Only one home gets the honor of being the Jewel of Borrego and it is this one ... it is located right across the street from the legendary De Anza Golf Course. There is simply nothing comparable. It`s elegance and authenticity to the Southwest style is amazing. Here is a home that will make you smile from the moment you arrive. The pictures are great, but nothing compares to being there in person. The desert beauty , and quietness, and peacefulness is unsurpassed. What a treat to get away from the craziness and crowdedness of the city to this lovely desert setting. Seeing this awesome home from the outside you think wow it couldn`t get any better than this on the inside, but it does!

Even the drive into Borrego Springs will take your breath away, with desert views in every direction as far as one can see ... even a valley area that seems to go on forever while driving into and out of the area. As you are driving up to and onto the property you`ll gasp at the beauty of the architecture of this amazing home. It is located across the street from the legendary De Anza Golf Course. There is simply nothing comparable. It`s elegance and authenticity to the Southwest style is amazing. Here is a home that will make you smile from the moment you arrive. Upon entering the home you view the dining room, the kitchen, and the the large, lovely living room with its 16 foot high logged-beamed ceilings with nice large windows for wonderful views of the desert. There is a corner fireplace in the living room, too. The living room has a flat screen TV. There are several individual conversation areas. The kitchen is big with a large island in the center of it and it is fully stocked.

The main house contains one bedroom - the master bedroom with a master bathroom. This room has a ceiling that is two stories high, with small windows to view the mountains and the desert sky from the bed. In addition to other windows, including doors leading out to the courtyard. It has a flat screen TV and large desk if you feel like reading or writing.

Beyond the large 200 year old Peruvian doors at the front of the home, there is a wonderful courtyard with a fountain and two casitas (separate bedrooms) one has a king bed, the other a queen bed - and both casitas have large half bathrooms). There are 2 futons, too. The casitas are lovely, roomy and relaxing. You can rent just the house by itself, and/or the casitas. When you are inside the courtyard area you almost feel as if you are in a wonderful villa in another country. The views of this desert area are amazing everywhere you look.

Continuing further into the courtyard area which contains a fountain in the center of it, and chairs to sit and relax in, there is a set of double doors leading out to the pool and hot tub area. Not only is the pool area great for the daytime, but it is a wonderful area to sit around and relax at night and gaze at the stars. Borrego Springs has been designated as a dark sky comunity - meaning no city light pollution - making the view of the stars beyond comparion. It`s definitely much better than a trip to the observatory!

Anza Borrego Desert State Park is California's Largest State Park.  It's sits on 600,000 acres of flat canyons and badlands.  It's a snowbird's paradise.  Home to 4 scenic golf courses, one of which you have golfing privileges to 'De Anza Country Club' with the rental of 'Jewel of Borrego'.  Beautiful desert trails, and awesome off-roading adventures are available.  Take the time to stop by the visitors center just above town to find out about the local flora and fauna, take in a geology lesson, or enjoy a short stroll to the desert pupfish pond.  These pupfish are an endangered species.  Borrego Palm Canyon is one of the area's most popular hikes - it's 3 miles round trip, takes about 2 hours to do, starts at the Visitor's Center, and ends at a palm oasis.  You might even see some of the desert's native big horn sheep.  It's also home to rare elephant trees.  Don't miss the unique metal life-size sculptures of Ricardo Breceda, they are scattered along 3 square miles of the Galleta Meadows Estates, which sits along Borrego Springs Road.  Cycling is a great way to see the desert and there are rental places from which to get them.  For 4-Wheeling adventures check out Octillo Wells, Blair Valley, Split Valley and Sheep Canyon.
