vacation rental description

Our Bunting Blue is a fully furnished 2 bedroom house on 3.4 acres with a dock and lake frontage on Hosmer Pond. Included in the rental is: WiFi, Satellite, Utilities and 2 Pamlico 100 kayaks. The house is across the lake from the Camden Snow Bowl (where you can ski with a view of the ocean), which is Camden's recreation center: skiing, tubing, tennis, hiking, mountain biking and home of the National Toboggan Championships.

The house is less than a 5 min drive from several other hikes (Bald Rock, Fernald's Neck, Maiden's Cliff, Mt.Battie and Beech Hill Preserve), 3 miles from downtown Camden, surrounding the gorgeous Camden Harbor; with fine dining, casual dining, shopping, Schooner sailing and more, 3 miles from Laite Beach and 2 miles from the Goose River Golf Club. We are only 10 miles from downtown Rockland, Maine which is home to the Blues Festival and the Lobster festival. Rockland also has a beautiful harbor with the Breakwater lighthouse, which is a historic lighthouse at the end of a lovely walk across the 7/8 mile long breakwater.

There are two bedrooms in the house, each with a queen sized bed. The other rooms are: a bathroom, kitchen, dining room, living room with a sofa sleeper, and reading nook with a futon. There is also an enclosed porch and a large outdoor deck.

Because we are dogs lovers ourselves, we do allow house-trained dogs, with a security deposit.

In Maine there is a 7% sales tax on vacation rentals, and we also charge a $75.00 cleaning fee.

Awesome rental home, and great value for the money. Is even better than expected. Will refer this home to others and hopefully will return here for years to come. Convenient to lovely Camden, but location cuts off a lot of summer traffic!

Such a comfortable place

Review submitted: August 1, 2014   Date of arrival: July 19, 2014

We had a wonderful time here! There were five people in our party (two different families), and each of us was totally satisfied with our stay. The kitchen was pretty well supplied, bathroom well stocked with towels (I kid you not--fluffy and fresh-smelling), dining table was big enough for us all to sit comfortably together, and the grill worked great! Owners also supplied kayak and canoe for us, as well as leaving a few well-chosen games for evening amusement. Not sure if TV works, because we never turned it on; yes, it easily became one of THOSE kinds of vacations. Location was great for our purposes: we tooled around town some days, visited area wineries and breweries, ate lots of blueberry stuff (ice cream and pancakes especially), grilled dinner out on the deck, and stared at the lovely Penobscot Bay. We also drove out for a day hike to Sears Island (where we found handfuls of wild raspberries begging to be eaten), went down to Boothbay Harbor for a whale watching tour, and spent a lot of time just sitting around. It was a lovely week! Owners were very responsive and responsible, and they went out of their way to help us have a great time. Two of our party went kayaking in the pond and said it was great (evening), and the frogs kept us company at night. And the stars--go out on the deck at night and enjoy! Because the nights are so quiet, on work days I turned on the fan in our room early in the morning--the traffic noise, though slight, was comparatively jarring and woke me up, but I'm a light sleeper (no one else seemed to notice). There was no morning when we woke up unhappy to be there.
