Best all around rental in LP

John D (New York, NY)
Review submitted: August 5, 2012   Date of arrival: June 21, 2012

My family has been visiting Lake Placid every year for over a decade, and this is by far the best place we've stayed.

The house itself is a gem. It has genuine Adirondack charm (not overdone), is modern and incredibly immaculate. Bedrooms are all spacious, and there are enough bathrooms to avoid any logjams when all our guests (three families in all, with teens) would shower before dinner. Despite the ample size of the house, the layout is superb. It feels like home when you are hanging out in the kitchen/dining room/great room area whether it was a packed house or just a few of us.

We made frequent use of the deck, and the pool table in the game room. Note that if you have a large group and prefer some separation, the ground floor has a small rec room adjacent to the pool table. This worked out well for us - the teens that wanted to stay up late could carry on there without disturbing those sleeping one and two stories above.

The location is as stellar as the house. The property itself is private and beautiful. Lake Placid is just across the road, and from either entrance (front or back), it is a short walk (10 minutes) to many of the places we frequent --- the Lake Placid Marina, the Cottage, the Interlacken Inn, and the loop around Mirror Lake. Only time we needed the car was to go to different trail heads nearby, or if we went to the south end of Mirror Lake for dinner at night.

This was a perfect place for a family vacation. We'll be back.

Serenity now!!

Cedar Lodge was absolutely stunning. We traveled with a 4 yr old and found Lake Placid to be an extremely family-friendly destination. LOTS of activities to keep everyone busy – swimming, kayaking / canoeing, golf, hiking trails (everywhere), biking, horseback riding, summer concert series, shopping...there’s always something to do! I love the drive into LP...seeing the ski jump on the horizon, passing rivers & lakes at every turn, and enjoying the natural beauty of the ADK's. The town is quaint and inviting, and our accommodations were simply magnificent. Steve and Nancy have impeccable taste and couldn’t have been more gracious. Their home is well appointed and located on a quiet street within walking distance to Lake Placid. From the moment you walk in the front door – you are overwhelmed by the charm and attention to detail. Steve was extremely responsive, easy to work with, and has GREAT recommendations for daytime and night-time activities. Definitely grab his ear!

Cedar Lodge is a true Lake Placid Mountain House with all the amenities. Custom woodwork everywhere (I loved the natural wood / birch railings), fully equipped designer kitchen that can easily accommodate larger families, and a cozy living room that offers great light for reading and family activities. My favorite spot was the private back deck – where you go to relax with a cold Ubu or Sierra. Bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious and clean, decorated perfectly, and we slept like royalty in the master bedroom. We are definitely coming back –thank you again for a wonderful stay.

Fabulous Home for a Vacation in The Adirondack

PeterH (Annandale, NJ, USA)
Review submitted: July 15, 2012   Date of arrival: June 28, 2012

What a great house and super location. From the pictures we were concerned about having enough space for our large family,(7 adults and 5 children). The rooms are generous in size and the layout gave everyone enough space to feel at home. Having the extra bathrooms came in handy quite often. With all the so called "CHEFS" in the family, the oversized kitchen gave everyone room to work on their specialty.
The proximity to town and resturants was a big help for the few older folks in the croud. A relaxing walk to town after a great dinner on the large deck was what we all needed. Now the ice cream we could have done with out. We are already plannning our next visit to the Lake Placid area and will surely be using this house again. Enjoy !!!!
