traveler reviews for this dandridge cottage rental

Great central location!

Mountain Lover (New Orleans, LA)
Review submitted: May 17, 2013   Date of arrival: May 4, 2013

My husband and I spent the week using the cottage as a central location while looking for a new place to live. We went from Paris, TN to Hickory, NC---we drove over 3,000 miles in just a week! The location kept us away from the busy traffic in Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Knoxville, and made it easy for us to make day trips to all the cities we are interested in.

Mark and Charlotte couldn't be nicer, and their boys are as cute as cute can be!

The cottage was perfect for us and our dogs, but it is not a Smoky Mountain cabin in the woods! It's a sweet, quiet cottage surrounded by farmland and cows. It's a great way to get away from it all--country style!

Thank you Mark and Charlotte for having exactly what we needed!

Rest and Relaxation Destination

Paula M (Weeki Wachee, FL USA)
Review submitted: October 9, 2012   Date of arrival: September 27, 2012

Hello -

If you are looking for a vacation destination in the middle of tons of tourist attractions, this is not the place for you. If, however, you want to get away from the crowds, traffic, noise of the city, look no further. The Haveleys are very gracious hosts. Even though the cottage is beside their home, we had plenty of privacy. We found this cottage to be just what we needed for a restful week in the Tennessee countryside. The accomodations were clean, and perfect for our needs. Most mornings and evenings we found ourselves enjoying the large back porch that overlooked the back yard, and adjoining pasture with grazing cattle - - and beyond that a huge foothill with a tapestry of trees beginning to change color.

We brought our two dogs,(Shih Tzus),with us and they loved exploring
the two fenced areas and thought the back pasture "Cow Show" was a daily feature just for them.

We picked the week that would allow us to attend the Scotts - Irish Festival in Dandridge, and we also enjoyed boating on nearby Douglas Lake, and visiting the Original General Store and Museum for the Bush Family (Bush's Baked Beans). Pigeon Forge and Sevierville were about 30 minutes away, so it was easy to drive over to see some of the shows, visit the outlets, and enjoy the Craft Festival that was taking place near the Old Mill in Pigeon Forge. Being from Florida we especially enjoyed eating at Joe's Crab Shack in Sevierville, and shopping at the Apple Barn for home made taffy, apple butter, and other goodies that are hard to find in the Sunshine State.

We would highly recommend this cottage to small families or couples just wanting to relax, rest, and enjoy the beauty of the hills away from the hustle and bustle of things. We really appreciate being able to bring our two dogs along with us. It was their first "vacation", and I can truly say that they had as much fun as we did on this trip.

If you are considering a Tennessee vacation for some rest and relaxation, you would not regret it if you chose this cottage.

Awesome Vacation

rblitzen68 (Fond du Lac, WI)
Review submitted: August 7, 2012   Date of arrival: July 29, 2012

This was one of the most enjoyable vacations we have experienced. Our cabin was very quaint and cute. Very accomidating for our needs. Super clean and our hosts were very friendly. I would recommend this for anyone who wants to get away from it all, but still be within an hour of State and National parks as well as Knoxville's urban flair. Thank you again for your most excellent hospitality.

Owners response: It was a pleasure having you and thanks for the nice reference.

The cottage is such a cool get-a-way for all ages, and I really enjoy facilitating wonderful visits to Dumplin Valley in beautiful East Tn.

While not fancy, I promise a clean and comfortable place with lots of amenities, very private, yet close to so many great things in the region. Prices are affordable and doggies welcome too.
