Beautiful View of Grandfather Mountain

Lewdog Lodge is located in a rhododendron forest close to Grandfather Mountain & the Blue Ridge Parkway.  It is very private & peaceful nestled in with large hardwoods, rhododendrons & mountain laurel.  It has a spectacular view of Grandfather Mtn. from the deck upstairs & downstairs as well as inside the cabin.  We have a 180 degree view of the mountains that surround us. 

 Everything you need to have a wonderful time is right here at the cabin.  It has recently been renovated with all modern kitchen & bathrooms.  Lewdog Lodge is conveniently located to everything the high country has to offer.  We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!

Fully equiped kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, stove/oven, toaster, blender, mixer, refrigerator w/icemaker, dishes, pots&pans, silverware, utensils.  Charcoal grill outside on deck.  2 full baths, 1 upstairs & l downstairs.  King size bed upstairs bedroom.  Full size bed & bunkbeds downstairs bedroom.

Cable TV, WIFI internet, CD player, ipod speakers, DVD player.  Puzzles & games & movies.  Deck with 6 chairs & 2 tables.  Deck downstairs w/ chairs.  Eat inside or out.  2 tables inside, 1 in kitchen, 1 in dining room.

Activities close by include:  Hiking, fishing, ziplining, biking, rock climbing, wildlife park, gardens, golfing, rafting, antiquing, shopping, exploring neat mountain towns, swimming in cold mountain streams, snow skiing, snow boarding, snow tubing, sledding, cross country skiing, etc.

 Less than 5 minutes to Grandfather Mtn. entrance.  10 minutes to the Blue Ridge Parkway.  15 minute drive from Banner Elk, Sugar Mtn., Beech Mtn., Crossnore.   20 to 30 minute drive from Valle Crucis, Boone, Blowing Rock, Linville Caverns, Linville Falls, Linville Gorge, Tweetsie Railroad, Southern Highland Craft Guild on the Blue Ridge Parkway, several ziplines. etc. 

On the weekends in the summer & fall, there are arts & crafts & bluegrass festivals close by.  Excellent restaurants from expensive to fast food within 5 to 15 minutes.  Grocery stores 5 minutes.  There are lots of wonderful things to do including just hanging out on the deck & watching the changing weather on Grandfather Mtn.

So relaxing!

My husband and I have stayed at Lewdog Lodge twice now and plan on returning as often as possible. This is great place to just relax and unwind. The view is wonderful and it is such a quite, peaceful little place. The first time we were there in the fall and enjoyed the changing colors. It was a great location for going out and exploring, whether driving on the Blue Ridge, seeing Grandfather Mountain, hiking or kicking around the small towns nearby. The second time we stayed in and watched it snow with a nice cozy fire. Judy is great to work with. Everything is as she states only nicer. We feel very much at home here. I would recommend this to a couple or small family group. I just feel a little selfish in hoping that it is available next time I want to come.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, sight seeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway

A SLICE OF HEAVEN

Selfishly, I would like to say that this was the worst joint I ever stayed in just so nobody else would rent it and we would have it all to ourselves. Seriously, even being long time friends with the owners, it was beyond our wildest dreams. I may never sleep on the ground again in Linville Gorge knowing this is so nearby! This place had "special' meaning to us which made our experience even greater. We arrived at dusk just in time to watch the sun set on Grandfather Mountain then enjoy the beautiful stars. We built a fire (firelog actually) and enjoyed a glass of wine in the peaceful setting along with the glorious smell of all the rhododendrons which envelope the house. We enjoyed a candle light dinner, then retired on the couch and just enjoyed being light years away from stress.
We read through magazines about the area then explored ever nook and cranny in the area. I could have spent days in a couple of the antique malls alone. There were many dining spots from dives to upscale, but our favorite meal came right off the grill on the deck. We do not have to ever look for another cabin to stay in. Lewdog Lounge will forever be our favorite spot. A little piece of heaven only a few hours away, but worth the trip no matter where you live!

Recommended for: age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway

Great break from the summer heat

We were looking for a way to beat the summer heat. Lewdog Lodge provided the perfect escape for our family of six. The comfortable, cozy lodge is quiet, set beautifully in the Blue Ridge mountains. Outstanding view of Grandfather Mountiain from the deck and not far from Linville Falls, and Blow Rock, NC. We did a couple of hikes (Linville Falls and Linville Wilderness Area) and enjoyed them both. A drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway is a must!

Recommended for: adventure seekers, girls getaway, sight seeing, romantic getaway
