activities and attractions in Sebastian Atlantic Coast Central

Right in the heart of the Treasure Coast, between Melbourne and Vero Beach, is the City of Sebastian; Florida's best kept secret.

Recognized as the home of Pelican Island, Sebastian holds the first designated wildlife refuge in the United States.  Incorporated in 1924 as the Town of Sebastian, the current population is approximately 22,000 people and growing.

While Sebastian boasts of our beautiful parks, public and private "A" rated schools, and a year round average temperature of 73.4 degrees, the real beauty of Sebastian is in the unobstructed postcard views of the Intra-coastal waterway in the Indian River Lagoon.

These breathtaking views of the natural beauty of Sebastian can hardly be described. Sebastian is full of shops and restaurants, churches, and within close proximity to the Atlantic beaches.  We host several city festivals a year, monthly arts and crafts shows, and concerts in the park.

Relax on the beaches, play a round of golf, explore the state and county parks, or join the surfers from all over the world to ride the huge swells at the Sebastian River Inlet State Park.

Enjoy the famous snook and redfish fishing known to Sebastian or take in the spectacular views from up above and skydive with Skydive Sebastian!  All this and more right here in Sebastian.

Home Sweet Home

Review submitted: April 16, 2014   Date of arrival: April 12, 2014

I am an artist and a writer and I am visiting the east coast of Florida teaching at the Brevard Achievement Center in Rockledge. Not wanting to stay where I was teaching I opted to stay in the quaint little town of Sebastian, about 50 minutes south of my teaching gig. I can't tell you how happy I was when I walked through the front door of the Little Red House on US1. The charm of this old house is immediate with the comfy wooden rockers on it's wide front porch, the rack of ancient National Geographics in their custom built shelf in the living room and the beautiful art and decor in this owner designed 102 year old home. You can only imagine the great conversations that occurred in this home back in the day when it was the first library for children in this historic riverside village.
I felt comfortable as soon as I walked into the house and when I walked upstairs I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. My host enlightened me that there was a train track out back but the rare sound of the trains just added to the historic ambiance of the place.
Not only was the house wonderful, but the location is incredible. It's a short block to the river where you can stroll down the river walk enjoying the natural environment or find all kinds of entertainment, a great dinner or a cool cocktail. Everything from nationally known Blues Bands at Earl's Hideaway, or a great lunch at the casual little Tiki Bar at the end of the street, and the historic state endorsed working waterfront where you can watch commercial fisherman hone their fishing skills. The location is fantastic. You can walk to everything.
The little Red Bungalow was exactly what I was looking for. A relaxing comfortable home to stretch out and enjoy while I was away from my own home. Thank you LIsanne and Richard. I'll be back!

House is between railroad tracks and main road.
Up to six trains per night blowing the whistle and the house shakes.
Main road is very busy and very very noisy. We could not sleep at all.
If you bring a dog never let him out or it will be killed on the road.
Beds are very small. You will never fit 4 people.
We had to cut our stay a week short with no refund. We are supposed to still be there but we are back in NY where it is 10 degrees and snowing.
I cannot recommend this place for anyone but very deep sleepers.
