Kane Mountain Pine Lake Cottage in Caroga Lake

Kane Mountain Cottage is a newly renovated year round home located in Pine Lake at the base of Kane Mountain, well known for its hiking trails to the fire tower overlooking the nearby lakes which include:  Canada, Caroga, Green, Pine and West Lakes.
We are minutes from all types of activities: boating, canoeing/kayaking, fishing, hiking, swimming, cross-country skiing, downhill skiing and snowmobiling.
Our huge backyard contains many tall pines and provides a peaceful setting to relax by the outdoor fireplace, or enjoy a meal cooked on the gas grill provided.  A short walk through the woods leads to a creek running at the base of Kane Mountain.

The first floor consists of a newly installed, fully equipped kitchen, a living room with a sofa sleeper, another sofa, chair and two recliners, as well as  long distance telephone  and internet service, cable television, a dvd player, books and games.  An enclosed front porch runs the width of the house, and a covered deck is located at the back of the house.

The second floor consists of one bedroom with two double beds and another with one double bed.  The newly installed bathroom contains a tub/shower combination.

The back yard contains a gas grill, picnic table and fireplace for evening campfires.

A newly installed furnace offers winter warmth, and a Generac generator insures no discomfort should a power outage occur.

Activities within the immediate area of the cottage include, boating, canoeing/kayaking, fishing, golf, hiking, and swimming during the summer months and cross country skiing, downhill skiing, hunting, snowshoeing and snowmobiling during the winter months.
Boating: A state boat launch is available within minutes from the cottage on West Lake, and Caroga Lake Marina is 10 minutes away.
Canoeing/Kayaking: Stillwater paddling, gentle streams and whitewater are all available near Kane Mountain Cottage, with Pine Lake being just minutes away.
Fishing: There are 44 lakes within Fulton County, offering ample possibilities for testing your skills.
Golf: Nick Stoner Golf Course is 3 miles from the cottage and is open to the public.  There are several courses within a 20-25 minute drive.
Hiking: Several hiking trails are within the immediate area of the cottage and include  Broomstick, Good Luck, Holmes, Jockeybush and Nine Corner Lakes and Kane Mountain.
Swimming: A short walk leads you to Pine Lake Beach offering certified lifeguards, an ice cream and refreshment stand, arcade and miniature golf.
Cross Country Skiing/Snowshoeing: Free crosscountry skiing and snowshoeing are available at the Rockwood State Forest Site which is 15 minutes away, and Lapland Lake, a nationally recognized cross country resort just 20 minutes away.
Downhill Skiing: Royal Mountain is just 10 minutes away and is open weekends, holidays and holiday weeks through the winter.  Gore Mountain, an hour away, is open daily.
Snowmobiling: You can ride your snowmobile from the cottage to all trails within the Route 8 Corridor, including a pleasant 45 minute ride to the Salisbury Ridgerunners Club House, the largest snowmobile club in New York State.

Restaurants & Stores: Canada Lake Store & Marina is located 2 miles from the cottage; Grooms Country Store is 5 miles.  There are 2 diners within 5 miles and several restaurants anywhere from walking distance to 8 miles away (menus provided).

Attractions: Less than 30 minutes include art, antiques & gifts, Adirondack Animal Land,  Caroga Lake Museum,Dirt Track Racing, Funny Farm Comedy Club.
1 Hour away you will find Eagle Mills Cider Company, Crystal Grove and Herkimer Diamond Mines, Howe Caverns, Saratoga Performing Arts, Casino and Race Track.
 In 2 hours or less you will find Adirondack Adventures White Water Rafting, Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame, Enchanted Forest Water Safari, Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom, Gore Mountain Gondola Rides, Lake George, Mall Shopping in Albany, Rotterdam, Saratoga and Utica, Turning Stone Casino and Upper Hudson River Railroad.
