As you enter the gates of Casa de Lucia you will immediately feel the tranquility and peace that this home offers. The front garden has a dramatic view of the mountains and is landscaped with green grass, palm trees, desert plants and brilliant bougainvillea blooms that form an archway above the gate.

Built in 1938 and carefully remodeled in 2009, this California Spanish bungalow has maintained its’ charm and unique period style.

Located in the quiet neighborhood of Tahquitz River Estates,
Casa de Lucia is situated on a 10,000 plus square foot lot and is completely surrounded with lush green hedges creating a secluded private retreat.

As you enter the house through the large red door you will find the parlor room, which has original wood floors and pine beamed ceilings

There are two gorgeous fireplaces to warm you on the cooler evenings while relaxing with a great book, having a cocktail, or sharing a romantic dinner.

A petite candelero dining room sits adjacent to the parlor room and kitchen. Seating here is for six.

The spacious family room is accented with an eclectic mix of furnishings centered against a 46 inch flat screen TV with premium cable.  This room has a second dining table adjacent a fireplace with Mexican encaustic tiles. Triple French doors lead directly to the pool and when open create a seamless inside living area to outside pool and gardens. This “great room” is comfortable and perfect for relaxing with family and friends.

The backyard has stunning mountain views, with four chaise lounges, an umbrella and two shaded seating areas. Both covered areas have lighting and ceiling fans to allow for comfortable outdoor dining while listening to the sounds of water flowing from the fountain. The large outdoor dining table looks onto the pool. On those warmer days the professional misting system surrounds the pool deck and dining areas for you comfort. In the evening, the landscape and pool lighting create a casual resort feel for enjoying the warm desert evenings.

The mountains of Tahquitz Canyon form a dramatic backdrop with spectacular day and evening views. For the more active, you can walk from the house to hike between the canyon walls and discover Tahquitz Waterfall and a natural pool shaded amongst the Aliso trees.  In 1937, Frank Capra’s, Lost Horizon, used this setting for location shots.

Three bedrooms make this home a perfect retreat for a family or for two couples to share. The master bedroom has a king size bed with vaulted pine beamed ceilings and a flat screen TV. The main guest room is situated off the pool with a queen sized canopy bed. Two twin beds complete the third bedroom with views to the front garden and orchid tree.
