There are number of things wrong with this property, and you should keep searching for another house. Here is a list of the problems we had during our 2 week stay in Jan-Feb 2013:
The pool does not heat properly. It was not heated when we arrived, nor for over half of our stay. The owner refused to provide any refund at all for the pool heating, and tried to charge me $85 when she (not me) called pool maintenance for a service call.
The locks on the main floor bathroom and 2nd floor bathroom do not work, nor on at least 2 of the bedroom doors
The BBQ is VERY SMALL and VERY DIRTY.
The kitchen table is wobbly and feels like it is going to break.
The back of one chair broke off while we were there, and it was not the first time this piece of the chair broke as we could see glue on it. The owner wanted to deduct $150 from my damage deposit to change me for the chair.
One of the railings on the 2nd floor is falling off – not safe, especially for children.
The towels are old and musty smelling.
The sheets on the main floor master bedroom were a bit dirty when we arrived.
The pictures on the web-site are wrong. The website shows 2 living rooms, this house has one living room. It also shows a game room with a newer pool table and 2 other games tables, this house had 2 run-down and broken and ultimately un-usable game tables.
The day bed in the hallway of the 2nd floor is falling apart and is unsafe.
One of the burners on the stove does not work.
The wireless internet is slow and unreliable, to the point it reminds me of a dial-up connection from 10 years ago.
The pool table is VERY wobbly and resembles something that the owner picked up at a garage sale for $40 that was originally a couple hundred dollars from Kmart.
I understand this is a rental property – I don’t expect things to be perfect and do expect some normal wear. However, this property needs some maintenance – notably fixing door locks, the 2nd floor railing, an (at least) average size and clean BBQ, working pool heating, a kitchen table and chair that are not so wobbly (then trying to blame and charge renters).
Based on the above, if you want a house that is maintained and with a good and reasonable owner, find another house. Feel free to contact me if you want to verify this review. There were 8 other adults with me in this house who can verify that all of the above is factual...unlike the pictures on the house’s web-site. Peter in Edmonton, Alberta.
