliances you might need for your stay. It made us feel completely at home but in the most luxurious way!The house was spotless and stocked with fresh linens and supplies as well. Our family of 6 stayed comfortably there and it was a relief to be able to come home to a cozy and roomy area after a day of adventuring the city. I am so glad we stayed here instead of a cramped hotel room (spaces in Montreal are not extremely kind to big families). The local metro station is located just down the street to take you to the city which is ten minutes away. If you wanted, you could also walk or bike to local stores and restaurants. Be sure to take advantage of the local restaurant and attractions in the area. The food scene is amazing! Hang's home is near trendy restaurants and stores where locals hangout at the end of the day. They have all the greatest bakeries, charcuteries, cafes and so much more! Montreal nightlife is great. Everyone was very friendly there and we just felt at home. If we had any issues (rarely any), Hang and her family had no problem coming to our rescue. They made sure to fix anything to our liking and that we were entertained. She even put in a computer for us to use. I thought that was considerate of her to do that. We were able to map out the city and track down food trucks before venturing out (we had no cell service or data while we were out). We worried about being in contact with family but Hang allowed us to use her wifi and computer. We had no issues with the neighborhood. It was quiet and beautiful! (nice park across the street where locals go for runs and walk dogs). We had our own reserved parking spot so there was no fighting for open spaces. I have never met any owner that was so willing to go out of her way to make sure we were comfortable. She and her father are so kind and treated us like we were family. That's Canadian hospitality right there! This just made our stay in Canada that much more memorable and we cannot wait to visit again. I would not stay anywhere else but in the comfort of Hang's home in Montreal!

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, sight seeing, tourists without a car

Owners response: What a lovely review!

I am glad that the location worked out so well for your family. It is great to hear that your family's first trip to Montreal is so enjoyable.

Please remember us next time when you want to revisit Montreal.

nice location

Review submitted: July 23, 2014   Date of arrival: July 17, 2014

We arrived in the afternoon, and because the streets are one-way, it was a bit confusing to find the parking spot. The parking spot was tight for our minivan. The apartment's layout is nice and I can see Hang put some thought into the details, which was much appreciated as I have been to many rentals and this was one of the best in that regard. She even has a desktop available for use--how nice is that? The location is nice as well, especially for those taking public transit. The apartment is very clean and pleasantly decorated, with good-quality appliances! That means a lot to people like us. After we settled down, I smelled cigarette smoke in the backroom so I let Hang know and within 10 minutes, she was there to check it out for me. It was not very strong but because we have mild allergies, I was concerned initially. We couldn't find the source for it, since it wasn't coming from outside and after the evening, the smell went away. It came back for a couple of hours each day during our stay. The outside had no odor the entire time, so I think it might be other tenants. Our main issue with the stay was the noise, though. We could hear people talking from the street, cars and buses passing by, and the upstairs tenant walked around after 1 am, which would not have been a problem had the floor not creaked so loudly with every step. The A/C didn't help much. I am a light sleeper, so I use earplugs and even then I was woken up by the noise. The neighborhood is relatively quiet otherwise, but we did hear what we thought to be a couple of gun shots once. It didn't repeat during our stay. I would recommend this place for adults and families with older children.

Recommended for: age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing, tourists without a car

Owners response: Thanks Anna for taking care of our house and your time to share your experience with other travelers.

As we have discussed, the gun shot noise that you heard is due to the International Firework Competition that is held between June and August. It happens every Wednesday and Saturday night between 10pm and 10:30pm. Practices and preparations for the competition usually take places a day earlier.

About the smell of the cigarette smoke, I have asked the upstairs tenant to ask her friends not to smoke in the house in case that can create an allergy problem as someone like you.

I understand your noise issue since I am a light sleeper myself. Since the house is so quite at night, the hardwood floor echos more when it creaks. I will try to put a carpet down in the her hallway to help future traveler like you.

Once again, thank you for staying with us.

Felt like home!

Review submitted: July 11, 2014   Date of arrival: June 30, 2014

The location was so convenient with all of our activities. The metro down the street was spot on and allowed us to move freely and return after a full days activity without walking too much! The home was so clean and simple; a great place to spend our vacation for a family of six. Hang was super and accommodating. Oh and there is a parking spot for those who stay which was nice as we didn't have to struggle with parking when we used our auto. Recommend this home and owner to all.

Owners response: We are glad that you have enjoyed your stay at our house. Thanks Sylvette for taking care of our house as your own.
