On chilly nights, share family tales as you huddle around the unique, cast iron stove. Or, head upstairs to the loft with your DVDs where you can enjoy a flick from the comfort of one of six, squishy beanbag chairs. And don't forget your star charts! Through the telescope in the loft, you can enjoy a starry sky uncompromised by city lights. Evenings are also a good time to grab the marshmallows and head out to the fire pit for some campfire fun!

Meals are an important part of a vacation experience, and Dawn Drive's open kitchen makes them easy. Along with the stove, fridge, microwave and coffeemaker you'd expect in a great getaway like this, you'll find plenty of pots, pans, dinnerware, and cutlery. Whether it's pancakes or pot roast your chef is serving up, settle into the cushioned chairs around the dining table with room for six. Five more can cozy up to the counter on stools. Dawn Drive has two bedrooms, one with a king bed, the other a queen. There's a crib for the baby and access to the upper deck where Mom or Dad can slip out for a breath of fresh air! Toddlers have a bed just right for them too, and the sofa folds out for that extra person. The main bathroom is charming and continues the rustic theme with rough-hewn walls, molding, and cabin-type fixtures. There's also a half-bath.

With Cascade Lake on three sides, Dawn Drive is an anglers' boaters' paradise! In season, fish for salmon, steelhead, rainbow trout, bass, catfish or perch. Boat owners will find numerous places to launch. Plenty of opportunities on dry land as well: Hikers have their choice of one-day or multiple-day trails in Ponderosa State Park or Cascade State Park (14 miles to the north) and Cascade State Park (16 miles to the south). There are 8 golf courses within 3 and 14 miles from the center of Donnelly. Osprey Meadows Resort (3 miles away) is the closest. Jug Mountain and McCall are within 9 miles. Cascade and Whitetail are the farthest at 14 miles.

Huckleberries thrive in the cool climate around Donnelly. Residents celebrate this abundant fruit with a festival, held the beginning of August when the plump berries are at their ripest. There's music in Donnelly too. Come to nearby, historic Roseberry in July and take part in the Music Festival and Arts and Crafts Faire.
