Though this space is intimate and integrated, the high ceilings, track lighting, and recessed kitchenette give this little cottage the feel of a bigger place. The space is extended out front with a cute cedar dock where you can sip your morning coffee or just sit and enjoy the Pacific breezes from the ocean just across the way. There's a TV with cable and also a DVD player. Kick off your shoes, stretch out on the bed and watch something after dinner. Don't forget to bring the laptop. With a comfy queen bed, Gull's Guest House sleeps two. In a room like this where everything occupies a common space, design is important. Using the same light colored wood for furniture, cabinets, trim, and decor, the decorator achieves a harmony that de-emphasizes the size of the bed. Light from the big window and ample track lighting overhead make the room cheerful and bright! There's one full bathroom.

Despite its size, this cottage has a well-equipped kitchenette with everything you'll need to whip up a quick snack or a more ambitious meal. It's set slightly apart, so it feels like a separate room. Space-saving features like a microwave set up and out of the way, and a small, built-in fridge means you won't be bumping into either when you're cooking. The stove and sink are stainless steel for easy clean up. When your meal is ready, the two of you can eat at the table for two. Out on the deck you'll find a charcoal grill and another table with chairs so you can enjoy a barbeque when it's nice outside.

Sure, you're more likely than not to score a great souvenir or meal at one of the 41 shops and 35 restaurants just one block away in Downtown Cannon Beach. And yes, you'll be able to learn more about the area at the Cannon Beach History Center. (They'll also send you on your way with a map on a walking tour of the city). The biggest draw in Cannon Beach, however, is its beautiful, long stretch of beach and the natural features that dot the landscape around it.

Take, for instance, imposing Haystack Rock, the 235-foot rock that's accessible by foot at low tide. Properly called "a stack" by geologists, it's one of the most photographed landmarks on the Oregon Coast. Then there's Ecola State Park where you'll be treated to vistas of Indian Beach and Tillamook Lighthouse or encounter, up close, marine creatures like sea stars, hermit crabs, anemones, and more. Savor more amazing views at Hug Point State Park and Oswald State Park 10 miles to the south. Or, just stick around this lovely little cottage and relax. Take your book down to the beach, set the sand sift through your toes, and watch the sun sink slowly down in a blaze of color over the ocean.
