McCall is a charming town 100 miles north of Boise on the shores of
Big Payette Lake. It's
location makes it ideal for outdoor recreation including, golf,
swimming, fishing, jet
skiing, boating, waterskiing, road and mountain biking, hiking,
climbing, kayaking,
whitewater rafting, a short drive to hot springs and hot pools, bird
watching, XC and
alpine skiing (Brundage Mtn. and Tamarack Resort 30 minutes in
opposite directions),
sledding, snowmobiling and snow shoeing. There are several antique
shops in the area
and some good restaurants. In summer, concerts are held at Brundage
Mtn. ski resort.
Late January/early February marks the McCall Winter Carnival
featuring snow sculptures
and winter sporting events. An indoor ice rink is open year round.
