The River House in Smithville

Come relax at the River House, our beautiful two-story cabin with breathtaking views of the river.  This tranquil getaway is located on the banks of the Colorado, just minutes from historic downtown Smithville, Texas. 

After you've napped on the deck, walk down through our small pecan orchard and enjoy private access to the river.  Fish from the banks, or wade in and go swimming, tubing, kayaking or canoeing.  In the evening, you'll have a front row seat for our lovely Texas sunsets and starry nights.  For a change of pace, stroll down Main Street and check out all the wonderful antique shops and restaurants nearby.

Many films are shot in Smithville, including Sandra Bullock's Hope Floats, as well as Tree of Life, starring Brad Pitt and Sean Penn.  Take a tour of all the featured locations throughout town, then come home and browse through our extensive video library. 

The River House is also a great destination for birdwatchers.  Come discover the many species of birds that live on the banks of the Colorado.  If you're there at the right time of year, you may be lucky enough to see our family of bald eagles!

During your visit, you'll enjoy the best of both worlds: peaceful, easy country living with all the modern conveniences. 

This spacious four-bedroom, two-bath house has all the comforts of home, including WiFi and HD TV.  We also have a sunny study upstairs with its own private balcony.  The master bedroom on the first floor has a connecting bathroom that also leads into the main living area.  Upstairs, you'll find the three additional bedrooms, sunroom and separate bath. We have a fully equipped kitchen and all linens are included. 

Canoeing, kayaking, birdwatching, fishing, antiquing, bike riding, swimming, Bastrop and Buescher State parks, golf.

Base rate is $175 per night, double occupancy, and $20 per night for each additional guest.  Weekly rate starts at $1100 per week.

Well behaved dogs are welcome for $15 per dog, per night, plus an additional $35 pet cleaning fee.

We have a two night minimum, and three night minimum during holidays and special events.

50% deposit to hold a reservation.

$50 cleaning fee.

13% hotel tax.
