vacation rental description
Located where the Yaquina River meets the Pacific, busy Newport is a picture postcard town right out of the movies. While you're there, why not stay in the East Wing where you'll have a front row seat on the 15 x 20 foot balcony to fishing boats sailing in and out of Yaquina Bay, and great views of a functioning waterfront loaded with shops, galleries, and restaurants? One of two adjoining apartments, this unique space with one bedroom and one bath puts you right in the heart of the historic and bustling Bayfront District, and right on top of Sail Inn Cafe - a popular Newport eatery.
With its simple furniture, hardwood floors, and nods to things nautical like a model ship and lighthouse, it's a smooth a transition visually to the rows of fishing boats tied up in neat rows at the docks just across the street, as well as the busy waterfront where the ocean's abundance meets the markets and restaurants of Newport.
The atmosphere is unpretentious, homey, and quite unlike the vanilla ambiance of the chain motels. Lose the chill from a day out on the water or hiking on the beach by slipping into the warmth of the jetted tub. Plop on the couch, grab a book and relax. Catch your favorite show on the extended cable TV, or watch one of the VHS tapes provided. Check out the local events on the Internet: there's free WiFi. To warm up, there's a fireplace in the living room, and up in bedroom as well.
At bedtime, head up the spiral staircase where you'll find a nice big king bed and a twin. There's a futon as well, so Sail Inn East will accommodate five people comfortably. Read a little before bed, or watch the late night shows before turning in. The apartment has one full bathroom.
Sail Inn East has a nice, fully stocked little kitchen with a stove (no oven), a microwave, and plenty of pots, pans, and utensils. There's even a coffee grinder for that really fresh cup of morning coffee! Don't feel like cooking? Not a problem. After all, you're sitting right on top of a great seafood restaurant where you can order up something from their diverse menu. Order in, and they'll even bring it up to you! Or, try one of the other 19 places to eat in Newport where you can get just about anything.
Newport is quintessential coast - the perfect place for fishing, boating crabbing, clamming...you name it! Known as the Dungeness Crab capital of the world, Newport gives you many opportunities to both consume and observe various denizens of the deep. Watch crabs and their watery brethren in their element at the Oregon Coast Aquarium, or in the many tide pools that dot the shores of the state parks around Newport.
Take a trip with one of the charter services in town to fish, watch whales, or just to watch a colorful sunset on the ocean. If you like lighthouses, Newport has two: at Yaquina Bay and Yaquina Head. Hikers and cyclists can trek on 21 trails in the area of varying difficulty, taking them along beaches and forest pines. And Newport does its part for science too. The western headquarters for NOAA is just across the bay. Take a stroll on the boardwalk, or have some fun at the Ripley's Believe It or Not museum. Take a class in glass blowing or cooking, or hear a concert by the only professional orchestra on the Oregon Coast, the Newport Symphony.
So when you're in Newport, stay at Sail Inn East where the waterfront is right in front of you, and a great meal right underneath!
