activities and attractions in Beaufort Atlantic Coast

Look out your back door at the wild ponies that roam on the
protected reserve across the water. Cape Lookout is a nice round trip in a
day to see the lighthouse. Collect shells on sand dollar island. Ride
bikes anywhere your heart desires (just 5min. to town on bikes). It is a nice flat, 10 minute stroll to the downtown docks. Walk to town, have lunch or dinner and see the million-dollar yachts that stop in Beaufort on their way up and down the intracoastal waterway and the great Atlantic.
You can go ferrying, kayaking, sailing, walking, bicycling, cruising, shelling, and lounging. You can visit Fort Macon, too. And when no one is looking, you can check your email with free WIFI.

Boat slip with deep water access in front yard! Downtown Historic
Beaufort is a stroll away. There are beaches, state parks, kayaking,
excellent shopping, awesome restaurants, and a  ferry to the outer islands. This is a quiet vacation spot for couples and families. Just across the draw bridge is a more-active Morehead City, with miniature golf, theaters, malls and all the touristy activity kids sometimes want. Fishing is excellent and many tournaments are held in Beaufort all year round. Walk or bicycle to the North Carolina Maritime Museum and see Blackbeard the Pirates' recovered artifacts.
There is also a wooden boat-building workshop. Bring your boat and tie
it up to our deep water access dock!

Tranquility on the Water

Sherry (Raleigh)
Review submitted: May 3, 2011   Date of arrival: April 29, 2011

If you want tranquility on the water, this is the place. The house is located right on Front Street, just far enough down to be away from the crowds, but close enough to walk to downtown or the newly opened Front Street Village boat house at the other end of Front Street. This house is a mix of old and new, the owners have updated some portions of the house, other portions are in need of updating (like 2 of the 3 bathrooms), but they seem to do a little every year. Just don't expect perfection because it is an older house. The view is great whether inside or out, plenty of room to relax, enjoy and easy access to everything in Beaufort and beyond. Full kitchen and bar that allow you to cook on your own if you don't want to eat out every night. Good value for the $$'s.

Owners response: Sherry thanks for returning to our house for the 3rd time! The bath tubs in the 2 original bathrooms are the only things in those rooms that have not been updated.
They are fully functional, however, and have never given cause for complaint. Maybe new fixtures would make them seem newer. The most important thing to remember is that we appreciate you returning year after year which speaks volumes. Lauren

Better Than Advertised

Location, Location, Location!!!! On the water and within walking distance to downtown. I enjoyed fishing off the dock and crabbing while my wife read her book on the rocking chair waterfront deck. The house is very cozy with 2 seperate master bedrooms facing the water and a third bedroom for the kids. There is plenty of room to gather either in the dinning room, kitchen or sunroom. This was our first time staying in Beaufort and can't imagine why we would choose any other house. Lauren took the time to answer any questions we had and even taught me how to crab (caught 6). Next time please leave the keys to the boat where I can find them. lol

What a gem!

Lovely property in a conveniant and peaceful location. Perfect getaway for a couple or family. Home was very clean and well appointed. So nice being really close to the water, with fabulous views, but without the noise pollution of most beach towns. There is much to see and do in the historic town of Beaufort, yet it has retained its' small town charm. A selection of very nice restaurants and shops. Our little dog was enamored with his surroundings. For beach lovers, Atlantic Beach is right across the bridge. The little boat tours are fun and the charming museum should not be missed. For history buffs, an excursion to the Fort Macon near the Coast Guard station is a must. Visit Amos Mosquitos Restaurant for some of the best soft shell crabs(in season) you will ever experience! As a matter of fact, all of our dining experiences were pleasant. There is a great retail fresh seafood shop in Beaufort to purchase items for your own culinary creations. We will definitely visit this area again!
